I think the devs should address the backlash ASAP.

...Because it's really annoying going through cap au and hearing RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE DELETION BANNINATION.

Seriously?

I think the devs will make the right choice, especially because in this economy, doing something as drastic as locking toons and deleting accounts will mean unsubscriptions, and turning this game into Age of Conan. Dead.

But I think some response just to stop the insanity of people freaking out should be made soon, despite the common sense of knowing that certain changes were going to be made to the AE ANYWAYS.

So.. you're saying the Hamburgler is one of the people against the ban on farming?

1. Changes to AE
2. Punish the Sinners! Burn the heretics!

Not the same thing.... but still, yes, it would be a good idea, but don't count on it. The developers will be going home for the night soon if they haven't already.

Join the discussion here on the Abusing the MA thread. It's already at around 2000 posts. If that doesn't merit a response, this thread won't either.

Seriously? Do what I do. Don't go thru Cap, or better yet, TURN OFF BROADCAST. I've also turned off help. I don't hear this crap at all. Happy is me.

Ah, role playing a deaf mute then?

A combination of pride and cowardice are going to prevent any appropriate follow-up to positron's posting. The best solution would be a posting by positron apologizing for making such a heavy-handed posting, and saying that no accounts are at risk, but that they will continue to refine the MA to return it to the vision they had. A brief bit about how MA was something he was very excited about and that seeing it being used for such base actions got him a little upset and that he posted in haste, would pretty much satisfy every single angry patron instantly.

The vast majority of players are fine with refinements to the MA system. The people who don't farm are happy to see fixes in place... the people who do farm are willing to accept them. What nobody is ok with is being threatened or treated like children, regardless of how much someone might think they have been acting as such.

But, like I said, an apology is highly unlikely. Instead it'll be played off as "well, we'll let you lawbreakers slide this time, but only because we're nice". Saving face is always worth losing customers to that type of person.

I agree unlikely to see any change. The Devs didn't make this decision on a spur of the moment and knew some people would be upset.

They have posted before though that they feel players know when they are exploiting the game and don't feel any sympathy for them because of it.

You can't please everyone, so lets concentrate on me.

Those are separate issues.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

Is everyone coming here because the Posi thread is full of beer and calculus now?

IDK I thought you and your mates were busy pushing it over 300.

This.

As someone who admittedly farms a fair bit (and has for quite a long time), I am perfectly fine seeing these supposed "nerfs" hit live. I can still take a group of my lowbie friends into a mission full of minion for some crazy fights and a good time (you know, "fun", that stuff you're supposed to have with a game).

But seeing vague, outlandish threats from the supposedly mature, professional developer(s) of the game shook me a bit. While I'm not going to run around yelling "I pay your salary, make the game how I want!", I will suggest that customers be treated in a nicer manner. While I understand that there is vision and direction behind MA (and as a developer myself, respect this), making threats which are seen by the community at large as "trolling" is not going to convince anyone of your professional or artistic depth. As VoodooPokey stated, a simple apology for the threats, alongside a clearer explanation of the situation, would go miles toward sating the player-base's bloodlust on the matter.

what I have a problem with is a lack of understanding of what 'egregious' abuse is.

That and the threats.

I really, really love burning down huge herds of baddies all the way up to the aggro cap. It makes me enjoy characters that I otherwise despise.

I also like to create adventures suitable for soloing by less 'soloable' toons, such as low-level defenders, that are less brutal than the regular content, for use when teams are unavailable (I play at 3 in the am a lot)

Are these behaviors going to get my characters banned? Yes, my earth controller can solo faster on a 'defender specialty' map than on regular content... but the ability of my earth controller to solo on regular content is FAR FAR below even TANKER 'average' leveling speeds.

Is using the MA to create solo challenges on par with higher-difficulty characters an exploit?

Where does that end, is using the MA to create lower-difficulty challenges for a team of newbies, that allows them to level as fast as the sewers but without as many deaths considered an 'exploit'?

Because of this, I have deleted my three arcs. I don't know if they are going to get banned. I won't touch the MA ever again. And it's a real shame because I was looking forward to it so much (I was actually one of the people making threads suggesting it several years ago.) but if my characters are in 'danger', it would be stupidly irresponsible for me to touch it again.
