CoX Invention Video Awsomeness

Observation:

Last week I made a post re: the fansite portal. Lighthouse responded that he, Arctic Sun, and Ex Libris have been "working on a number of web site initiatives".

Yesterday, Lighthouse made this post about the I9 Invention Video currently on MMORPG.com.

Frankly, I'm very impressed by this little tutorial video If we could see more of this sort of thing on the CoX web pages, I for one would be thrilled!

Is this part of what Lighthouse was alluding to? If so, bring it on

Well I don't know who did the voice, but it was close enough to sounding like it shoulda started with "Hi...I'm Troy McClure! You might remember me from other City of Heroes training videos such as 'Go. Hunt. KillSkulz!' and 'How did I get in this blue cavern when I went in an office building?'"

To elaborate, if you're using a non-Internet Explorer broswer or non-Windows computer, you need a WMP (Windows Media Player) add-on or plugin for your browser.

I'm not sure if Opera or Safari has one, but here's the Firefox WMP plugin:

WMP plugin for Firefox at port25.technet.com

Or, if you don't want the hassle, wait till L_H et al put it on the CoX home pages. They usually put both the WMP and QT (Apple QuickTime) version for whatever one has.

The video pronounces it right. I had to have Statesman (Jack) confirm it himself specifically for this vid.

Please note that Troy and Zapp are voiced by two different people. Zapp Brannigan was created to be voiced by the dearly departed Phil Hartman. Billy West, who also voices Phillip Fry, recreated Zapp's voice as a tribute to both Troy McClure and Mr. Hartman.

I recognize when the hero gathering at the very end of the video was taken - right towards the end of closed Beta. (My char can be seen in red-and-blue right on the left hand edge.)
