Overreaction?

Ex, its quite apparent that the Devs did not consider PvP at all when the powerset Proliferation came out.
Forgive us for pointing out the obvious.

I know right? No matter how much you do for PvPers (lol?) they still complain. The devs should just not devote any time to pvp or consider it when they make changes to the game (lol?). That will teach them to voice their displeasure about the current state of things!!!

I'm thinking it's the other way around when I look at some of these sets being ported... See, there's a REASON that everyone just PL's their Psy-Blast Defenders...Heavy Psi Resist Mobs that dominate entire level ranges: levels 3-20: Vahzilok -- levels 20-29: BanishedPantheon ...levels 25-35: tons of Council arcs with Robots. Levels 41+: Almost half of all Praetorian mobs. ...None of this crap is a problem for Villains. ...but for Blasters, it's like shoving a square peg in a round hole just to mess with PvP. Meanwhile on Villains, NRG damage is much more commonly resisted in the PvE game and what blast set did they give us more of? ...yeah, Electric = NRG.

Let's face it... PvP changes haven't been a featured addition since Bases and IOP were Announced. The only way this situation is ever going to get fixed is by making it center stage gain. ...hearing more of the honesty we heard last night. More dialog between the Devs and the players who are interested in PvP... casual PvP'ers as well. Waiting and waiting and waiting is not improving this situation when some the biggest and most loudly-announced features this week hurt PvP more than they helps it and bring no real benefits to PvE either. It lacks professionalism and I know this studio can do better (even if its marketing Dept seems like a lost cause)

I gotta say - the attitude of Ex's post, given her "Tell us what you want - AGAIN" postings of MONTHS BEFORE THIS.

She's ready to be a Developer, I think.

To think I once was willing to defend some of her comments.

Shame on me.

Bah.

Ex Libris was born in Hamburg, the child of a Japaneese Astronomer.

At an early age, Ex Libris learned to fight by Appearing On The Contender.

An early influence was the Witty but Flatulent superhero known as UrbanPriest.

Tragedy struck as Our Hero Mistakenly Killed A Peaceful Alien.

To get over this tragic event, the young Ex Libris took up Breeding Chihuahuas.

She also found consolation in the poignant music of IceEat, which was kind of a fusion between Japanese Percussion and Elevator music..

Ex Libris attended classes at Harvard, receiving a degree in Computer Science.

Ex Libris then moved to Paragon City, taking a job as a Electrician by day, and vowing to end Sedition by night.

Once there, a chance encounter with the Fearless hero known as CaptainProf lead to an invitation to join the legendary Energy Squadron.

From there, Ex Libris carved out a reputation, earning the nickname Chief Executive Officer of Autumn.

To be continued....

Ok wow for one i will say i am a PvPer so i can say this but to all you people complaining, all i have to say is too bad so sad, cause you know nothing is going to be done about it as the game IS NOT A PVP GAME it's a pve game with pvp put in for the small pvp base thats all. Go read your CoX box's again cause i did and i can't find where is says this game is pvp based so please stop wineing on about something that should not even be in the games really there is nowhere near the amount of people into pvp in this game to make pvp worth having. if your looking for good pvp go somewhere else this game is PvE not PvP. In fact PvP was not even in the game until CoV was released.

PvP was introduced in I4. The rest of of your "facts" are also incorrect.

Actually, the reasoning and thought process into power-set proliferation was clearly stated in a post by BaBs this weekend. Part of that thought process is why you're not seeing EM scrappers btw. The eventual goal is to have almost all powers be available to all applicable ATs.

And yes, expecting an action on a list put out less than 2 months ago is complete overreaction.

Yeah, her post came months before. Now when did you guys return with THIS post? The PVP wishlist finished copy?

Right, ok. Keep that number in your head.

Now, ponder this.

According to the Devs. The extra money from the Wedding Pack let them add a new coder in to help finish VEATs early. They WERE going to go into Issue 13.

We all know how many times they have said making a new powerset is a big deal. So. Making an entire archetype must be even harder, not counting story arcs and such.

They must have been working on it for a long time, lets say... six months. Seeing how it's for the NEXT issue, I could see it just sort of being a side thing they worked on while burning the bulk of their time on Issue 12 stuff.

Ok. Now they've been working on the NEXT issue for, number pulled out of my pre-revamped Hollows, half a year.

How long do you think they were working on Issue 12 for? Over a year now?

This is mostly speculation, but I don't feel wildly inaccurate here. The Devs work in Issues for around a year before they hit test. If you wanted something in this issue. You have to get it in THEN. Or be content with your stuff being, at best, slapped on in the middle of production.

What we need is BAB to come in here, like a guiding light, and make another Post of Epic Insight on how Deving works.

In other words, it takes 6 months to a year to begin to implement anything big. So don't expect to see anything on any wishlist this year. Software development takes time.

Story Arcs I created:

Every Rose: (#17702) Villainous vs Legacy Chain. Forget Arachnos, join the CoT!

Cosplay Madness!: (#3643) Neutral vs Custom Foes. Heroes at a pop culture convention!

Kiss Hello Goodbye: (#156389) Heroic vs Custom Foes. Film Noir/Hardboiled detective adventure!

More senior heads than me (Ry? Stasis? Manchu?) might recall the last post from a coding dev to a PVP forum. I've seen no such post since I started PVPing in late 2006. (Plenty of support from Ex, who does not code.) But hey, i12 already contains a groundbreaking PVP-specific feature, so maybe the time is ripe.

Note the total lack of "I PVP a lot and things are fine" posts. Pretty much anyone with a strong interest in PVP over time (whether in gameplay, growing the community or both) is deeply dissatisfied with what's been done to date, both for new features and cleaning up existing features. The current wishlist is only the latest in a long line of community wishlists over the years that have come and gone with little result. (It's true the Arena crash bug was fixed some 18 months after it was first reported.)

As to the wishlist's relationship to current development, much of it is bug fixes, tweaks or small QOL changes, not major feature initiatives. If any sort of bone is thrown to PVP for i12 you might see less bitterness from the PVP vets.

Of course, many feel we will in fact get quite a bit of bone.

Didn't the arena crash bug get fixed by accident?

I believe it was a side-effect of the base-kicking bug that they were working on when they stumbled upon the fix. I do recall there being a call to have arena PvP matches going on test for a series of things, including while TF's were being completed and such.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict
