Austin Meet & Greet ~ Dave & Busters ~ Sept. 22nd!

Outstanding! As I live in Austin, I can't believe I didn't notice this event before now!

I could not find a place on my account page to register, but judging from Ex Libris' comments, I'm going to assume registration has already closed and to just post my attendance here. Since my office is right next door to D&Bs, it'd be crazy for me (a 2-year vet/altaholic still obessed with COH/V, playing mostly on Protector, Freedom, and Champion) to miss out on the fun. Count me in!

Yeah, we're doing something Friday and I know I'm going out for some "refreshments" in the evening Friday night. Nothing too crazy though since I actually want to look presentable Saturday, lol. We'll def all get together though both days. I know I want to get to DnB early.

That's cool. I wanted to err on the side of caution since travel plans can sometimes go awry and figured that there would very likely be something going on beforehand. But just wanted to check to be sure after Teh Boyfriend expressed some concern about boredom due to us arriving in Austin so early.

Sometimes time zone differences can be a blessing (even if jet lag bites you in the bootie later! ).

I really dug the pubs on 6th Street the last time Teh Boyfriend and I were out in Austin. Anyone up for a pre-meet 'n greet bash Friday evening/night at one of the pubs on 6th Street? If so, could some of the locals provide a recommendation on a good place to meet up?

Teh Boyfriend and I have plenty of time to kill Friday afternoon through Sunday mid-afternoon and I'll be bringing my laptop with me (sadly, it won't run CO*, but at least I'll be able to keep tabs on the boards to see what plans are in the works for the weekend). So if anyone has anything going on and don't mind me and Teh Boyfriend tagging along, please do drop me a line!

EDIT: Gosh, I'm starting to sound like a dorky tag-a-long, aren't I? I can't help it...I'm just so excited to get the chance to meet everyone!

drinking on 6th street happens to be one of my areas of expertise.

Me recomendations would be:

For hangin out drinking- Dizzy rooster (kind of loud, but a damn good time, my favorite bar)

Blind Pig- sweet view of 6th from upstairs on the huge balcony, plenty of room for lots of people



I dont really do the dance clubs though, so maybe someone else can chime in there lol.

So it's to be a 6th Street run with the not-Austinites? I never go downtown much (outside of the former and future Drafthouse locations), but I agree with Fosse that dance clubs should probably stay off the list.

Katz's and Opal's are nice and visible, but not too close to the main part of 6th. We may be better off meeting away from 6th and carpooling down closer to 6th (which would make parking and meeting easier).

A late dinner would also be good to get our bellies full and ready for a liquor infusion. Threadgill's is pure Austin, has ample parking, is really close to downtown, and very visible. (Plus, their strawberry rhubarb pie is soooooo good.)

I can fit three others in my car (four if three are really tiny).

yeah id definetly try to have people meet off of 6th... maybe if someone coming from out of town has a hotel to meet at or something.

parking and all that nonsense on a friday night on 6th could be a pain for out of towners.

Meeting at a hotel isn't bad, either. Save the visitors from even having to worry about anything downtown.
