Ok, I've downloaded the Mac client on my new Mac. CoH looks great.
Still getting used to my Mac. I understand it is different than Windows....
Man, I want my right click back when playing CoH. Can I do this somehow??

Control-click. Or, if you have a laptop, put two fingers on the touchpad and then click.

But, er, if you have a current Mac, and it's not a laptop, you have a two-button mouse. The Mighty Mouse is sensitive to what part of the mouse you're clicking on.

If you have a laptop, I'd strongly recommend buying a regular mouse for your gaming needs.

I'm not a big fan of the Mighty Mouse, but you can use any USB Mouse or trackball with the Mac.

The Mac OS also supports right-clicks to bring up contextual menus.

I use a $14 portable corded Microsoft mouse for playing CoH on my Macbook Pro, because it's cheap and comfortable. I also have a Mighty Mouse, but the lack of cord, for me, means it gets lost somewhere on the desk and I have to search for it.

The newest Macbook and Macbook Pro also have a two-button trackpad - you can set the right corner of the button to be the 2nd mouse button. I actually use that when I'm only doing something for a moment (like visiting Went's) and don't really need accurate control.

I have a logitech bluetooth mouse that I use. It has 2 buttons and play sometimes on my Macbook. It runs pretty decent, surprisingly.

Make sure you go into your System Preferences and go into Keyboard & Mouse to enable the right click on your mac mouse. It is not enabled by default.

It's more of a multi-touch trackpad.

If you have one of the new Macbooks with the Glass Touchpad, use one finger for left click, two fingers for right.

I'm not sure this helps. It *DID* help me so that I am now able to hold down the right side of the mighty mouse and do a free camera look. Awesome! HOWEVER, I still cant right click on enhancements or inspirations or anything else without clicking the command key in conjunction with the mouse.

HELP?

Thanks,

Lewis

My advice...get a USB mouse to replace the mighty mouse. I love my Macs...but not Apple's mice.

Yep on the Mac I use at work the very first thing I did was take the Mac mouse and unplug it and replace it with a PC mouse.

Anybody got a recommendation on a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard that work with the mac, then? AND that have a full correct numpad?

For my laptop, I use the Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks. It's an awesome little mouse, comes with a nice carrying bag and a nice mini-USB transmitter. Works great with my Mac Book Pro.

For desktop-oriented systems, Logitech also sells keyboard/mouse combos that are wireless. The nice thing about the combo systems is that the same transmitter is used for the keyboard and mouse. Thus it only eats one USB port for both! Logitech makes several products that are specifically compatible with Macs. They even make one keyboard that has Mac keys on it. You could use them on laptops too, but they take up a bit of room. I used one of Logitech's wireless keyboard/mouse combos on my Mac Mini.

for gaming, never go wireless, its the worst possible decision you can make. what's that my battery is dead, pew pew, i'm dead, wtf!!!! god damn you energizer bunny!!!! i've made that mistake before myself so my wireless equipement just goes on my video editing machine, just because i didn't wanna throw them away.

I recharge my batteries when they get below 1/4 power, and have never run into that problem.

I've been gaming with a wireless mouse for years now. Just make sure you keep the batteries charged and you'll be good. Most modern cordless mice (and 100% of the ones worth mentioning) have battery life indicators on them for just this very circumstance.

As far as a recommendation goes, I don't use a wireless keyboard, but I'm quite fond of my logitech mice. Especially my MX and VX revolution's (not the VX Nano, the normal VX). Can't go wrong with either of those. I'd stay away from the logitech G series that they aim at gamers...they're good but not great....

The MX1100 is also something to check out as the successor to the very awesome MX1000

Yeah, you know, this used to be true... but wireless technology has come a long way in just the past year or two. Honestly, it's a viable technology now... although I admit the old grognard techie in me refuses to go wireless for input devices, especially for gaming. I feel a bit like the old man arguing that them thar new fangled horse-less carriages aren't gonna replace my ole Gluefoot. But still, I just can't bring myself to do it.

But intellectually, I realize they're fine.

The difference is RF mice versus Bluetooth. BT mice wolf through batteries compared to RF, which is why Logitech makes so many of them.
