My, this is all great. Yes, as long as we keep playing (paying), NCSoft keeps us happy. I am glad they had a BIG "2008!"--gives us time to buy the stock.

Also, NC+Sony=WIN++
(Sony gets titles and $, NC gets $ and market, we get more attention/options)

I am cautious about dumbing down CoX for consol, but if done right, should be fun.

Can you see Mom's reaction when she finds Little Johnny in Virtue's Pocket D with the, ah, extreem MRPers?

well i ramble, but change is good if it goes forward and not backwards

Don't fear the great unwashed masses as long as they pay for our fun.

CoH/CoV on console will make it easier to have a second account... won't have to buy a game compatible computer which would be possibly 3X the cost of a PS3 or a 360. For that reason alone, I'm in.

[/ QUOTE ]

depends how they run it, if it's anything like FF11 on the console, you'll still need an account to login.

The person to whom you reply specifically mentioned "a second account" (see emphasis). ^_^ They only meant that a PS3 of 360 woudl cost them far less than a second PC.

Wait!

Maybe the "2008" gaff was real!

NCsoft has the Ouroboros, and is running market/business missions in time travel!

My advice would be to consolidate some of the commonly low traffic servers [...]

[/ QUOTE ]
NEVER. SPEAK. THOSE. WORDS. AGAIN!!

Server mergers would cause more catastrophic problems than they could ever solve, EVEN if it's just done to "move the PC users out to make room for the console folks".

[/ QUOTE ]

I wonder if they are still looking at going "serverless" though like they mentioned a while back they were investigating. I got the impression that was more "inter-connecting" them rather than merging per se.

Personally I hope so.

Yes, teh ability to team up across servers would be very nice. Even just getting the PvP zones linked for cross-server play would be a big boost - at least, for part of the playerbase.

Yes, you understood my original post, Pax.
I know I'd have to pay for a second game account. The point I was making was buying a PSsss, XBox, or Wii to run a second account would be cheaper than buying a second PC to run a second account. My son has the PSsss and XBoxsss, but I'd have to scuttle for a Wii... still cheaper than a PC. For that reason alone I support console CoH/V, because that would be the only way I could get a second account... and I'd really like one.

I have a few questions: Will this mean a CoH 2? Will there be graphical upgrades if there isn't a expansion to bring it up to Linage and Guild Wars? Will more people play a console version of this game and is this another nail in the PC gaming coffin? There has been in my little circle tstating hat console was better than PC due to with all the new games you need to upgrade to keep up and console it is already integrated and cost effective to go console.
I didn't see much on the future expansion of issue 12 or 13 tho but for me 9 and 11 felt incomplete to me and 10 was awesome and overall IMO, but I am getting off track, like I said I didn't see any hints in this article as content goes.
I just want to know what will change for the game overall and what will happen to PC gamers if they make the switch?

... maybe im the only one thinking of this, but everyone is forgetting that the ps3 is bluetooth enabled, hence they make bluetooth keyboards that can connect to the ps3 (i know this cause i sell them all day long) so it doesnt have to be a big jump at all, the entire game can be played rather easily with a bt keyboard. just a thought

You Windows people are quaint. I just run the other copy in another window; Linux is cheaper than buying a PS3 or a 360.

Needing a second computer. Heh.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 also each have USB ports, so a standard USB keyboard should (in theory) work just fine, assuming the console's software is setup to recognise those devices.

Given that the 360 updated it's console OS once, so that it could recognise a new, custom controller? I'd expect either manufacturor to have little to no hesitation to do similarly for standard keyboards, should the capability not already be present.

Hrm.. *rubs chin* with a console version of CoH I wouldn't have to worry about the dialogue box popping up asking for "wut happened!?" when CoH crashes when I zone into Talos...

I know I really shouldn't...but I have to lol at this comment.

*Realizes I do NOT have many problems running the game myself, but I frequent the Tech Forums enough to know that it can be VERY dificult to get things to work well sometimes.

(Nope, not gunna bash any consoles today.....don't feel like getting into that argument again....don't care enough to really invest the time to do the research to back up any comments I may make)

((I want it on the Wii! I'd love to be able to fly around suing the Wiimote....without following some YouTube tutorial to get it to work on a PC))

What the...?!! Those titles sound so lame that I can't even be bothered to look them up. Why are they going to console? They should be given away inside cereal boxes.

The article was interesting...I hope the "city of.." stuff never goes on the playstation 3(the xbox 360 is fine though)...the console is too easily hacked and all it would do is cause the game to be swarmed with people who cheat.(check out ps3cheats.com for an example or some ofhte dash hack network sites)

Take a look at the final fantasy xi gameas aprime example...as soon as it was available to the consumer on the console...bamb...hacked....it was out for the pc first and it didnt have too many problems...as soon as the consoles got it...bamb...super speed hack...infiinte health hack....the list goes on.

In fact so far...only microsoft with the xbox 360 has done anything to actively prevent that sort of thing from happening in their games...to a point...that many hackers are getting irritated and frustrated by the fact that they cant use hack saves or are getting banned formthe xbox live service.
(i site the forums for xbox live and again the hack sites out there that will confirm what i am saying)

If the game came out on the xbox 360....i would definately get it. On a ps3...nope....dont think so...just not enough control mechnism there(it has a horrible problem with its hardrive and keyboard support).....not to mention if it did come out onthe ps3...i might end up terminating my account becasue of the rampant hacking that would be caused by its console availability.

O_o all I'm seeing there, are standard cheat codes ... stuff put into the games by the people making them ... not "hacks". What's the big deal?

Technicalities aside, there are other considerations that MAY gum things up a bit. With PCs and their content, it is pretty much open range, they are not proprietary. However, consoles are a whole different animal. There are policies and politics involved here.

Microsoft is adamant about their developers supporting XBOX Live. Even the PC titles now, if you want the "Gamed for Windows" text on your boxes, you have to comply to their "Standards"

Sony, in my opinion, is even worse. Why did everyother console putting four controller slots into the machine and Sony was still putting out Multi-taps? What do you have to buy the harddrive for PS2 seperately? Because they want you to spend more on the console with all of its peripherals!!
When HOME goes live, everyone of their developers is going to be required to support it, no matter how janky, unprofitable, and a resource waste it may be for some companies. Many times when I worked for Sony. they demanded that the developer change content as they wanted or that title was not coming out on ANY Sony consoles. How many here would puke if they saw a Crash Bandicoot/Solid Snake/Cloud Stryfe TF or a Sephiroth/SweetTooth SF?

Basically, they have company egos: "Hey, we are Sony, we are number one!!" "Our sales are actually exceeding our predictions, we just aren't going to tell you what those predictions are." Whatever makes the public THINK that they are number one and only thinking of "our customers". The one exception to this is Nintendo, they don't care who is number one, they only care that they are profitable, so a lot of times, you wont even hear from them. And look at where they are now compared to the N64 days.

All in all, I hope that NCsoft puts out console exclusive titles for PS3 as to not affect us. Marvel Alliance type of game is a good idea. Maybe a Devil May Cry type of game with Statesman or Mant. Many years ago, Obsidian came out with the Baldur's gate PS2 versions, and these were great fun, something like these would be awesome. However, I have NO desire to be in a mission waiting for my teammate's or mentor's PS3 connection to load the level for 10 minutes, or the 360 connection during a Hami or Rikti raid... I can see the smoke pouring out of the machine now.

On a side note, the Nintedo Nunchuks would be very interesting to see handle COH, actually having to throw their hands up to summon a pet, or get into sniper stance and build up your shot.... hmmmm...
