A place to brag, rant and share tactics!

I'll start.

I've got three kids, a daughter who's 11 going on 25 in proper maturity, straight A student, 2 sons who seek to destroy eachother daily and leave chaos in their wake, elder son has a photographic memory ( remembers everything he learns ), son two is the Incredible Hulk, and I have another boy in the oven.. dinging around August 12th.

2 boys. Oldest is in All-Stars and is on what looks like a very good team. They don't play their first game until July 4. Since we're bragging, his regular season team came in 2nd, 1st in the tournament and he hit 4 home runs and 37 RBI's. Other talents: plays tuba (because it's manly, go figure) and got a 4.0 GPA.
Younger son also plays baseball and his team came in 2nd. He is the artist and the one who created the look of Queen of the Dawn. He only got a 3.6 GPA because he hates to write, but we're working on that.

Way too happy folks. Allow me to inject reality.
2 children:
Step-Daughter: Looks 16. Is really 13. Acts like she's 9. Barely passing the 7th grade. Poor shape. Bad hygine. Wastes countless hours surfing the net for Anime art or drawing anime art (average art talent at best). Gonna get a rude surprise when she realizes the wireless connection in the house is now disabled 9a-5p during the week.
Son: Almost 6. Incredibly impulsive. Can crunch numbers well above grade level. Athletic, but a little reckless (4 stitches currently). Fearless, alomst to a fault. Prefers apples to french fries. Likes broccoli (ick). Loves Wii Sports.

2 kids:

4 year old daughter who is convinced she is the Queen of the Universe, and that everyone else must act accordingly. Smart as hell already, and making dad seriously worry about life in about 10 years. She's already started reading stuff, and gets impatient that she's not learning faster. And she thinks Tom & Jerry cartoons are the coolest things in the world... which they are.

2 year old son, chip off the old block. Utterly fearless, and lacking in common sense for the most part as well. Cute as a button, smart too, figured out running before he figured out walking... his favorite hobbies are wrestling our rottweiler, and getting women to pick him up and hug him (i blame my wife for the boob obsession, but she says its MY fault...)

As for #3... well.. I'll let the wife get back to you about that... lol

Heya Netminder, my daughter is into Anime too, and I encourage her art. I think she's pretty good. I've also indulged her desire to attend conventions. As long as she gets good grades and helps with her brothers.

There in lies the difference. If she was scoring solid As and Bs, I would be much more tolerent of it. However, failing a class or 2 and some Cs is what I have to deal with. Academics first.. hobbies second.

shouldn't the internet be shut down from 9p to 5a? instead of 9a to 5p?

2 Children...That's it for us!!

Daughter is 11. Acts like she's 17 already. Dreading the fact that she's starting puberty now if not really soon. Whines uncontrollably. Very smart, great grades, refuses to take a day off from school if she's sick. Purple Belt in Tae Kwon Do (she started at 9). As an extra bonus...she keeps bugging the wife and I to let her play CoH under one of our accounts! I say NO...LOL

Son is 8. Acts like he's 4. Hates school or anything having to do with school. Had a tough year grade wise but picked it up late. Will use any excuse in the book not to go to school. Very athletic, Blue Belt in Tae Kwon Do and taking after the old man by wrestling.

Why? Im home between 9p and 5a (and currently the only 2 computers that she can use are on the main floor, not upstairs0. She isnt exactly fleet of foot... that and the dog will probably make noise if she's sneaking around). 9a - 5p.. im not home to monitor her (and i dont trust her). Its up during early morning and evening so my wife can use the inet and my son the Wii.

Mind you eliminating the internet altogether isn't that great of an idea either (spoken from someone with no parenting experience :P ) I'd rather know where my daughter is, then her taking off drinking and partying without supervision!

I agree with the times and feel that works for a lot of kids 3-5p after school is a great time for non-inet home work or chores. After that time it can be used for what ever.

Hey I also run nagios and monitor the Network. I have called my GF in Colorado and let her know to check of her son when he missed typed a url and my pager was alerted. But I am a Geek

3 Kiddos (all look like daddy: mommy hates it) xD

5yr old daughter Loves PBS shows and her nintendo DS she got for her birthday. Starts school in August (Daddy's scared)

3yr old son is autistic but is getting better. He's a handful. He'll take a 15 minute powernap and be recharged for at least 6hrs. He's also our hospital magnet: broken arm at 1yr old and stuck stuff up his nose twice within a month at about 2yrs

5month old son is just the cutest little daddy's boy around. he don't do much but eat and poop and cry. but he'll flash you his million dollar smile if you want him to.

I only have 1; and he's been culture shock for me.

I used to tour 3 months out of the year...

...now I'm lucky if I get to play darts every week.

On the fun side:

Jaden just learned to crawl this week.

We had to child-proof everything in a rush this week, and now we have to watch him a lot more closely.

And yeah, the start of crawling is the beginning of real terror for parents. Up to that point you can put them somewhere, and thats where they will be.

[/ QUOTE ] isn't that the dang truth. Me and Mr. WC have 4 kiddos. Ages 10, 4, 3 and 8 months. Our girl, the 1o year old, know's it all. We are just the dumb parents that keep a roof over her head and food in her belly. The 4 and 3 year old are wild. Running through my house like lil mad men jumping off walls. And then there's baby Odin who makes me laugh until I cry. He is about to start crawling and I know my back is not prepared to chase after him bent over for the next couple months so I dread it. But he is so funny and such a happy lil booger. lol And gratz to the OP on the new bun in the oven!

Ever walk in on 1 year old who's decided to try finger painting their crib and wall with feces? If you can laugh through that, nothing can get to you.
