party in ex libris' room!

I really like the carpooling idea...makes it easier for everyone to set up a designated driver if they need one. If everyone needs a meeting place and isn't too concerned with a meeting spot that is too terribly close to downtown, I can offer our hotel for the initial meeting grounds. We're staying at the Amerisuites near Dave and Buster's (I wanted a place nice 'n close to the meet 'n greet so I could stumble back to the hotel if I had one too many "refreshments" ).

Or, party in Ex Libris' room is a viable option too!

Actually, carpooling from the Amerisuites is a very very good idea. Much easier to park that way too.

D8< <--supreme angryface that I can't make it even now that I've changed my mind about braving the drive and being in a strange city

That's true, Austin is a strange city. Can't deny it.

The D&B is a little far from downtown, but i don't mind driving out there. We'd probably want to wait until after traffic died down, though, before meeting up.

We might want to PM some cell phone numbers around to stay in touch (especially giving them to Ex Libris, since she won't be in until later).

Is this thing full and "closed" or is it still possible to join? I'm from Houston and went to school about 2 mins from Austin so I have a few friends up there still! I was thinking I might want to make the trip up there if there's still room, but I thought I'd check before calling friends and arranging a place to stay!

[/ QUOTE ]

The official registration was closed long ago but we have prepared extra gift bags etc so that people who show up and get on the wait list can get some love.

The worst thing that happens is you have to hang out in Dave and Busters with others that didn't get access to the party room.

The best thing that happens is...well that would be from your perspective so I will leave it alone.

Nobody will be turned away from Dave and Busters, and if you know your Community Rep at all I will be player both Hero and Villain for my peeps. I have my camera charging, and yah, yah, yah I am ready.

GO GO Gadget Mapquest.

That works for Discochild and myself. We're staying at the Embassy that's right next to DnB. We too wanted to be within stumbling distance of our hotel Miss Informed has my number already and I'll PM it to you later as well Manoa. We're def down for some 6th St. action, totally forgot how to get there though, lol. I do remember very clearly that parking sucks horribly around there, just like everyone else is saying.

I think I'll save my energy for Saturday only. But I'll send what I got to feed your karma for Friday night. Hope everyone has a blast!

Be well, people of CoH.

I'm staying at the EconoLodge just down 183 from DnB, and wouldn't mind getting in on the carpooling. Heck, I can even play DD for some of my fellow forum-goers since the old body doesn't like it anymore when I ingest alcohol. I miss my buddy Jack at times like these.

Since I'm not far from where the rest of you are staying, I'd even be willing to taxi or drive to the closer hotels to meet you there and then leave as a group. Unfortunately, I rented a fairly small car or I'd volunteer it for carpooling duty. Maybe the local Enterprise will have to upsize me for free, since they are often out of the smaller cars, and I can wind up providing the car if that occurs.

I'll likely stop at a good steakhouse early in the evening and get a meal, just haven't decided where I really want to eat. MissInformed has my cell number if she hasn't erased it from her phone, and I'll PM Neutra and Manoa to let them have it as well.

If enough people from my server hit the same place, I can already see the headlines in the Saturday Austin American Statesman "Justice Invades 6th Street, Insanity Follows".

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

NEWS BULLETIN:

This just in, we were notified that we will have "Defuser" from "Who Wants To Be A Super Hero," at the event. He will be there and available for photos and autographs, I am not certain about a fee as there may be one to support his chosen charity.

Yeah me because I get to sit by him and doodle my autograph too!

This is getting exciting!

I might see if I can get out of this wedding so I can come to Austin instead. We'll see, though.

Oh wow, awesome! Now all you have left to say is that there's going to be an Issue 11 Announcement at the MnG and I think we'll all explode.

We wouldn't have enough mops in the place...

I'm assuming this is going to be more Tabula Rasa centric... although Diffuser showing up is going to make things interesting.

Well, I work Friday night, which is what people seem to be talking about here (unless I'm misinterpreting things), but I'm up for gatherings before or after the event. I don't mind hauling a few other people around, either (room for 3 or 4 besides myself in my car, depending on size).

Well, we're all chatting about doing 6th Street Friday night...but we're not limited to just one pre-meet 'n greet get-together. If you'd like to do anything Saturday before the event or Sunday Balorn, I'm sure at least a couple of us will be available. Got any ideas/preferred times? Heck, if all else fails, we all gotta eat! (one of my favorite things is chillin' with friends over food and chattin' )

I have an early night of it Friday, but I'll willing to take people out for breakfast (brunch) Saturday too.
I was hoping to have some dinner with people before turning you loose on the innocents of 6th St (yes, I did mange to type that with an almost straight face) on Friday.

drinking on 6th street happens to be one of my areas of expertise.

Me recomendations would be:

For hangin out drinking- Dizzy rooster (kind of loud, but a damn good time, my favorite bar)

Blind Pig- sweet view of 6th from upstairs on the huge balcony, plenty of room for lots of people

I dont really do the dance clubs though, so maybe someone else can chime in there lol.

So here is an update!

For any of you that didn't get on the official registration there is an undisclosed number of open tickets. Please show up early, not too early mind you but early to get on the wait list and hopefully you will be one of the open slots let in at the opening.

Cuppa hooked me up with the info!
