Nobody plays my arcs!!

heh, so yeah. I dont know if this is a problem in the classic sense of the word, but it is pretty dissapointing when I log on and nobody has rated an arc I spent hours on.

I dont really know how to "fix" this eighther, I mean, there are so many arcs, many are bound to be overlooked right?

How do most people overcome this? advertise in broadcast or here? ask around in game? I asked my wife( infrequent player) to go through my two arcs and rate them 5 stars on her account just so someone did lol, but thats cheating in a way

anyway, if anyone is curious, my two arcs are numbers 107020 named Uberbots! and number 93496 A pawn in Time.

My Global is Eldagore.

heh, plug my own stuff!!

anyway, anyone else spend hours on their arc, only to watch it move into the middle of the crowd of unrated oblivion?

I know how you feel. My arc's the same way. But you know? There are tens of thousands of the things. So either be patient, or do a little publicizing. It'll get played.

I have to agree with this. I made two MAs and as soon as I published them I added the IDs in my signature tag. My next step is to offer to do other player's arc and rate them. I can assure you I am writing these numbers down now to try them out ASAP.

Just put yourself out there. The worst you will get is no and if some one agrees to run it, ask them to be fair in the rating as well as comment. I think there is a dedicated channel for self promoting your MA, but I haven't seen it yet.

yes, most people's arcs just sit unplayed and unloved.

If it is a story based arc (not a challenge or farm, etc) - you can put SFMA in the description and people search for that.

But if it is not story based - that will just get you low ratings.

Form a team and drag them through it. If you start the story and then happen to "DC" for a moment someone else will end up with the star and have to lead it, so you'll see how they react to the story.

I published my arc 10 days ago. I don't think anybody play it except myself.

Yes, there is. It's called MA Arc Finder, a public channel for discussion of all things MA, as well as promoting your arcs. It's cross-server, so it wouldn't be the best channel for forming MA teams, but for promoting your arcs it's great. We've got a nice number of people in the channel, and it's a very friendly atmosphere.

The least little thing you do, or don't do, will leave your arc unplayed. With the shear number of arcs made per minute, you almost have to be "somebody" to get your arc played, let alone actually rated high. I've even offered influence to people to just play it, not looking for a specific rating, just play it, give it a chance. Not that influence is worth much these days, but they told me they dont' have time.

I played a Pawn in Time. Thought it was rather good. A comfortable 4 stars. The other one looked fun, but I got into the first mish and my level 42 Defender was facing level 46 Elder Snakes... no thanks. Snakes spawn weirdly because of that split level thing they have going. I'll give it a go with my 50 Brute, but does it have to be Snakes?

Be patient, my young, impatient friend. People will play your arc. My arc, which has been on for about a week, has only been played twice and a lot of arcs are the same way.

Patience is a virtue.

Write an engaging, interesting, detailed arc description. Construct clear, grammatical sentences that are correctly spelled and punctuated. People who are looking for story quality look for people who can write, and they use your arc description as one of the ways of telling whether or not it's worth bothering with. A description is basically an advertisement, so use it well.

Cramming a decent arc desc into a limited number of characters is an art unto itself.

QR - Also, if your arc is story focused (IE it has a plot of some sort), add 'SFMA' to your arcs description and itll show up in the search for people looking for the SFMA tag. This stands for Story Focused Mission Arc, and I heartily support it.

Very true, and they should provide a little action and excitement. Fire up someone's imagination.

To the OP, here is one of your arcs (107020) and my reaction/thoughts on it as prospective player:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>Take on Dr. Gravito and his Uberbot series of robotic guardians.</pre><hr />
My take: Sounds like a small to mid-size single mission arc, but it is for a four mission arc? What are the stakes, what great good or evil am I to do?

Digging a little further I look at the mission intro... So this guy's blown into the Rogue Isles and caused some chaos for me to clean up?

Not saying to do it this way (look inside your mission for some tantalizing bit of story or reward or whatever you can tease with), but to me something more along the lines of:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>The Rogue Isles are in chaos, and not the opportunity factory type chaos
you've come to know and love. Take matters into your own hands, "make it your way,"
and take out the upstart Dr. Gravito and his "Uber" bots in the process. [Medium challenge][SFMA]</pre><hr />

Would catch my eye, oh, that is if I played any villains.
Another place to see what is working is search on 4 star arcs, look at ones with a 100+ plays, read their descriptions. If one got completely ambitious, then find some screenwriting sites. Descriptions for arcs are very similar to pitches for movies in what should work, etc.

I picked snakes because they were listed in the lvl 1-54 range on the foes list. I forgot about the spawning thing actually. I ran the arc testing it with my lvl 50 invuln tank, on invinc. I didnt have much trouble with the snakes at that lvl. The EB uberbots though, were pretty harsh for me solo.

I also ran it after publish with my lvl 31 fire/mental blaster, on heroic. Also not to much trouble on the snakes, and the uberbots spawned as bosses. tough, used several inspirations and died on one of them, but I didnt think the challenge level was to out of hand.

Good feedback though! I may investigate altering the snakes thing and adjusting the story for it.

I do need to elaborate a little in the description, I will give you that. Sometimes I think the first page in the arc creator should be the last, so writers have a good feel for what is in their story for both description, and title. Of course, revisiting the page is also simple enough

I was also leery at first of calling the arc "villainous" as I felt it would limit exposure. Dr. Gravito and his bots are heroes, but fighting them of itself isnt necessarily evil, and the missions were designed for story as well as the fun of the challenge, particularily the last mission. The arc as a whole is written pretty lightheartedly.

I will ponder the idea of labeling it villain though, as it would allow for some more sinister type dialogue.

thanks for the feedback!

Sorry, I didn't check the labelling. I just presumed from the Rogue Isles reference. The contact definitely presents the activity as neutral to heroic. To the original intent of the thread, the highest "market" out there is the heroic side.

well, to be fair, the contact is an arbiter heh. I was trying to keep it neutral even though it's a battle vs a bunch of EB heroes. its an arbiter contact and you sort of work with arachnos, but there isnt anything "evil" going on. just trying to keep the peace on the isles at first, and then discourage the good Doctor from returning to stir up more trouble there.

Maybe I will review my dialogue and try to get that idea across better.
