Thanks for the help everyone, Im going to try damage at first, and then give the other suggestions a try.
-
I looked around ten minutes for some information that directly applies to my question, but I only got references, so I am hoping to get a blessing from the build geniuses.
I have a bots/bubbler MM. I read somewhere awhile back that set bonuses from the IOs do not affect the pets. Is this the same for the Incarnate Alpha power as well? I have gotten conflicting info in-game, so I thought I would come here and get the straight poop as it were. Yes.... I said poop.
If it does not, my MM has three attacks and then a hold and an immobile from Mako. Other than the endurance Incarnate, I can't really think of how any of the others would do much. Maybe the regen one for the heal? But outside of that, I am kind of wondering what to do with him Incarnate wise. -
I am still here, just been on at odd times, I will be on a lot this weekend, mostly in the afternoon evening. That when I do my ITF constitutional.

Quote:SF does have a Bucca Di Beppo, and I remember that some people actually enjoyed it in SJ last year. Many of the ladies especially enjoyed the cheesecake.... and lots of it. A great breakfast/brunch/lunch spot is Brenda's Soul Food. Triple D has had Roccos on, that is a bit further away from the elephant tho. Also the Tee Off is really far away from the event, but their Mac and Cheese is legendary. I will be down for whatever, just no fast food.I got word that TJ will be making it out & will be coming in on Friday. Anyone else coming in early?
Still need to get in touch with friends about any recommendations or suggestions they might have, but one thing I've been toying with is checking out places featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Inns & Dives"
Personally, I'd be up for doing a Chinatown lunch, but given my preference to include as many people as possible & TJ's aversion to asian cuisine, I'm hoping we can find another venue that is equally appealing to all involved.
Though I gotta say, now that you've mentioned it, I now want to figure a way to work in a meal in Chinatown sometime over the weekend. Ooh... Dim Sum on Sunday maybe? Anyway, since you're here & posting, any recommendations for places to go in Chinatown DD? (They don't have to be Dim Sum places, Dim Sum just occured to me as a possible good thing to do in San Francisco kind of thing. Any suggestion would be welcome!) -

My 2 cents from a 6 year vet:
I think the above mentioned "PVP SGs" did a lot to diminish the desire for a lot of people to do PVP. You can say "Well, this helped weed out the casual PVPers and whatnot to give the avid PVPers more of a challenge." No one likes to be degraded or put down regardless of what they do, do you? Most people come play COH to relax and have a good time away from the daily grind, not to get on and have someone insult them. If you want to be insulted over your playstyle or your enhancing or whatever, please go play WOW, there are tons of experts over there that will tell you why they think you suck. I think the player base for COH is much more mature. What if I went a played you in a round of golf, and every time you missed a putt or shanked a drive, I tear into you with "You SUCK!!! I OWNED YOU!!!!" I seriously doubt you would stick around for the back nine if I started that kind of behavior. I know I wouldn't. Would you give a ride to someone that constantly berrates your driving, or would you give him a dollar for the bus and be done with him? That kind of behavior really has nothing to do with PVP as much as human nature. A lot of people have said in the past, "Too bad, that is part of PVP, if you don't like it, then don't PVP." Guess what...
Another issue with PVP is that there is zone and Arena PVP. For a while I really enjoyed the zone PVP when it came out. But after a short while, many times you go into zone PVP, you can get any balance. Go in now and there will be 5 villains and one hero as an example. Well obviously that hero is going to get hammered just by sheer numbers, so why stick around if they don't even have a chance. Regardless if all 5 are teamed and working together or they are all individually doing missions, there is no way for the hero to tell that, so he exits the zone and does something else. In Arena, you can somewhat balance it, but the Arena maps are much smaller and are pretty much a kill count. The zones all have different aspects to them and are huge in comparison to the Arena ones and have NPCs in there for a bit of flavor. So that was PVP v PVP v PVE loooong before Aion coined that term. If there was some kind of queue or way to balance at least the numbers of players on each team in the zone, I think more people would play it.
I think another big problem for PVP is the scoring of it. As far as I know, the player that gets that last hitpoint gets the kill regardless of what anyone else has done. This may have changed in the last year or so as I have not done PVP in that time. In Sirens, you may get part of the bounty IF you are on that team, but if not, you may get nothing at all for your work. Example: A brute takes a scrapper down to 100 hitpoints, and a stalker from another team or not on a team lays the AS on the scrap and he drops, does the brute get anything for that, or was him pulling off the 1800 hitpoints just a setup for the stalker? What about a healer? I went into Siren's one time with my friend on his main which was a Grav/Emp controller. He had no pet, a few holds and a lot of buffs. So he did some buffing and tried a few holds, but after an hour, he had earned next to nothing. He could have completed half a TF in an hour, yet with that build in Siren's, he came out with next to nothing, I think he got a free SO from someone, but other than that, he felt he has wasted his time. Take what you will from this, "That's a bad PVP build." "He should have done this or that..." He should be able to enjoy it without having to adjust too much for it or he won't do it. I think they should give honor points for the amount of healing, holding, debuffing, buffing, etc that you do anytime in PVP, just not get the kill.
Have you ever tried to do something that you just felt you were no good at? Did you just get into your car and start driving? Did you mom ever show you how to cook a specific recipe? A lot of people don't PVP because they feel they don't know how. If they had someone to show them how or mentor them, than I think quite a lot of this would change. However, when I have mentioned this before, a LOT of the hardcore have some back with "No one showed me how to..." or "Why would I show someone how to kill me." etc. I think this is where some of the PVP community splinters. Some would rather spend 20 minutes killing you over and over again. 20 kills to nothing. He owned you and made you his b#$@. Who out there would like to be his b#$@!? I know I wouldn't. But some PVPers want this for whatever reason. Then there are others who would rather have a match 20 - 16 for example. He did beat you, but you gave him a run for his money and he had to play at his utmost best to defeat you. At this time, on this day, he was better than you, but just barely. If you would like the latter, it may be in your best interest to mentor and help those who don't PVP to encourage them to do more. Up to you guys on whether this is what you want or not, but this is more attractive to the non-pvper than never having a chance at all.
I haven't heard of anyone doing base raids for a long time, I thought they were still broken. However, I know quite a few SGs that woould never put their base up in a raid considering how much time and effort they have put into it. They have spent hours upon hours, upon hours designing and making their base a good home for their SG. I doubt any of them are going to go ahead and open the dor for a group to come in and undo in 20 minutes what it took them days to create. Since they have the base editor sytem in place, and now Mission Architect system in place, why not a Base Raid Architect in place. Everyone can add their base creations to a kiosk and teams can go on the offense and defense in them and then rate them?
So all in all, I don't think the PVPer is a bad person or good person, he just likes frisbee golf and I like the traditional golf. If you want me to play more frisbee golf, just make sure it is fun for both me and you and I'll play it more. If not, don't be upset if I turn you down. But I think the design of PVP itself needs work, not necessarily tweaking powers, but making it accessible and fun for even the most casual player without a serious PVP build. He may not "Own" anyone, but he should feel like he participated and got something out of it. Anytime you do anything in an MMO you shoould get something out of it being, cash, points, badges, PVP, merits, etc. The risk vs. reward is not there for a lot of people, you go in and risk getting worked for 20 minutes and your rewards is... what? -

150% Highjacked :P:P
I am curious though, is Nakoa that stone tank I ran an ITF with?
We can have the M&G and your new house! Everyone wear your golf shoes and cleats. :O:O! -
Nest year they need to have cocktail service available in the LAN room!!!

I started this thread because since Hero-con, everyone has asked me when we are all getting together again. Next Hero-con is too far away and if we meet at the Doubletree twice in one year, we may have to take out second mortgages just to park there. So here are a few options that came up in my small, bourbon marinated brain:
1) Friday after Tanksgiving? not a mispeelling, I LOVE tanks.
2) Xmas/New Year break, maybe the weekend after Xmas
3) Weekend after New Years
Now we have a big area to cover too, I want to make it accessible to everyone as we can. So if anyone has any ideas for a spot that is somewhere halfway between the Bay Area and Sac would be preferable. Unless the Sactos don't mind the drive or carpool down. But before we go to this end, do the above dates spark any interest? If it does, please reply and we can plan from there. If you have no interest in these dates, feel free to send me a bottle of Basil Hayden. -

Things I learned at the Hero Con... btw, I am never SFW. If you have stomach issues or a light constitution, you may want to go watch the Shield or Son of Anarchy for a break from the hard stuff.
NEVER EAT OFF THE ROOM SERVICE TRAYS LEFT IN THE HALLWAYS!!!! I heard someone did that, it takes a LOT to sicken me. If the sight of already eaten food makes you hungry, you should stop drinking immediately!
Justice not only represents, but we can drink like a barroom full of sailors. I am very proud of all of you!
The food at last years dinner was much, much better.
Pants are a complete waste of time and money.
Joe Morrisey is extremely cool, also Clark who ran the resume review was very kind and helpful.
I think the devs are somewhat scared to drink with us, after the fourth round, I noticed that they all sort of ... left.
As TA said, Parking Fees for people who are spending money in your hotel is an obvious and atrocious ripoff. Doubltree looses class points for that nonsense.
Also, charging 8 dollars for a beer and ten for a shot is next to criminal. These were the prices in the event rooms, they prices were two dollars less in the lobby bar... that does not make too much sense, but 8 dollars for a pot of Tea and 4 dollars for a small bottle of WATER is just silly. Many of the people going to these events are already on a budget, is it more important to make the guest happy with their stay or get the two or 3 extra dollars per item out of them.
The real TJ is a true Texas gentleman. I have seen through his act, I think he has a career in audio books readin Louis L'Amour novels. He was a great addition to the weekend.
Noticing that Sass was not there... AGAIN!!!Just not as fun without you slapping my face...
I am going back to Buca, and I swear to all that is Tremorr, I am going to find something there that sucks if I have to stay there all week!! When I do go back, the first thing I am going to do is have them show me where the bathroom is so TA and I don't end up somewhere in Utah looking for it.
Next year, we will try and sit further away from the Night Club to avoid 1) Shroud getting molested by erroneous blue hairs (or bleached blondes). 2) Not seeing some guy with the worst hairdo I have seen in a decade. It was like a comb over, except he combed it around the back so it looked like some faux ceasar's crown with turkey grease to cement it in place. And then he tied the two ends together in the back so it looked like a runny shoelace. I'd rather go back to last years hotel and look at the rotten broccoli they had decorating the lobby.
Flamedwarrior has this wierd little thing for her contacts, it stares back at you... bizarre.
The Doubltree has some very nice, patient, caring, professional and somewhat humorous waitstaff in the hotel lobby.
Sleep is just slightly more important than Bacon Waffles, I will try next year or maybe go down there with some buddies some Sunday afternoon to see how big pigs we are.
I learned there is a huge Bay Area Justice contingent, we need to exploit this and have some "mini-cons", I know this bar called Lost Island in Alameda...
And lastly, and I may forget some names, but I was drinking too... the con is much better with friends like: Flamed, TA, Somber, Shroud, Syren, Sage, Freek, Manoa, Red G, TJ, Diamond Dragoon, Neutra, Syrus B/Liz, Frog, Megs from Stockton Group and her husband, Dark Respite and her decadent brownies, and the Devs of course. -
Our formula is this:
K Nut(I'll let you figure out what the Nut stands for) + The Cougar + Basil Hayden = Rode hard + Put away wet -
Quote:This just in...no need for teh missing! I've been extremely bored over the vast amounts of nothingness to do over the past month and am in serious need for something positive to take my mind off things. Somber and I are in desperate to get out of Sactown for a couple days and with the extremely tight job market, it appears that there will be no interviews next week that will conflict with the con...so we've decided to take the plunge and sign-up for HeroCon after all.
So RG, please disregard my earlier disregard and please add two more to the list!
Also, we'll be driving from Sac and can offer carpooling for 2-3 people (depending on how cozy folks can get).
The con just keeps getting better and better. Tell Somber I'm coming, and I'm bringing bourbon with me.... -
Quote:OK, per the requests, I've rolled the start time back to the originally planned 5:30pm. I've made the change in every post of mine I could find so that anyone going back will see it as 5:30pm, so hopefully no one will get confused.
Also, I've asked if the meatballs could be served on the side to accomodate anyone with vegetarian sensibilites. The up-side to this is you won't have to try to carve up the ginormous mega-meatballs on the spaghetti & risk spaghetti sploosh! You might just get sauce sploosh if the meatballs are served in/covered with sauce.
heh heh..... he said sploosh.... heh heh......
I might not be able to make it at 5:30. Reason being is that they are doing a special pre-event on Friday that starts at 4:00. I am hoping to get that done and over to Bucca by 5:30, but thats smack in the middle of rush hour, so I may be a little late. -
Quote:LOL.... why do you think I drink as much whiskey as I do?...
And still going. How have you guys put up with me for this long? I can't believe i just made 4 new characters. I guess this game has staying power huh?
The game and the community just keep getting better for me. -
-
I will be there and whatever we do Friday night I am down for. So all the items are good as long as I don't get mushrroms or flaked fish, I'm allergic. But having gone to Bucca for many years now, yes it is above average on price. Might I suggest we three different restaurant options varying on price? I agree with what many have said here about the economy and their personal finances. For many, this will be a bit of a struggle to not only get to, but afford and justify to family for what many perceive as just a game. I would like everyone to enjoy the weekend without the stress of worrying how their finances are going to be stressed by coming.
Also, in preperation for what is likely to come, we should try and find a discount liqour and a grocery store nearby, this will be much cheaper than the hotel prices if someone wants a "pop" or their toothpaste exploded all over their cape.
In defense of Mardun, and I hope you are that awesome BS scrap on justice I teamed with way back, $1500 dollars is way too much. I'm sure there are ways to decrease that amount through discounts and early reservations, but if it is too much of a burden for you, then don't. It is more important that you can afford to stay in the game than come to this event. HMMMM.... Maybe there is a way for NCNC to simulcast or live broadcast the dinner event or something?
On a side note Mardun, we here in the SF bay area are really starting to develop a good crew of players that meet somewhat regularly, I'm sure there are a lot of players in your area too that you can get together with. Make you own mini-con or meet and greet at some restaurant/bar, those are much more affordable. Just pops from the peanut gallery... -
Hhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllss ssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And they have one of these in Santa Clara near Hero-Con, this is Scimi's next stop:
web page
And Sass... Chewie thinks I'm DAM sexay!! The carpeting matched the curtains! -
I really enjoyed all the nudity!
And the milkshake I got was pretty good... the beverage kind....
The company outshined the food tho, that was the reason for going. Chewie gets my vote for mascot, I loved how he went after the dog that was ten times bigger than he was and the bigger dog wasn't having any... Chewie is a true scrapper!
The bay area has tons of great and fun places to meet, activites and events. Just let us know and we can come up with some fun, interesting stuff to go and do. How do you all feel about Roller Derby? Niners & Raiders? Food festivals?
This is in two weeks and usually is great fun, but going home, u might want to leave the windows down:
