PLAYER GUIDES--Help us keep it clean!
One of my old guides
Another one
This EvilGeko cat has written a lot of crap
Do you think he keeps writing these things for the attention?
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
Ex, can we PM you links to threads that we didn't create?
There are two examples I'm thinking of.
1. threads that aren't guides, but questions that would have been better placed in an AT forum.
2. threads that are so damn old they have no value as advice in the current game. These are posts which have essentially become snapshots of a different game.

I would argue that we keep some of these around for historical value. They are pretty valuable in showing how things have changed throughout the game.
Um Ex? You are speaking about yourself in the third person. Does Mandu have to remind you of proper grammar or is he perceiving the beginnings of multiple personality disorder.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
It could be someone else is using Ex Libris' forum account to post (she might be AFK), or she's being possessed or just felt like speaking in 3rd person...
yeah that was totally in third person... hmm perhaps Ex wasn't present that day and her evil twin took over.
She will be more careful about her dualistic tendencies rearing.
Oh was I doing it again just now?
Questions, and old threads are relevant to this process. Questions can be moved over to the other forum, which is also marked to not purge.
Anything we can do to keep the clutter down and the boards sailing smoothly is great with me.
Ex
Maybe send a PM to guide contributors asking if they mind if the guides are deleted rather than just outright deletion?
Or could we possibly get a subforum of "Current" Guides (those done with the last couple Issues) and "Archived" Guides (everything else, like Issue 1-7 guides)?
hey Ex, here's more feedback.
I was going to compose a PM to you with links to old questions and guides to be moved. Here's the thing. I had to stop almost immediately after starting. Why? I had added the links for every single thread on the last 5 pages of this forum.
I really think you can delete the last 200 threads without even looking.
If you do really want a list of questions to move and quides to contemplate deleting, i'll go back and do it but for my money, I'd just nuke the last 200-300 threads from orbit.
Level 50 is a journey, not a destination.

Thanks for linking.

I would disagree with any kind of blanket approach. For instance, one of my favorite guides is an i2 or 3 Illusion/Empathy Controller guide. While the powers have changed markedly, the author has some sage advice about the build in general and it's a well I've gone back to several times. (I would like to update her guide with relevant power info updates without changing its structure, but I feel it would be inappropriate to re-write someone else's guide without permission.) So definitely, please do review anything that's not someone's obsolete version of a current guide. Some of them can be more valuable than you'd think.
You can safely drop my old Hamidon Guide, I only put it up to provide a starting point until good guides could be written.

Those are the old issue 9 versions of my /Stone armor Need for Speed guides, the issue 11 guide is on the way.
Reminder: With those of you updating old guides etc. please make sure you link here with guides that need to be removed. This section does not purge with our maintenance so keeping it clean is important and needs to be done by the community.

I just updated my Fire/EM guide from I7 to I11. Purge at will.

My Empathy/Psychic Blast guide has been updated for Issue 11 here.
Consequently, these two guides can now be deleted :
Issue 5? I think...
Issue 8 (please can the guide to guides page also be changed?)

Hi you can delete at your convenience the guide here at

I've uploaded a newer version with many changes already.
Thanks
Hello, Ex. I need a thread deleted. I ran into too many problems trying to cover two powersets for three ATs in one guide, so I am writing two separate guides, instead.
Here's the link

I have updated my Thresholds CoH: What to Do When guide through i12. The old i7 guide can be deleted.
If possible, please update the Before You Start - Preparing to Play post of the Guide to Guides thread. My old guide is linked within the "Guideposts to look for / Long range planning" section.
Thank you.

Still didn't delete this one yet as I asked earlier:

You can also remove this one:

My Guide about the Forum Star System has probably outlived it's usefulness.
I mourn to say that, of course. It's probably the only productive thing I've ever posted around here. /cry
I'm Tealeaf, and I approve of this message.

The Combat Handbook v 2.0
has now been replaced by version 2.AWESOME!
Heh, basically just a formatting and bug-fix version, but you can delete the old one and replace it's listing.
Because this forum is marked to not purge so that we don't lose any valuable information, it is common for us to gather in some dust, out dated guides, orphans, and just plain trash.
If you see an item that should be removed from this section please PM Ex Libris with the link or post to this thread and she will review the thread.
It is always best, especially if you are already linked on the guide to guides to post updates to the end of your old guide, PM Ex Libris with the links and any instructions and she can edit the OP of your original linked guide and delete your update posts.
Any help keeping this forum clean and up to date is much appreciated.
Thank you,
Ex Libris
