Hey All. I hope all is well.
Activity on the Duel Ladder has slowed down to a standstill, but I still monitor the site and will continue to update rankings when/if people fight in official matches.
Since my COX account is currently inactive, I cannot respond to the CoH Forums, but I still check those periodically as well.
Based on new members to the Duel Ladder site, there is still at least some interest in participating in ranked duels.
Please take note of the new ranking rule that I posted on 8/15 and let me know if you have any questions.
Since there have been ZERO ranked fights in the past 30 days, the winner of the next ladder match will vault to the #1 position!
Anyway, just wanted to send a message to folks to let you know that I have not abandoned the ladder, and will continue to update rankings should you choose to fight. Unfortunately, I can't do much advertising or run any tournaments for the time being.

i just saw this for the first time and would really be interested in this. Im on the DR 8v8 team but also dabble in some 1v1's in arena when the team isnt doing something. If all it takes is a challenge to get in lemmie know whos still in and id be glad to schedule something.

Well, it's been over a month since the last Duel Ladder match, so the #1 spot is up for grabs again. The first person to win a ranked match will take the #1 spot (Will anyone ever take the #1 spot away from Ownage, even temporarily???).
Unfortunately, the lack of activity has at least one person recommending that the thread be unstickied from the forums (which would basically kill the ladder for future use).
As long as the thread is there, anyone interested in ranked duels can easily view the rules, go to the sign-up page and view the current rankings. If the thread gets unstickied, then it will eventually disappear and the Duel Ladder will disappear with it.
As someone who always wanted a meaningful ranking system for dueling, I think the duel ladder is a nice addition, and I'd like to see it continue to be out there for future use in case other duelists like myself become interested in getting ranked.
Most of the focus recently has been on team PvP, but I know there's still folks out there who are interested in participating in the ladder, or would be if it were easy to find a match.
Anyway, if you're still interested in ranked duels and would like to keep the ladder alive, try to find an opponent to duel sometime in the next few days and/or show your support in the CoH Forums by recommending that the thread stay stickied so the ladder can easily be accessed and used in the future.
I hope you all are havin' fun in-game. I'm currently getting my pvp fix playin' online poker :P

Just as an outsider here...who has duelled, won some lost some. I don't really see the point of a duel ladder.
You're either going to win most of the matches because of insane debuffs or burst damage or you're going to end up with a draw. Not really any balanced play. 
There is just too much disparity in performance between various ATs and powersets and such.
So, while I am very interested in various forms of team play, I have no interest in duelling and neither would most of my friends who are also interested in team play (friends outside of my current pvp sg).

among the top duel builds, there is a skill curve that decides who wins as opposed to the build. for instance, on my ice/rad/psy there are some rad/psy's that i can beat, and some that stomp me into the ground, that is because i'm a newb on my ice/rad. and some people are newbs on their rad/psy's. same thing goes for my storm/sonic. i have mixed results fighting top duel builds on it and it all comes down to the experience of the person i'm fighting.
now, if i'm fighting an ice/nrg tank, my storm/sonic just isn't going to win. in those instances, my new goal becomes either draw or try to keep them to as few kills as possible.
Heh, surprisingly enough, I've seen some storms do better against ice/em tanks than other "better" squishy builds.
But yeah, dueling is a case of matchups. It's pretty easy for my ice/rad to run break frees and greens while keeping EF on an ice/em tank for 10 minutes... sadly enough, those are 10 minutes that I see as time wasted, just like most builds running up against a well-played ice/rad. ;[

I'm still level'ing my storm/dark (40 atm) but once he's ready I'd be willing to make some challenges (preferably not to ubar top tier peeps at first) if that would mean any chance of reviving this.
Woe is me. Disappointed to see this got unstickied.
I guess the space is better used for a post reminding people that the majority of league players are going to be 45+
I actually got challenged to a duel last night, and fought twice to a 0 - 0 tie. Fun matches though.
I was/am planning to host a tournament or two next week when I have some free time. Hopefully, a few folks will be able to make it. Dates and Times TBD.
I'll send a message to Ex, and hopefully the thread won't get "purged" as I'd like the ladder to remain accessible from the CoX boards for folks who are interested in ranked duels.
