Acrobatic Movement?

I'd settle for having a version of SuperSpeed with animation of mounting a moderately-customizable Hero-Cycle. Sure it's functionally the same, but it'd be really cool to tool around Paragon City on your Hero Cycle.

I'm still trying to understand, other than RP and in-game movies, why would you want to walk when you can run?

I don't think there's a significant monetary/business advantage for Paragon Studios to devote that much time to producing something that would be utilized by a disgustingly small minority given the cost to produce it.

Would it be nice? Sure, if they did it right and didn't slapdash it together like Blizzard did in WoW. The Matrix Online has superior walking and turning animations, they're like the animation kings. Sad the rest of their little MMO fell apart in the content department.

From a business standpoint, this is where CoX is going to win out. It's got tons of content, but you don't have to experience that if you don't want to. That choice, between the power-levelers and the story lovers, that balance, is what steps CoX apart. You have more choice, in a friendlier format, than just about anything else out there.

For the last four years, I kept coming back because I like PUGing and the surprising combination of skillsets. Watching a good leader pull together the weirdest mix you could think of, and having it create devastation for your enemies.

I'm going to keep coming back, because unlike a lot of other MMOs I've played, CoX keeps getting better. Star Wars Galaxies got worse, MxO stalled like a glider dipped in lead and gilded with uranium, and WoW is fun for about 6-12 months.

Why did this happen? My opinion was that CoX had its eye on being the best it could, like "The Little Tanker That Could". It's still not the best performing MMO in the league, but I'm certain it's consistent.

That opinion changed when I heard the back story of the MA set up. I14 is so ground-breaking, it makes my head hurt. Somewhere in this mess of what is/was/will be a someone managed to answer a request to develop a user friendly mission setup. Something insanely easy to use. It was so good somebody else said, "Why don't we let the players play with it?"

And they let us play with it. CoX is running full tilt, and I don't really see it slowing down much over the next few months. Will Champions Online and DC Online impact the player base? I'm sure it will. After about 3 months there'll be a swarm of newbies who want something on going and not just a 40 hour marathon if grinding for 10 hours of what they thought they wanted..

CoX has a solid plan for the future, plans for stuff that makes me giddy, and it's not the particulars that make me giddy, it's the direction of the effort.

CoX is running at hyper-speed. Why should we start walking now?

Honestly, I'd like a travel power set that'd actually make sense for natural characters. Perhaps some sort of mini-vehicle power: pneumatic jump, gyrocopter pack, motorcycle.

How about this.

Adrenal Boost: Click power on a Long timer. Short Duration +Runspeed +jump +recharge. Similar to the increase in speed of toggling Sprint with a +15% recharge to all powers. Backloaded end cost to give it a micro-crash.

Quickfoot: Toggle power, very low end cost. +Runspeed +res Slow +Def (same as combat jumping)

Acrobatics: Toggle power +Run Speed +Jump Speed +Jump Height +Def. Roughly equivalent to 3 slotted Swift and Hurdle as it's base, with a decent +Def mod. Higher than that of Flight or Superspeed, for example, since you're moving more slowly than Flight -and- you're still vertically limited.

Rush: Click power with a -long- recharge. +Run Speed +Jump Speed +Jump Height +Recharge +Def. The defense would be in the range of 3-7% (Based on AT) with a massive run speed and jump speed increase. These parts of the power would last for 1 minute with a crash at the end (not a full crash, but backloaded end cost) however the +Recharge would be somewhere on the scale of +1000% recharge for 5 seconds.

I think it'd be a fun pool to have, and I know I'd take it on at least 3 of my characters (All 4 powers)

At the very least, can you please have the Super Speed effects attatched to the character's feet (much like how hasten is attatched to the character's hands) instead of to some invisible area 3 feet below the character. Flying around (and to some extent jumping) with this blob of light hanging 3 feet under you just looks really goofy.

What kills me is that they already have an extremely cool travel power in the game that most people haven't seen, meaning the power slide which you can only get from ordering the collector's edition or having pre-ordered the game when it first came out 5 years ago. Slap some extra speed on that baby or at least an endurance reduction so people will have a reason to chose it and it'd be sure to be a crowd pleaser.

As what? It's sprint w/ a different animation. You can stack it w/ SS, SJ, CJ, swift, hurdle, etc. What would a slide powerset bring to the table?

Not talking about the Prestige Sprints which I think also should, be faster than Sprint at least a little, by the way. A boosted (faster/and or less endurance costing) Power Slide wouldn't have to be anymore like Sprint than Super Speed is. I imagine it being something like how you can slide on the ice during the
BNY events and jump higher while sliding too it seems like which is always such a riot. Speaking of which it could also maybe make you go really really fast if already on another slippery surface like the ski slopes! It would just be another awesome looking and fun way to move around and maybe give Champions Online and DCU a run for their money what with their new funky fresh movement powers. Don't hide your light under a bushel, CoX! Let it shine!

The slide you refer to is a paid-for prestige sprint and not a selectable. You would need an entire new power pool to shove it into if you wanted it as a "real" travel power available to everyone, and it would essentially be Super Speed reskinned.

If that's what you're proposing, I apologize, but you were immensely unclear.

It's actually an extremely simply idea that you are over thinking perhaps. Just take the existing power with its animations that are already made and increase the speed so that it will be slightly faster than Sprint, but nowhere near Super Speed, and/or reduce the endurance cost to give people an incentive to take it besides the cool look and feel of it (that is not at all like Super Speed if it's anything like skating on the ice during winter events) and make it a vet reward like the Prestige Sprints or something you can purchase in the next pack and you are done. No need for an extra power pool or nothing. Heck you could probably just make it available for everyone by sticking it into one of the existing pools or make it a purchasable temp power.

I've seen some of the cool new movement options available for DCU and just thought that it's a pity that CoX doesn't make more of what it's got if it's going to be competing with them. Even if it were exactly like Super Speed (which I don't think it would be) but the color and animation and accompanying sound was different you'd have people lining up to take it just cause of the minor yet empowering variations.

You know how the Red Cap Rascals run? A "silly running" travel power could combine a number of animations, like backflips, cartwheels, jumping, bouncing off walls, etc.

And the best thing is the title of the developer who designs it: The Minister of Silly Walks.
