I actually vastly prefer to play Blueside rather than Red.
I've had CoV for ages now, and only got a few villains to around the 20 range - I just really can't stand the layout and community of the Redside.
It feels like communications are much harder to maintain, there always seems to be a lack of players in any given zone, groups (while not hard to come by) aren't as plentiful as on Blueside, and the zones feel more cluttered and busy.
Plus, everything looks grungy and dirty. I know that's what they were aiming for, but that doesn't make me want to play in it anymore. I've always felt that CoV and CoH should be more connected. Right now, it feels like Redside is like it's own separate country instead of simply a different breed of super-powered denizen living in the same city. -
Oh my good lord.
Projectionist's version of Nighthawks is simply -AMAZING-
I was just browsing these forums before school, and I am instantly a fan. Nighthawks has always been my favorite painting, but even with that bias, that is just a beautiful rendition.
My vote all the way, Projectionist! -
I always find more groups on my 50 Empath than any of my other characters.
Even when you're 50. Empaths are in high-demand. I always get tells asking for me to help a TF even when I'm listed as 'Not Looking For Group'.
As for playing an end-game Empath, think of yourself as the 'group's insurance'. The majority of the time, you won't be firing off heals every few seconds and keeping teammates in the green. You'll be proactively buffing and attacking to make sure they never need heals in the first place. Your Regeneration Auras (both heal and recovery, don't listen to people that say skip Heal) will be boons to the team that you need to slot with plenty of recharge, and your Fortitudes and Adrenalin Boosts will keep your teammates healthy and god-like. Throw CMs on the squishies and the Tank when he takes on AVs, and then mix in your own personal brand of careful attacks, and your team will be golden.
There is plenty, I repeat PLENTY, of room on end-game teams for a good Empath. -

Go make a DB/Stone Armor tank. thats something I don't think I've ever seen.

I actually grouped with one last night. He was -terrible-.
Not the build, mind you. The player. -
As a 50 Tanker and an upcoming Scrapper, I can personally say that bad Energy Blasters are -extremely- annoying.
Especially for gathering aggro as a Tank. There's nothing more annoying than jumping into the heart of a mob, throwing down my AoEs to secure some aggro before the controllers lock down the mob into a tight group, only to be interrupted by an eager Energy blaster that throws his protons in the center of the mob and sends all the baddies flying in every direction.

What is all this business with not having fly if you want to use Earth Blast? Are you people implying that the Blasters will channel the earth through their feet?
Just because someone manipulates an element doesn't mean they have to be standing in it. How many fire blasters maneuver themselves into campfires in order to send off fireballs? Along the same lines, would you have to be swimming in order to pull off a Water Blast set if it ever was implemented?
Yeesh.

Ever seen Avatar: The Last Airbender? That show depicts pretty well what manipulating elements would be like. 4 Nations: Earth, Air, Fire, Water. Air benders can do their thing whenever b/c we always have air (with the exception of being underwater), Earth benders can only move earth (so they need to be around it), same with water. Fire is the one area I'm sketchy on b/c that would require some sort of ignition sequence.
But yeah, it makes sense for earth blasters to have to be near earth to do their blasting, same with water. Maybe that's a good argument to have them do a fair amount more damage than the rest of the sets.

This isn't a Cartoon Network anime, it's a Hero/Villain MMO.
Limiting a power to a certain condition (IE, no flying) automatically puts limits on character RP. What if I built a super-suit that can form matter via a generator installed in my gloves, which enables me to hurdle matter at enemies? (IE, rocks or dirt). Saying I -have- to be on the ground to do that rules out any possibility of clever character customization and forces everyone to be an Avatar character. -

actually, it may be... positron still hasn't defined 'egregious'

His exact words were
"Players that have abused the reward system egregiously may lose benefits they have gained - leading up to and perhaps including losing access to the characters power-leveled in this fashion."
He never said farming a lot will get you banned. He said abusing powerlevelling tactics excessively will get you in trouble. -
You won't get banned or in trouble for farming.
Farm until your brain leaks out of your ears and you go cross-eyed. Positron never said he was cracking down on farming.
However, it's when you decide to use game-breaking exploits in abusive ways to get extreme levelling speeds that you'll get in trouble. Although farming is much faster than levelling 'normally', it is not a Powerlevelling exploit and therefore you can do it. The people that Positron aimed his post at know very well who they are, because they use exploits and bugs in crafty ways to get insane levels in absurdly short amounts of times, IE powerlevelling businesses that use AE.
In other words, don't worry about it. Go have fun. -
Well, I tried my hand at Mid's and cohplanner.com, but I only found builds in their database that used the original Training Origin Enhancements.
Are there any sites where I can get IO'd PvP builds? I really need help building this guy. -
Awesome - thanks for the power choices.
Anyone have recommendations for slotting? -
A lot of people have recommended Ice/SS instead of Ice/Energy, but I still am set on Energy.
I don't need to have a perfect PvP character, I just want the best possible Ice/Energy I can get -
Hi guys. I recently decided that I'm tired of my old support role as an Empath, and I rolled an Ice/Energy Tanker that I plan to purely PvP with when he gets 50. (he's 34 now).
The thing is, is I don't know the first thing about slotting/picking powers for PvP because it's a completely different concept than PvE. Plus, I've never played a Tanker before this guy. I don't know all the ins and outs of PvP, but I plan on learning with a solid build - IF you guys can help me.
Money is not an issue. I mean, I don't want any builds that are crazy exorbitantly expensive, but I've been playing carebear style for long enough to be able to drop around 1.5 billion on this toon.
Any tips/recommendations/builds? I'd deeply appreciate the help. I feel like a fish out of water! -
How are the slots on villainside Freedom?
I have 107m infamy to offer?
