Earth Blast??
well the only feasible way earth based attacks would work is if one was on the ground when they were cast, thus eliminating flying blasters for this as a set, and honestly i doubt something like this would go in. when it'd be so much easier to........

but that's just me, i mean they allready have the powersets and it would only require minor tweaking for balance, but those 2 would be nice for proliferation if they decide to do anymore.

as far as earth blast, u'd have to figure out a way to explain blasting chunks of rock and dirt at ppl without alienating ppls ability to use travel powers, because i know quite a few blasters like to hover to avoid melee damage from non flying npcs.
this would be pretty cool... smashing with some -def debuffs like earth troller

im not saying its a bad idea, but u should think of the thematics for it a bit to figure out how to get it to work. i mean hell
a fireball like power volcanic explosion! 80ft range tbaoe, a volcano erupts under the feet of the target causing it and any nearby foes to take moderate fire/smashing damage from the flying lava..
yea im not sure how well it'd work but u just have to figure out how u'd convey blasting ppl with earth, sure the lvl 1 power "throw pebble!"
most blasters that i see dont use fly and even still there are lots of other powers for other ATs that dont work if your off the ground, i would like to see rad or dark blast in blasters but i would like to see new powersets more
I am for anything the Developers want to add that gives Blasters more unique ways to kill...AFTER they give me Radiation Blast dagnabbit!
I mean, come on, I added it into my Mid's after working out all the numbers, I'll do it for Castle!!! For free!

Just take energy and don't read the descriptions.
I think it would be pretty pointless honestly. It would be a set completely rooted in smashing damage and that is the most resisted damage type on the game so your damage would be terrible.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
Its all about the numbers/values/recharges/side effects. You can't say something will be bad just because its common/uncommon.
And yeah, i never take fly on my blasters, and don't know that many who do/use hover in combat.
A true blaster uses cj/hurdle.
I have an energy/ice blaster i'm making for regneration level regeneration, and he only gets hover to achieve this and turn the knockback into knockdown, thus creating the only blaster i have/will have that uses hover.
And as far as porting goes, i'd much rather see dark blast ported over to blasters. Rad is pretty much what fire blast is only with different side effects of -def instead of damage. Now i wouldn't complain for sure, but i'd rather see dark blast.
Unlike the psy version, i'd assume it would remain aim-less to compensate for its debuff/mitigation tools. That or get aim in place of dark pit in a likewise fashion.

yea i vote for a 25% damage buff to every single archery power to compensate for it being "lol" lethal damage, and incidentally buff psi-shockwave by 25% damage bonus as well. i'm just saying.
Not a bad idea. If you play CoV, some mobs in Legacy Chain have some kind of earth blast (maybe it's more appropriate to call it earth manipulation). It seems like they have an earth/plant theme. If there would be an earth blast, I wish that the set could be more flashy than just hurling rocks.

Ummm...*raises hand*...I use flight and hover for ALL my blasters. lol Mainly for conceptual reasons. I dont do "flavor of the months" and i like to kick back and enjoy the concepts of my heroes.
Oh and I only use hover during indoor missions cuz flyin around sometimes is too fast indoors for me but its all fun tho. However I LOVE whoever suggested the volcanic thing.
Also, dont know if anyone has seen Ben 10 but maybe some kind of crystalized-style powers like that green diamond/crystal hero from season one that can either shoot the shards from his hands, or cause the green crystal rock to come up outta the ground and encase the badguys like ice freezes people. And the best part is he doesnt have to be touching the ground to do either one of these.
Or Chromostone from Ben 10 Alien Force, maybe a mixture of gemstone powers combined with that light refracting/blasting thing he does.

I would ordinarily expect an earth blast set to be ponderous and slow. Since they would most likely want to normalize the animation times for the first two attacks, as they've done with other blast sets, I propose that earth blast have a weapon. You would not actually hold anything in your hands, but the earth blast "weapon" would be one or more bands of rocks circling the blaster, and these could be released at targets relatively quickly for its faster-hitting, lower damage attacks. The blaster could then gather some of these rocks together, or fling several rocks simultaneously, for some of the harder hitting or aoe attacks. Since the rocks would follow the blaster, they could use some of their attacks in the air, though some of the attacks probably would require grounding. I'm definitely seeing a disorient for its control power.
This one's essentially dead on the drawing board, though, since all of it would have to be drawn from scratch.

What is all this business with not having fly if you want to use Earth Blast? Are you people implying that the Blasters will channel the earth through their feet?
Just because someone manipulates an element doesn't mean they have to be standing in it. How many fire blasters maneuver themselves into campfires in order to send off fireballs? Along the same lines, would you have to be swimming in order to pull off a Water Blast set if it ever was implemented?

Ever seen Avatar: The Last Airbender? That show depicts pretty well what manipulating elements would be like. 4 Nations: Earth, Air, Fire, Water. Air benders can do their thing whenever b/c we always have air (with the exception of being underwater), Earth benders can only move earth (so they need to be around it), same with water. Fire is the one area I'm sketchy on b/c that would require some sort of ignition sequence.
But yeah, it makes sense for earth blasters to have to be near earth to do their blasting, same with water. Maybe that's a good argument to have them do a fair amount more damage than the rest of the sets.

--ever see Stone Cages or Stalagmite's on a GM or Monster? the animation is huge!...That might be a cool tier9 stone blast attack, just have one giant "stalamite looking" spear thingy blast up out of the ground (with a high mag knock-up of course) :P
--hmm, cant think of any other animations besides Hurl Boulder..maybe you could just throw chucks of your body at something (the parts would regenerate as long as your grounded)..idk sounds like a really slow blast set
--earth manipulation as a blaster secondary would be straight forward..wouldn't even need new animations...

I work with a coh friend and we talk about the game a lot. Last friday we started talking about an Earth blast powerset. we really got into it. I would just like to hear what others think about the idea? We decided it should be a shorter range blast with some smashing and some lethal powers. we only thought about the primary so far.
