A "Seattle based" charity?

I think it bears mentioning that this is spear-headed by the guys who make the gaming webcomic Penny-arcade. Just to be all specific and stuff =)

I absolutely love the idea, but I'm not so sure I should trust the fact NCSoft has gone ebay XD

I would love to have helped too, but the prices already are higher than I can afford right now (especially since I already did X-mas shopping @.@). Anyway, good luck with gaining a good amount of money to give to Child's Play :3

I dunno if my PM about Child's Play to Lighthouse started it or not, but I'm glad regardless. I waited too long to order something (should'a done it earlier, I could have ordered a lego star wars game for one of our local-ish hospitals) and ended up just paypal'ing money into the Child's Play general pot.

I'm not to familiar with ebay's layout, but can people from the UK bid on the statue or just those from the US?

I don't know... i might seem odd, but i would total buy a in-game badge for 10 bucks if i knew it was for a good cause.

Yea, is it an attempt to avoid making it look like Penny-Arcade advertising? Cause it's not like there aren't already a lot of PA fans here.

Oh, awesome.

As an Enforcer for the Penny Arcade nation, there is really nothing I participate in every year that brings me as much satisfaction as Child's Play. Even PAX, for which I run myself into the ground... as some of the NCpeople might or might not recall.

Child's Play is an international charitable organization started by the creators of the Penny Arcade webcomic in 2003. Hospitals in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and even Egypt have become recipients for toys and games from those whom love them the most. Gamers.

The auctions are already well past my ability to pony up, and probably several of you are facing the same issues. And looking at that sweet Recluse statue with a tear in your eye. But, perhaps, you might find it in your heart to drop by the CP site and donate a bit to ease your soul. A dollar or a thousand, it all helps. It also helps to show the world we gamers are socially conscious.

Or do what I do. I've been working to add CP to the charities the places I do business with have in their official charitable contributions list.

Jebus, I'm pontificating here like whoa. I'm just passionate about CP, is all. So, to the team... I know I speak for those whom have also taken up The Black when I say THANK YOU for supporting the cause.

Since the charity has taken off well on it's own, the need for the PA label has kind of fallen off. The CP site itself doesn't even make mention of PA until you read the FAQs on the 'About' page. It's now an entity that doesn't need PA to survive... and this auction is one reason for that.

But it doesn't hurt. ;D

my only beef is that the PA guys are WoW players :P

but it's for a great cause

[/ QUOTE ]

I keep trying to fix that. Eventually, they'll get sick of WoW and I can lure them over... Like I've done with so many others... >:]

Great idea! That Lord recluse statue is hella nice.
I just wish they would offer international shipping, even if it was an extra few dollars for the winning bidder.
Being an ebayer and living in Canada, it's a HUGE annoyance to see something I really want, and then read that it ships ONLY to the US.

For those of you in the UK, I am pretty sure there are some great charities that are UK bound and that our EU team would love to support.

Feel free to email me at exlibris@ncsoft.com and I can contact our EU community team and send the feedback along.

I'm really happy to see all the support for this, Cuppa Jo deserves all the props on this side, she has been our Community Rep doing all the work behind the scenes for NCsoft, hopefully we will get a quicker jump next year and have a lot more items out there to raise funds and support.

Already way out of my price range, and I'm not living in the US. *sad*

I already donated to Child's Play this year (as I do every year since I discovered it; great cause), but I'm sorely tempted to make another donation. I mean, I don't need the rename/transfer tokens that badly...

Ex, your Childsplay Logo link is pointing to the image's location on photobucket. It should probably be pointing to:
http://www.childsplaycharity.org/

Also, glad to see some official support for Childsplay. This is something that gamers should really support. When people bring up all sorts of negative things about our hobby, its nice to be able to say "Our community raises millions of dollars for sick kids to have opportunities to have fun"

If people want to donate to a specific hospital near them or can't afford the price of the auction items, you can click on those little controller icons on the main page to get their wishlists. No doubt those items are going to run into the hundreds of dollars, which may be out of some peoples price range. But $30 bucks for a DS game or something, just about everyone can swing that.

I'm bidding on the staue anyways, even though I am also Canadian. I'm sure something could be worked out or you could find an address to borrow in the states. Might be odd bringing it thru customs though...

I don't think there will be issues with shipping Ol' Recluse where Customs is concerned. I've imported weapons into Canada before. Bottom line- if it's not prohibited by Canada's laws, then you can usually import it. A collectable statue? No problem!

I do wish they would at least state that they'll ship anywhere in North America, though. Good call on the UK auction idea too.

This is a fabulous idea, and I would dearly love to participate.

However, it's fast moving out of my league.

Why don't you add some smaller items? T-shirts, bumper-stickers, that sort of thing, get 'em signed by devs. Items that are not likely to cross the 3 digit mark.Maybe get Troy Hickman to autograph the CoH comics he wrote.

Like I said, I'd love to participate... but this is too rich for my blood.

Sure, always glad to help. Of course, my signature on anything usually depreciates it...

It's pretty naive to think those are going for cheap. They're collector's items, lol

Anyway, I'm glad the price is going up nicely for Child's Play :3

Why oh why would you guys wait so long to get this out? Two weeks earlier and I could have gotten that signed CE instead of the normal ol' cruddy CoH/CoV CEs. *cries himself to sleep*

Bull's eye. Only three players get to take part in this - less if one person grabs more than one item! But I think I would rather get a costume option than a badge. That kind of option is one we can choose to show or not show. If I'm going to donate to a charity, I would really rather not brag about it by having it as a badge. (But then, if I do "brag" about it, it will encourage more folks to donate. Or is that just an excuse so that I can brag about it? Or is that excuse really an excuse so I can avoid talking about 'hard' subjects like charitable donations? Eeesh... I hate sitting on fences.)
