Was tooling around with my SG's GuildPortal today and figured out something I thought I'd pass along: you can integrate the wiki into your site with the Embedded Page content type, and with a tweak in the URL field you can set it up so visitors can browse your group's articles from a list of links on the GP.

Misfit UHVU Portal

If you enter the URL for the Embedded Page like so:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>http://www.virtueverse.com/" name="uhvu</pre><hr />
(the missing closing quote is correct) you can then target links elsewhere on the same GP page into the Embedded Page frame. Just have to do similarly if you use the Link List content types:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>http://www.virtueverse.com/index.php/Category:League_of_Misfits" target="uhvu</pre><hr />

Though if you make the list in a Freeform/HTML box, the Link Properties window has a field where you can just select "Target" from a dropdown list and enter the target name (uhvu in these examples).

OK. Now that's COOL. Thanks Price. Mind writing up a blurb on how to do that, and include it in the Wiki itself, as part of the Tips and Tricks page?

In other news... we've seen a few page vandals stroll through. Thanks to those folks who have reverted vandalized articles. Recent Changes patrols are very much appreciated.

If you see a vandalized page, review the History to find the account responsible, and then let one of the Sysops know, so that the account can be blocked. Multiple similar accounts usually mean someone's trying to circumvent a ban, and this needs immediate sysop attention.

Thanks for all your help, folks.

Does anyone else here click "random", or click things in the Recent Edit list? Am I the only one that does this?

Here's one I stumbled into today, and thought it was very well thought out and interesting:

Moira Dirge (VV)

I've never met the player behind the mask, but enjoyed the page quite a bit, so thought I'd share it out.

Actually, that's an RC check. I find all sorts of good stuff that way.

Use the markup:

There's more to it (left or right orientation, thumbnail, caption) but for the basics, that's how you do it.

I just put up a page for Reigndance . I still have some to add, but I got her origin and powers in there. I also have one for Invincibelle, but can't post a direct link.

I fixed some pages that were vandalized by a VV user, usually replacing all text with "Courtesy of Mike Frost." Posting here in case someone I reverted doesn't have email notification turned on, so they can check their pages for themselves.

Otherwise, nothing new here. &gt;.&gt;

Yeah, three of my pages were among the ones hit. I even had a friendly page added for me. Might be a good idea to check your VV pages folks.

If someone knows or owns the page for X Brigade, you may want to check your page. Seems it's been hit by this VV user as well.

I fixed that up as I got home, isnt my stuff but I got it restored.

@Mike Frost seems to have grudges.

I'm on it.

And please redact the global - we can't assume that the person performing the malicious edits owns that global ID, not until someone with that ID brags about the act in-game.

Said it in the forums at VV, but repeating again. Thanks for handling the matter quickly.

Agreed! You take good care of us Soul. There ought to be a damn medal sent your way (and to the whole crew that keep VV a living, breathing document of our community).

From above mentioned discussion page:

Just a question. Would it be considered relevant to post the text in costume files? (For example, on Usurper Dyne's page, a link to another article containing his .costume data) With the impending release of Issue 14, other players can make use of these files to create missions with character guest appearances, so I wondered if putting them here would be a more useful way of doing things than waiting for custom content sharing sites to appear (the only one that I know is already out there doesn't have direct user management of the data, unlike a wiki). - Dyne 06:43, 7 April 2009 (MST)

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd say go for it, just make it a subpage of the character, Usurper Dyne/Costume for example. VirtueVerse is for posting information about Virtue creations after all and posting a .costume file's contents isn't much different, in terms of the nature of the content, from posting a screenshot (and takes up less space to boot). If you're comfortable with it being available to the public to do as they will with, share away.

I like this idea...Soul Train, are you okay with this? Because if this is okay with VV I'd like to follow this method.

I don't see a problem with it.

Does it post OK without having to use some kind of rigorous formatting?

I'm at work right now so I've not tested yet, but you could most likely just surround the text with nowiki and maybe pre or code tags to force it to display right. I'm installing a local mediawiki on my laptop for other reasons so I'll find out soon.

Edit: Yep. just surround it like so...
