Why do you post here?

I've been a member of this forum for quite some time now. I generally post in the Virtue sub-forums, and the Screenshots/Fan Art sub-forum.

I post in Virtue to keep in touch with people I'm playing with (in that server), and I post here to share my art (both done by me and collected).

I've noticed though that some other people seem to have different reasons for posting here.

I'm curious about yours.

I enjoy the CoH art community. I honestly don't post anywhere else on the boards at all. I used to post on the Freedom boards a little bit, but now play a lot more casually than I used to.

I also like to share my work and look at the works of everyone else.

It's been a very, very long time since I've picked up a pencil and chalk to do any art work of my own, though it would be interesting to see how that would work out. But for myself, I post in here rarely, though I lurk regularly. I've posted on the costume design type threads or screenshot threads to see what people think of my designs or just to contribute.

I do enjoy seeing the art that comes from this forum though.

I post all over the place. Most of the time, I'm just filling time. I can't really think of a better way to fill it, though, then marvelling at the great works that this board produces (though on occasion, I'm feeling less artsy and more thoughtful, and post observational material on one of the other boards).

So, mostly self-amusement. If I, somehow, manage to amuse others in the process, my job is done. Cue capeswish, and dramatic leap into... most likely a wall, because I never pay attention to where I'm going, and I swear those darn walls have it out for me.

Boredom. Most of the time I'm doing something else online at the same time, or five different somethings, and while I'm waiting on things like saving, loading times, responses, I lurk here.

I post mostly in only a few places; Controller threads relating to Fire/Storm, the Virtue Name Watch thread if I've got a couple of good ones I can't use, and now here.

As for why I post here, so far it's just been to drum up some commissions/commission ideas for this one project. But I'm sure I'll solicit more work via this board and DA.

I post here because I admire the skill of art creation. I admire it because I am completely lacking in ANY ability to put to paper or hard drive an image from my brain.

I am quite skilled in many other areas of life, but drawing/image creation is the one area where I am a complete and abject failure.

That and you're all a bunch of dirty, dirty {censored.}

Be well, people of CoH.

I usually only check here and the Guardian section and at times the badge section for both tips and to help out. I post here cause I'm addicted to COH related art, saw DJ's SG poster that he did via the dev digest on badge-hunter.com and never looked back. Got addicted to art collecting to be honest heh. Scratch that, COH art collecting. I'd previously built up a Maggie sketch collection from various comics artist via cons and FCBDs, which I really need to get back to, to be honest. heh. Those sketches were the only thing I could really put up in my DA account before I started getting actual COH commissions.

I like seeing what COH artists are creating, and what others are receiving. Helps to discover new artists that either weren't on teh resource list or one's that didn't catch my eye right away. Also helps to kinda prioritize which artists I'd want to jump into their commission queues immediately when given the chance.

I post in the Technical Questions/Bugs, Virtue, and Art sections. Hardly anywhere else (except when I went out of my mind going for that last Forum Post badge... ooops. ))

I enjoy artistic endeavors as well as seeing the dramah that comes through every once in a while. Seeing as how most of the people I know post in the art forum, as opposed to the Virtue forums, I come here. There's also a lot of draw from artists that have open art threads, since I'm no less of an art ***** as anyone else.

Also, I need to keep an eye on Scarfy from time to time. >.>

The Guide to BURN

I flunk English, I'm outta here. I get maybe six months grace period and then I gotta get a job, and you know what that means. That's right, they start me at the drive-up window and I gradually work my way up from shakes to burgers, and then one day my lucky break comes: the french fry guy dies and they offer me the job. But the day I'm supposed to start some men come by in a black Lincoln Continental and tell me I can make a quick 300 just for driving a van back from Mexico. When I get out of jail I'm 36 years old. Living in a flop house. No job. No home. No upward mobility. Very few teeth. And then one day they find me, face down in the gutter, clutching a bottle of paint thinner and *why*? Because *you* wouldn't help me in English, no! You were too busy to help me! Too busy to help a drowning man!

I hang out here because there is a WHOLLLLE lot less fluff than on certain other sections that I used to hang out in a whole lot.
Also a lot less catgirl hate. Only lots and lots of love all around. It's a nice place to be.

I post here because they let me.

Plus, I feel I have something to contribute. Once I feel my contributions have run their course, I'll move on.

I suppose I should respond too. I post mainly here and in the Guardian section, with occasional posts in random sections (most often Player Questions when I stray from my norm) depending on my mood and/or level of sanity at the time.

I post here because I love art, I love CoH, and I love the community here. And it's nice to be able to share my art somewhere aside from school. Speaking of which, I really need to do more to share here, but I've gotten myself involved in a personal project in addition to all my work for school. The work for school wouldn't exactly be suitable for posting here since it's not very superhero related, but you guys will be seeing the result of my project when I get done with it. It's probably gonna take me a month or so (a more realistic expectation may be 3-4 months but I'm being optimistic) to get done though, so don't hold your breath waiting to see it. And depending on how it turns out, it might be something that I offer to do for others; but that decision is going to have to wait until after I'm done and know if I can actually pull it off.

I post here to compliment people's art usually. Or partake in the silly threads or threads with questions I think I can help with. Then there are other times I feel like subjecting others to my drawrings.

I lurk a lot these days. Read the forums and occasionally post, but the Screenshots and Fan Art Forum has a great bunch of people and an amazing amount of talent on display.

Almost 30k posts on these forums and you freaking know I'm here for the artz!!!!!!!!!!

Used to post in Justice, the game section and a few other places but i am pretty much solely here now for my community of friends and artists here in the fanart section.

I love that i've been here since the start of the fanart boom. I've mainly been here to support artists and people who love art in general. Not much to critique publicly but in private. In the community i just try and verbally encourage people to do more art! I love seeing characters portrayed through different eyes and skillsets (my characters moreso then others )....

What? I am the Artwhore afterall!

I only lurk around a few other areas here (the general forum, badges, that's about it). I like the friendly, open community here in this forum. I'm glad I delurked.

I post here and read here because I love character art. I guess I'm way too enthusiastic about it right now, it's still exciting and new. Having my own characters done enhances my enjoyment of the game. Sharing the art I've received is a way to participate in the larger community, and I also feel like recognizing the artists by bringing their work to the forum. Hopefully I can help bring some artists to the attention of others, as I know I've learned about a *lot* of artists I love just from browsing through the posts here.

Being around other people who understand and embrace the art-related part of the hobby is a lot of fun. I'm enjoying the forums more than ever before.

I just really dig character art, my characters or those belonging to other players. Seeing them depicted in different ways makes the game more fun, and the world more 'real' to me. And it makes all the characters more a part of the Paragon I play in. I feel more connected to the larger community, if any of that makes sense.

I'm here because this is the coolest section to hang out in and they've not asked me to leave. I lurk in a couple of other sections and have not renewed my subscription to SDMB (the straight dope message boards) and this is a similar gathering of a cool group of people with eclectic tastes and interests. I really enjoy watching artists stretch and grow--and love several of the artists work here. I couldn't draw my way into a national mail order school, but I write and am a fair photographer.

I dig hanging out with other creative people, and in particular hanging out with these creative folks.

I mainly post in the scrapper forums and less so in the Victory Forums where most of my characters are.

I mainly lurk in the art forums as I love to gawk at the stuff. I enjoy watching artists skills develop and improve with each work the produce. I like recognizing the individual styles of each artist. I come here for inspiration for my writings, of which I don't do enough of. I enjoy imagining the stories behind the art.

Artists are a weird lot, at times seeming to speak a different language to me. To be expected, considering the skills of the craft(s). I love getting art work done of my character but sometimes struggle articulating what I want with out getting into a lengthy write up.

Gawking at art is great, but it only exists if artists have the means of creating it. That means someone has to buy it, so I try and do my part. I've been fascinated by many of the "commissions", particularly how easy the trust between artists and clients can be damaged. Just another intriguing people interaction dynamic to added to my fodder for writing....when ever I get around to it

I try to keep my posts here to a minimum, as you can see I can ramble on a bit.
