  1. I decided to skip Stone Prison and Salt Crystals from Earth and then O2 Boost and Lightning Clap from Storm. I just couldn't fit Stone Prison and don't care for Salt Crystals and I figured with the amount of control I was able to dish out with this build, some one else can worry about what O2 Boost provides to the team. I just found that Lightning Clap didn't fit into my playstyle. Oh and I use Hasten and Combat Jumping with the intent to pick up the Earth Mastery set when I get another few levels.
  2. I did this arc the other night with my Claws/Dark Armor scrapper with the game set to no AVs and I got my butt kicked several times by Trapdoor and Weakened Honoree as just EBs!

This thread has prompted me to work out a new build for my scrapper!

  4. Hello,

I just returned to CoX about a week ago after leaving just prior to Issue 13. I had a total of 13 characters on my account when I left, which were all there when I came back (yay!). Today I purchased Going Rogue and wanted to try out a new character but I had no slots available to use (13 was my max apparently) so I decided to delete an alt that I had no interest in. After deletion my max is now 12! As I scroll over to the other character screen it shows slots 13-24 and 25-36 as unavailable! Why is that 13th slot no longer usable? I also thought that GR came with 2 additional character slots, where are those?

Thanks for any help you're able to provide.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw the problem with the store being down.

    Cyborg costumes!

I put some of these in the costume thread above, but here are some shots of my crab spider Cayhill.

Cayhill's new costume using some cyborg costume parts.

Side shot of Cayhill with the HUD up.

    Close up of the HUD.

What costume creator are you using because mine's broken (apparently lol).

You've got what is perhaps the best collection of costumes I've ever seen.

    Agreed.

    Another great costume Powerforge.
  7. Yes, Stone Melee/Willpower is an extremely effective build. Stone Melee is one of the best pairings to Willpower because of its knockdown abilities.

I disagree that Fault isn't as vital to Willpower as it is to other secondaries (or Primaries if you're a Tanker). Fault will knockdown all the foes around you giving Rise to the Challenge ample time to work its regeneration magic will less, if not no, additional incoming damage. Yes the additional hit points makes you more durable, but a major part of Willpowers mitigation is its regeneration in RttC, which synergizes with Fault almost perfectly.

Also, you can do just fine picking up Quick Recovery and skipping Stamina altogether. You should always slot your attacks with endurance reducers though as mentioned in the previous post. You don't need both, though it is pretty nice.
  8. It's been a very, very long time since I've picked up a pencil and chalk to do any art work of my own, though it would be interesting to see how that would work out. But for myself, I post in here rarely, though I lurk regularly. I've posted on the costume design type threads or screenshot threads to see what people think of my designs or just to contribute.

I do enjoy seeing the art that comes from this forum though.
  9. I really like Lumerian, that's a nice design.
  10. Ah cool Memphis, thanks. I searched around a bit and found some cool fonts. Now I just need to mess around with the software a bit to figure out how to manipulate things.

    Thanks again.
  11. Some nice looking costumes there Soulie.
  12. Hello all,

I just recently picked up a copy of Photoshop Essentials 6 to do some photo editing. Looking at some of the wall paper topics in this forum (Powerforge comes to mind) I began to wonder if my copy of Photoshop would be enough to create such a thing? Do you guys use a program like this or something totally different? I've actually never used Photoshop before, so it's going to take me a while to figure everything out. Also, what is used to create the crazy lettering on these wall papers (big bold letters that look metallic and have lightning around them, etc)?

Thanks ahead of time. I was just curious if I would be trying to do something that my software isn't capable of.
  13. Before costume

After costume - I should get a better shot though, it's not the best angle.

EDIT: I had the wrong link in there for my after shot.
  14. Hello Kealys.

The capes are attainable by any hero or villain via a mission once you reach level 20. Same goes for the auras, but your character must be level 30.

Heroes: The mission is given to a level 20 or 30 character by the City Representative in City Hall in Atlas Park.

Villain: Kalinda and Matthew Burke in Mercy Island will give you the missions for capes and auras.
  15. Thanks for the update Luminara.

That's an interesting point you made about the scaling to-hit and Archery's accuracy bonus being moot. Do you plan to argue that the inherent accuracy bonus within Archery should be increased or do you plan to lobby for an entirely different aspect be added to the archery set to supplement for its (near) lack of a secondary effect with this scaling to-hit change?

Holy cow that was a stupidly long sentance.
  16. This is the only one I've seen so far, if SJ actually made this or not, I'm not sure.
  17. Dark Regeneration is one of the best self heals in the game. It has three downsides in my mind:

    1) You must have enemies nearby to use it (it's something like ~420 health per mob at level 50 with no health enhancers in DR).
    2) It has an initial endurance cost of about 33.
    3) It has a to-hit check.

With that said, I would suggest 6 slots in it. 2 accuracy, 2 recharge and 2 endurance reductions are what I would slot for common IOs or SOs. Using sets, you can mix match things to get the desired attributes you're looking for.

Personally, I would still ditch Confront and pick up something else. Focus is a ranged attack that you can use to pull if need be.

You could take Air Superiority instead of Hover if you wanted. AS is a great attack for control. AS paired with Focus will keep anything on its back for the duration of the fight. AS will cause weapon redraw, but I think that won't be much of an issue with I12 on the horizon.

Claw/Dark is a tough one for PvP.

First off, you don't have any KB protection right now in that build, besides Hover. You'll need either Acrobatics from the Super Jump pool (meaning you would have to ditch flight or have 2 travel powers) or you'll need a few of the KB IOs.

Claws lacks the burst damage that you would want for PvP. Claws really shines during longer battles (example: AV fight) because it has lower endurance cost attacks that recharge pretty quickly, but are lower on the damage side. This paired with melee character in PvP are at a disadvantage to begin with makes Claws tough.

Dark Armor is a great set for PvE, but it's a little tougher in PvP. It has a tough time recovering from large bursts of damage, which Regeneration can deal with. Dark Regeneration can help if you're fighting another melee character, but you can't use it if it's a ranged attacker.

I've used my Claw/Dark in PvP before on a team and I had a great time. It just isn’t very good at one on one.
  18. This should have been posted in the Scrapper forum, by the way.

Where the heck is Dark Regeneration??!!

I'm not sure what you plan to slot in your attacks, so it's tough to tell if 5 slots will be enough. I also question why Spin only has 4 slots. It has a larger endurance cost and recharge time than most other attacks, so I would want more slots there (I've got all my attacks 6 slotted).

I would drop confront. It's not a very good power for a scrapper.

Where the heck is Dark Rengeration???!!!!???

Why the 5th slot in Murky? It should be fine with 4 slots (endurance reducer and 3 damage resists or some mix of set IOs).

Cloak of Fear has a huge endurance cost and requires a to-hit check. It's screaming for another 2 slots. I would also urge the consideration to switch over to Oppressive Gloom. It's a wonderful power with hardly any endurance cost, though it does use a portion of your life, but Health will easily overcome this.

Where the heck is Dark Regeneration???!!!???

It appears that you plan to use Hover as your knock back protection (or are you using KB IOs?). Hover is pretty darn slow on its own; I would get some slots in there for flight speed.

Stamina, you do plan to put 2 more slots here, right?

I can only assume you don't plan to do any PvP with this character so I question the use of Assault and Tactics. They are fairly endurance intensive toggles, especially paired with the other toggles you'll be running concurrently. With Follow Up easily made permanent with 2 recharge enhancers, Assault and Tactics really isn't needed for PvE.

Oh, did I ask already where the heck Dark Regeneration is???!!!!!????!!!!????!!!??!?!?

I can’t tell you how excited I am for our game’s future, and although we have some major announcements yet to be made, one of the things I can talk about is a feature that we are planning. Similar in concept to our character creator, it allows you, the players, to create missions and story arcs for your characters and others to participate in. You’ll be able to pick the map, villain group, and objectives, as well as write the dialog and any clues needed for the missions. When you are satisfied with it, you can upload it and have other players across all servers play it and rate it. Fame will come to the players whose stories rate the best overall. It is features like these that we never dreamed of including when we first shipped, but are excited to be able to offer players very soon.

A guide that has *Everything* that you need to know about Archery and that is all you have to say?

I've now got all the Archery attacks I plan to get for my blaster. I'm just picking up one last pool power and then I'm onto the Ice Mastery powers.

Stunning Shot has actually performed much better than I thought it would. Stunning those Spec. Demons has been wonderful. I can't stand that aura they have.

Oh and, yay for Rain of Arrows!!

    Ice/Fire Blaster

My suggestion to you would be to plan out a build with what you think would work and post it in the Blaster forums so people can have a look at it. That way, they can make suggestions on power picks that you've selected/haven't selected and possible slotting strategies. You can use an offline hero planner such as Mids Hero Designer or an online planner such as SuckerPunch's .
  23. Fire/Fire would have access to Fire Sword Circle, which would help ripping through mobs quicker. I haven't played Fire/Energy, but they would have better single target damage with Bonesmasher and Total Focus but I think that Fire/Fire would have the better AoE. At least, that would be my guess from what I've seen using my Fire/Fire.
