Just tint the shield to match the color of Energy Melee, and you're set.

Villains have red Energy Blast and Heroes have blue Energy Blast. I think it'd make sense to have the melee versions of each match their colors, no? But you're right. The best I could do right now is make it pink - and there's no way I'm making a male character that has a pink energy shield.

People keep referring to the "pink pom-poms" but Energy Melee isn't actually pink. It's red. Compare it to the Psychic powers to see real pink.
I specifically designed my EM/WP Tank (Mighty Lad) around the colors of the powersets, giving him red gloves to match the EM hue, and it's very close. Mybe it's the bright white center of the power that fools people into thinking they're seeing pink, I don't know, but it's still red.

I'm on the Public Order Unit with my Service so I'm pretty sure I know what my shield looks like. The big Solid is more of a bullet repelling type that a SWAT team would use.

Villain Energy Blast Corruptors are the same blue as Energy Blast Blasters, at least mine is, and has been since I created her a long time ago. I think the Energy Assault set for Doms and Energy Melee for Brutes and Stalkers are red though? Not sure as I've never made any of those, just my EB Corr.

I do see your point, but it kind of kills the immersion when the shield you are using has 'fatal' design flaws to it.
And by 'fatal' I mean that the current riot shield, if used in RL would probably do the officer more harm than good if in a Riot situation.

What flaws are those? (Honest question, as I'm curious.)
There are lots of things in the game that don't quite match up to real life. Is there a single Tanker Super Strength attack that in any way matches the real punch it's named after? You just have to ignore that stuff and write it down as how the rules in an alternate world work.

Unfortunately it seems like only Male characters can use the newly added stuff right now. It is either a bug that the Female and Huge characters can't use them or they did not get around to implementing said shields for them just yet.
