So, no one else pronounces it "Tally-ho!"?

IMHO that's what makes this game great. You can pronounce Talos any darn way you like, and it won't break the game!

Me personally, I go with the pig latin pronunciation Ay-los-Tay.

Look! See? CoX is still running strong!

We don' need no stinkin' signatures!

Well, Jack can say it any way he pleases I guess, and I'm rather surprised given his penchant for Greek Mythology, but Talos in Greek, according to my Greek friend, is pronounced TAHL-ohs. If it were pronounced TAY-los, he says it would be spelled Teilos.

Now I'm just passing on what I've been told. Don't no Greek scholars get all up in my junk if they disagree.

You know what gets me every time I see a video like this for CoH/V? This is a damn fine looking game.

It's easy to forget when you're in it, but watching demos always shocks me at the pure quality of eyecandy involved.

Be well, people of CoH.

Yeah, I was watching that and promising to myself that I would upgrade the graphics effects on my computer once CoX is installed.

Bah, I've always pronounced it similar to 'talon.'

Announcer lost credibility with me when he pronounced Cap Au Diable as 'Cappa' instead of a long 'O'. Although my French is rusty.

Here's one: Aeon City. Tawk amongst yourselves.

That beauty comes at such a cost, though. She is a harsh mistress, our Co*.

I was thinking the same thing... It never looks the same though when you are playing it and don't have those up close dramatic camera angles...

And I always pronounced it Tal Us... but that's just me...

IOW, slow at times but extremely informative

But just the kind of content we need on the main page. Interactive, informative stuff. More than just big 'ole blocks o text, in any case

I'd like to see something like this for bases. I've never tried to start my own base, and a little primer guide would be appreciated.

Hey, guys --

When I was in the Army, it was said that there are three ways to do things: the right way, the wrong way, and the Army way.

Bah. Lighthouse pokes his head in and I STILL get no closure on the proper pronunciation of "Talos."

[/ QUOTE ]

The video pronounces it right. I had to have Statesman (Jack) confirm it himself specifically for this vid.

[/ QUOTE ]

I feel obliged to say that if Jack says that the right way to pronounce Talos is "tay-lohs," then, no matter how many letters he has after his name, the simple fact is that that is incorrect. It IS "tah-lohs," as someone said.

NOW - that having been said, if Jack and Matt have decided that, on The Jack and Matt Show™, they have decreed that the locals pronounce it "tay-lohs," then that's perfectly peachy, as locals (including English-language dictionaries and their 'pronunciation guides') frequently have their own pronunciations of things that have nothing to do with the actual word.

...but it's not the correct pronunciation of the actual name Talos. Look it up in any Greek lexicon.

It doesn't matter how the greeks said it or would have said it. How many non-English words do we pronounce as if it were spoken by the mother tounge? Not many.

Well I don't know who did the voice, but it was close enough to sounding like it shoulda started with "Hi...I'm Troy McClure! You might remember me from other City of Heroes training videos such as 'Go. Hunt. KillSkulz!' and 'How did I get in this blue cavern when I went in an office building?'"
