"The mission has just started and it's already a damned escort..." Dorian grumbled as he walked towards the portal apparently leading to Alharzed's compound.

"Well, at least this should be interesting" the tall man muttered to himself as he stepped through the portal and headed towards Horowitz. Dorian intended to calm the Jager down long enough for the group to get back to the Ouroboros facility, and hopefully allow for another assault with an actual plan.

"I was rahter hoping the brute would eventually die, but oh well" Jack shrugged, then walked into the portal. He appeared, and watched as someone was throwing balls of fire, and Jager was slaughtering people. He noticed the snipers and smiled "I have targets all to myself". His already closed eyes closed harder as he concentrated.

"I have a clear shot on the green man, permission to fire?" a sniper cackled into the radio. He recieved an affirmative, and put his eye to the sight. "Your mine..." the sniper murmered, then noticed, when he tried to pull the trigger, his finger wouldn't respond. He tried to speak, but found he couldn't. "Sniper, take your shot" he heard cackled into the radio. But instead of firing at the green oaf, his sights turned to another sniper, his comrade who was stationed in a window. "Sniper, take your shot!" a voice said into his radio forcibly. "Fine" the sniper's voice said, but the sniper hadn't meant to say it. His finger squeezed the trigger, and the sniper in the window fell back, holding his neck which was squirting madly with blood. "Return fire!" a voice cakled into his radio, and orders were issued. "Thank you for giving me positions, it makes my job easier" the sniper said, and in return recieved many questioning comments.

Jack smiled devilishly as sniper after sniper was taken out, then, his puppet, a certain Josh Johansen, commited suicide, using his own sniper rifle. His eyes relaxed, and he laughed much like a maniac. He concentrated again, and a soldier near Jager took out a grenade, armed it, and threw it on the opposite side of Jager, towards more soldiers. The explosion was horrendous, killing many, injuring even more.

Jack noticed someone taking aim at him, and got ridicoulously mad. He concentrated for a moment, and the soldier lay on the ground, screaming in pain. Then, something incredible happened.

His head exploded.

((Not a name, more of a...brand of monster? His name is Horowitz.))

"Aren't you the happy little madboy?" Jack heard the deceptively normal-sounding voice of the cloaked man, the veiled figure unhurriedly making his way in his general direction.

He had begun his stride toward the man when Jack had uttered his maniacal laughter, getting his attention, and by now had closed the distance enough to allow for conversation at casual volume.

"Are you the one who built him then?" the robed figure wanted to know, thumbing a black-gloved hand in the general direction of Horowitz, "If so, nice work. What parts did you use...?"

((wait... someone else from the GG dimension, Devious? Horowitz is going to stick to this guy like a limpet if he finds out; he's been trying to get home for a long time now. Although... he recognizes Horowitz as a construct, but not a Jager (which are monsters of the 'here, drink this' variety, not the dead-bits-and-lightning sort)..?))

Horowitz was tearing through the troops like a rolling explosion. Despite his apparent random madness, there was a certain method to his fighting; squad leaders (and anybody yelling orders) were always dropped first. His grin was wide (and occasionally bloody). Here, he was in his element. All he needed now was a Heterodyne in the lead and his pack around him to feel entirely complete.

Then the others started to arrive, joining in the fray, and Horowitz started to laugh. "Hrun, booky-boyz, hrun!" he roared. "Doom haz come for hyu!" He reached a gatehouse of sorts, tore the iron door off its hinges, and started inside, slaughtering his way merrily down the stairs.

Bladewing jumped through the portal, unsheathed his katana, and began and all out sprint towards the side of the pyramid. When he encountered Alharzed troops, body parts and blood flew, screams of anguish echoed, and general mayhem ensued.

"A warning to all of you guys behind me, if you get my path I dont garuntee your survival."

Spinning like a blender from hell, Bladewing continued to shred a path towards the same gatehouse that Horowitz had entered.

((*Sigh.*
I spend a day setting up a sailboat race, and y'all run off on me. Next time, I'm hacking your keyboards so you can't update. ))

The large, nigh-unintelligible... thing leapt through the portal. Noble Intent sighed. The probability of a timely success just dropped more degrees than he cared to calculate. Solution? Plan in earnest. Coordinate. Build strengths between the two factions. The... whatever she was, she had power. And she was on the 'other' faction. She spoke up with a ritual to find the sources they needed to destroy. That would do.

"Lady, cast your spell." He said to her. "Find the items. If coordination is an issue, well. I have access to large amounts of psionic energy. Someone such as yourself, or, perhaps, The Lady Widow would be able to direct it with little trouble, yes?"

((... sailboat race?

Apparently, Noble Intent isn't a fan of concentrated, extreme violence as a form of problem-solving. Don't know why... it's always worked rather well for Horowitz

Then again, he's quite good at concentrated, extreme violence >.>

As an aside, if anyone is actually having trouble with the Jager accent (which is considerable fun to write), I'll provide an OOC translation at the bottom of my posts))

I'm not having any trouble with the Jager accent, though I'm curious if he actually speaks german or not.))

((No, nothing wrong with sailboat racing, it's just not something that leaps immediately to mind as something that would cause one to miss an RP post. I think I've been landlocked too long >.O

And Horowitz actually speaks Romanian, I believe, although I'm a bit fuzzy on that- I personally don't speak Romanian or German, I'm just going from memory on what the 'official' language of Girl Genius is.

Oh, and as a comment on my previous comment about concentrated, extreme violence as a problem-solving method... Horowitz is a firm believer in Rule Six: "If violence wasn't your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it."))

Given the onsluaght of supers, the troops rappidly began to retreat and scatter. Then they stopped coming. Only a man dressed in a suit came from what appeared to be the entrance. He had simply one thing to say:"Negotiations?"

Yosef stood and looked at him and Nikolai did the same.

It was then that both Nathaniel and Jake stepped through the portal, each completely and totally ready to fight. Imagine their surprise, (Well, relief, for one of them.) when they find naught but a suited man to greet them.

Nathaniel scowled and Jake smirked. "Guess our timing is spot on, huh?" The mastermind snarkily remarked, earning him a glare from his partner.

Jake chuckled. "Relax, I'm sure you'll have plenty of chances to die for your country."

Jack almost jumped as he heard a voice come from a figure who was walking out of a gate nearby. Almost. He turned and saw a short, cloaked figure asking him about Jager. "No, if I ever invented something, it would have more of a brain than that oaf. Makes my job easier" he said this as he smirked widely. "So, are you taking part in the festivities? I must say, that Josh Johanson has a very nice shot, well, had anyways", and imppossible as it seemed, his smirk grew bigger.

((Not behind. Walked out of the gate. Not the gatehouse, though.))

"Maybe." the cloaked figure gave a shrug, the whole of his robes moving ever so slightly, "Before I decide though, I'd like to know my madboy's name."

He gave a short glance to Jake and Nathaniel in the process, "Paperwork to fill out, you know. Have to make sure I don't kill the wrong people. Hm, what? Oh...no wrong people, you say?"

As for the man in the suit, he didn't even seem to be paying enough mind to the guy to actually ignore him...

Jack shrugged "More cows to my slaughterhouse, then". He looked back towards the two boys and smiled "You boys don't get along well, do you? Name's Jack, if you didn't catch it before" he said, his smile indicating he'd like nothing more than to kill the both of them, or better, watching one kill the other.

He looked back towards the action, where there wasn't any action anymore. He saw the headless body of the soldier's head he had exploded, and raised his hand. The soldier's gun came flying and smacked into his palm. "Hm, not to shabby" Jack remarked, smiling demonicaly. "Let's see how the sights work, shall we?"

He turned towards a man in a suit, who was asking for neotigations. "I don't think so" Jack's voice said, although only the man in the suit could hear him. He pressed his finger to the trigger as multiple rounds fired off.

A wave of ice seemed to splash over Jake as he stared back into the eyes of Jack, his eyes filled with a genuine fear for the first time in a good while. Just what had caused that? Granted, Jake had very few magical defenses. Maybe it was some sort of enchantment on the villain?

"Might be..." He muttered, still shaken.

Nathaniel, however, had not been affected. Even had he cared enough to acknowledge the undertones in Jack's greeting, his superiority complex allowed him to think nothing of it. He would have only smirked and said, 'Right back atcha.'.

Regardless, neither of them suspected that the killer would just up and make a blind rush at the suited man. Jake nearly facepalmed while Nathaniel smirked and shook his head.

"Well, whatever." The mastermind commented. "One less nutcase to deal with."

"Interesting. They could have learned something."

With the man pumped full of lead, he fell to the ground, unaware of why he was shot he simply asked, "why...?" Hoping to receive an answer and was quickly answered by Kamarov.

"Because you have the bloodly Necronomicon."

"...what are you talking about?"

"You know what we're talking about." Obviously this man was of no use to anyone and was simply met with an energy transfer, which finally killed him.

Yosef sighed as Kamarov systematically began ripping though the surviving soldiers who had opened fire at him.

Jack burst into laughter as the man dropped to the ground. "I ain't so bad with a gun as I thought I was" Jack said, tossig the gun aside. His senses instintly heightened as he smelled something. It wasn't something in the physical plane, it was mental. One of the boys was intimidated by him, the older one, while the other seemed perfectly fine.

"So, what do you two do for a living, eh?" he asked the boys.

Ceus looked at the once heavily occupied meeting room, now largely vacant thanks to Horowitz. She hoped whatever operation to get the green man back didn't end entirely in disaster.

She reached into her astral pouch, a handy extra-dimensional pocket, and pulled out a large piece of chalk, a jar of dragon blood, and seven candles.

She drew the circle and the lines of power, taking extra time on the energy drain circle--didn't want the excess magick vaporizing any onlookers.

The seven candles were placed in a ring around the circle, and she connected the candles to the ring with line of blood. Hovering in center of the circle, Ceus crossed her legs underneath her.

She began her chant in Gaelic, rituals were about channeling vast power into small spaces and she had the best rythem in the old languages.

She focused on the Necronomicon first, drawing up images of the last time she saw it, The dark spine, the pitted cover, the yellowed pages were the trappings of its most recent binding, the book changed its covers every couple hundred years, but the information within released a certain aura. The aura of power and the chill of its corruption. The mad will that drove it to turn its readers into its slaves.

As her focus narrowed, she began to think of destruction, the power required to destroy, the triumverate that held the life of the book in its hands.

The energy pulsed around her and it grew hot and bright. the runes drew into the circle shot light high into the sky.

Magick burst forth from Ceus, white flame trickling up and down her body, disintigrating her leather clothes, burning whiter and brighter than any flame of natural origin.

When floor beneath Ceus began to bubble and the lights could get no brighter, the energy exploded silently, the white power cascading through the air and dissapating on the walls.

Drained of magicks, Ceus dropped to the floor, no longer the faceless blue skinned, silver veined monster, but a mere woman with pale skin and brown hair. She would quickly regain her normal appearance as her magicks recharged, but for the next minute, she was free from her curse.

prying open her pale blue eyes she stared at the ceiling, but the only thing she saw were three items circling around the picture she had of the Necronomicon.

Her voice rasped out, "Heh. I never would have guessed those."

((I have no idea if I should just make the items up or leave that to Yosef, Ceus' divination magick is based off D&D style, so it usually requires the DM to supply the answers, but I'm flexible.))

Horowitz hadn't even slowed down when the negotiator came out (and promptly got shot)- indeed, it was questionable as to whether or not he had even noticed. Anyone following him would find a laser-straight trail of destruction aimed directly at the huge pyramid-palace at the center of town.

Dead or dying troops littered the ground where they'd been cut down whether they were trying to retreat or fight, and there were a number of cars or big rocks (and one tank) embedded in building faces- apparently random destruction, but if anyone cared to check under/behind them, they'd find the nearly two-dimensional remains of snipers. Horowitz was on the hunt, and it would take an act of God to turn him aside.

Before Jake could advise him to speak wisely, Nathaniel piped up, proudly proclaiming his and his family's service to Arachnos for generations.

"My colleague here and I are both operatives of Arachnos, assigned to this task as two of its most capable and loyal members." He contained a certain hubris, his tone obviously carrying with it the distinct impression of arrogance. "Supposedly I'm in need of one," He hiked a thumb back at Jake, who promptly glared at him, momentarily forgetting the dangerous man who stood in front of them, "to balance out my lack of technical knowledge or something."

"And provide you with a voice of reason, apparently, you spontaneous moron..." Jake muttered, still eyeing Jack with caution.

"Anyway, who might you be, Mister Psychopath? Seems only polite to introduce yourself after asking us." He crossed his arms and faked a confidence, looking the man straight in the eye, but, despite that, the slightest quiver could still be heard in his voice.

The question, was, of course, whether or not this quiver was appropriate.

Dorian hadn't taken any action during the whirlwind of past events after his unsuccessful attempt to clam Horowitz down. In fact, he was just staring at the amount of destruction the Jager had caused.

Then he looked around, to see if any of the others needed any help. All of them seemed to have their particular situations under control, more or less.

"I guess I can't avoid it, then. It probably wont be very pleasant, but this might be the only way to get that green wrecking ball back to Ouroboros..."

And with that utterance, Dorian speedily flew up behind Horowitz, and launched a two-handed, fiery haymaker at the back of the Jager's head.

Ceus saw three items. Another book, a folder with two numbers written on it: 1 and 0, and what looked like an ant. It would take quite a bit of channeling to figure out what exactly these were, but it was pretty obvious to anyone who knew what they were and why they were so important.

----------

"When should we tell them?"

"When things get interesting."

"Oh?"

"Let them know after the deed is done."

"It is written as you say. What is the deed?"

"It will know."

"Wise choice of words."

The room slowly became lighter and lighter...

----------

Oh great. Another psychopath. Yosef mentally kept tabs on everyone, especially the ones that laugh at shooting people up. He was so much different now than he was young.

Nikolai didn't really mind manic laughter all that much, he just loved to fight when he was pissed off and he certantly was pissed off and fight he did. He fought with such speed and power that he and Horowitz tied and competed for who could kill fast enough and often traded first.

The fight wasn't house by house, street by street, but it was block by block. Every block that met resistance was soon crushed. Sapper technology was being used on the heroes as well as slow fields and experimental anti-super weaponry such as odd metals tipping bullets and such. Almost all resistance was crushed in the super's advancement.

The flaming haymaker pitched Horowitz forward, combining with his rapid pace to bounce him face-first off a wall... or at least, stick him face first in the wall. Hauling himself loose, he raised his hand to counterattack, then blinked when he recognized Dorian as a 'packmate'.

"Hoy! Hyu schtupid or sometink? De enemy iz de booky-boyz, not de Jagerkin... dey iz not even green!" Waving Dorian off, he charged forwards once more; now that the enemy was deploying more 'interestink veaponry', the Jager's own weapon of choice was out- it might have been an Arachnos mace at one point, if you looked really closely, but now it was a technological nightmare, looking like it had been the victim of multpile mad scientists and spraying streams of plasma that slagged building faces off and burned cars in half. Any trooper unlucky enough to be hit by it probably wouldn't even have time to scream.

Of course, that didn't meant the claws were sheathed... it just meant that troopers were dying far away as well as up close.

"Thank ye, Jack." the veiled figure couldn't help but respond in the manner of a demented pirate, and with a slight bow no less, his broad smile almost visible beneath the cloth that hid his mouth, "And if ye care, call me Sage."

With that, he felt he had nothing more to say for now, turning about-face and starting to walk toward the pyramid in the wake of the destruction ahead, whiling a downright Lucifer-ish tune. By now, there was probably no question that this guy was insane - especially to Yosef - and dangerously so.

Moreover, some sort of malevolent aura seemed to have its clutches about him, and though it did its best to hide, it probably couldn't do so fully with Kamarov so relatively close. If the man really could sense the dark presence of the Necronomicon, chances were good said aura about Sage felt just about like a dozen of the things...
