Where are all the HeroClix players?
I have been playing Heroclix for the past 4 years; I have been a judge for the past 2 years. I am a big collector and have most of them. The only ones Im missing are the early special ones, that are hard to get and pricey. Heroclix is what got me into COV/COH, now I love them both. On the COH/COV Heroclix they are not that great of play wise pieces, the sculpts are good and the stats I think represent them well. In a tournament setting there are really only 2 pieces that are good ghost widow (has a high defense and can heal) and Captain Mako (cheap point wise figure that has some good stats) The other ones are ok but point wise there are better figures for the points. I wish they would do more cross promotion between the 2 but it looks like they wont.

Are you serious?

If so, sure! I'll take the whole freakin' lot! Also, what are these customizable clix of which you speak?

Well here's what they're in, every tray is full except two, one of which is maps:
Shelf Dealy
As for customs, here are the 3 I had done for me and friends:
Castelli - Spines/SR scrapper on Liberty
Rain Maker - Elec/Elec Blaster on Freedom
And my Invul/SS tanks costume at the time of the customizing
I took pics of whats inside the drawers, but there's tons of em, so if anyone is actually interested you can PM me. I don't have anything after Mutant Mayhem, and my DC collection is very small, but I do have almost all of the North American Indyclix, including unique Witchblade, Hellboy and Abbey Chase.

What paints are you using for your clicks?
Mind some advice?
Thin your paints. Depending on what paint you're using will depend on the thinning agent, but if you're using Testors, try and look for something made for minis, like Reaper Pro Paints or Master Series, or Vallejo. These will help a great deal, and are water-based (so you can thin with just water, although flow-aid and extender is always recommended). That's the biggest thing I see, otherwise, they look pretty good!

My brother gave me a bunch but I've never played. I would find it interesting to make some custom ones of my 3 main villains though, but alas I have not the time.
Did anyone else not get all the limited edition figures they were supposed to get with a DVD edition? I bought the CoV DVD edition from amazon last month but it didn't have Ghost Widow, my favorite villain. It was supposed to have all of them.

There was something you could do to get her as a few boxes were sold without her- by accident- look at the knowledge base and/or contact LightHouse, who might be able to help you.

Ooo thanks. I found the form but it says retail receipt. I bought it from Amazon.
.Since it cost me $20 and I got a free month, i basically paid $5. Good deal to me, but I want my GW still. I guess I will PM Lighthouse.
Kheprera ty for the knowledge. I have a problem with the paint drying on the sculpting clay does this mean the clay isn't "set" before I painted of am I using a bad match was using testors and it never seems to dry.
I play HeroClix extensively!
I'm particularly proud of my collection, but to keep me humble, I won't get into it. But I've funneled quite a bit of my money into the game.
I just have a Captain Mako, and never did buy the DVD edition extras (I wish I had, teaches me to skimp on the perks). But I've used him nicely with Aquaman on maps where I play Atlantis Rising, since swimming hardly ever gets used at my tournaments.
My favorite strategy I use every once in a while is the Kingdom Come Flash, with Nanobots and Armor Piercing. And maybe throw in a rookie Jean Grey to TK him around. He doesn't hit for much (his first click he only does a 2), but with armor piercing, you whittle down your enemy slowly but surely. If someone ever gets past his 20 defense, just have him hypersonic past some objects on his way to rest after another swipe and heal him up!
Ravenstorm has the right idea with Ghost Widow though, she's probably the most playable CoX HeroClix figure out there. But I do like the Arachnos team ability VERY much. It's exactly like the Mystic ability from DC HeroClix, and Mystic characters are ALWAYS great to have on a team, with Ares being the most powerful (with the obvious exception of one of the Spectre's clicks). But with the Arachnos team ability, the figures themselves are far more playable on average compared to the DC mystics. Ghost Widow vs. Zatanna? Don't make me laugh. Ghost Widow would devour her soul. Then feed her to the Fortunatas.
I've never really liked HeroClix, but I'm a huge fan of Heroscape. I've had my CoV DVD figures eagerly waiting for the release of Marvel Legends Heroscape so I can transfer them into that game. Heroscape is just awesome though, with so much variety and such straightforward mechanics. In a lot of ways it reminds me of what drew me into CoH. A huge variety of genres and game mechanics that were very easy to learn and teach my friends. It's definitely a game for people who haven't played tactical war miniture games, much like how CoH was a game for people who don't play MMOs.
Setting up the game board isn't too much of a hassle until you decide you want a massive 2-5 set board to play on. There's really nothing out there quite like a huge Heroscape map outside of handcrafted GW terrain though.
I use to play and collect HeroClix until the company was sold to Topps and the Tournaments rules changed so that some of the older miniatures were declared illegal. It was a move designed to encourage newer customers at the expense of the original customers, similar to the move that Wizards of the Coast made to create Type 1 and Type 2 card game tournaments. The company said that for some tournaments older sets of the cards could not be used for certain tournaments.
With the implementation of that rule, newer player would not play my card decks unless those were Type 2 compliant, even for game not in a tournament. It was a move to force the original customers to buy more cards and make older cards worthless. Those companies could have reprinted powerful cards or powerful miniatures, but they created that new rule to force people to buy more. What garbage!
Well, I play video games more now.
I never even HEARD of HeroClix before I got HeroScape. I thought that it would be something that my 9 year old and I would enjoy. Problem is we have a rather small house (in the process of buying a new home now) and have to setup on the kitchen table, and also my son lives with my ex-wife through the week and I get to see him from like noon on saturdays until 4 or so on sunday afternoons and we try to cram a lot of stuff into those 26 hours. Spending and hour to setup the game and then play takes a lot of time. In the new house I'm going to probably have a more or less permanent "game room" where I can set that up, along with our HO slot car set, and we'll probably play a lot more often.
Anyway, we don't really play the complicated version, we basically just use the movement and standard attacks to start with, I didn't want to scare him off or make it too complex at first. I'd like to get more figures that he's familiar with (CoX, Marvel, DC, etc) because I think that he'd find THEIR special attacks a lot easier to relate to...
BTW, when IS the Marvel edition of Heroscape coming out?

Sorry but you are wrong,
Some Heroclix sets are retired each year, these sets are only retired for official tournaments like at Wizard world. This is done to keep an even playing field with the most curent figures and rules. Its up to a local venue to have whatever rules they want. Most venues have no ristrictions and you can play whatever you want old or new, the only exception would be for certain events that happen every now and then.

i have played it before,i mainly just collect the LEs.a guy at work judges the events each week at one of our local stores and the store gets 4-5 models each week.if he has an extra he will usually just give me one or will sell it to me.i have around 240 or so LEs so far.i'm missing mainly the early stuff like hypertime, critical mass.the main figure i have been looking for is the victor creed(sabertooth).
Okay, first, don't use Testors. Testors is for Model Cars and planes, is very thick (even if cheap), and requires solvent to thin it. This is not good for plastic minis, especially if you end up wanting to strip the paint off. You can't use normal stripper with the plastic or they will "melt."
The paint to use is something made for painting miniatures. Reaper Pro Paints or their Master Paint line (highly recommended, but I'm an admitted Reaperfangirl), Vallejo Model or Game color, or even GW paints. These are made to specifically have the right "tooth" to the paint to adhere to the metal, plastic, and resin that miniatures are made of, which differs from that of model cars and planes.
Also, the sculpting putty you are using, most likely Sculpey or Super Sculpey or Primo, isn't really made to be used for miniatures. It doesn't hold the detail as well, and you have to bake it. This is bad for conversions because you can't bake the plastic Clix. They will melt. So will metal minis (and don't boil them, I've seen what happens, and it isn't pretty and will ruin your pot). Greenstuff, or even Brownstuff, is modeling putty made specifically for miniatures. All those Clix and other minis you see were mostly likely originally modeled in Greenstuff by the original sculptor. It should be easily found at most hobby/game stores where you can find miniatures and the associated paints.

Those three sites should get you a good start. There's more than just painting on those sites, from sculpting, to techniques, to tools, and things you can make with Sculpey, like bases and terrain pieces.

I used to play and judge HeroClix quite often. I traveled to various conventions as an envoy assisting WizKids, but somehow managed to be on break when Cryptic passed out the free copies of CoH, or I would have entered Paragon City muich earlier. Unfortunately, WizKids has totaly died around here. I actuallly sold off my entire collection while on layoff.
My favorit team was always Teen Titans, but, once most of the original New Mutants released, I would pay them as well. I never really cared for how WizKids stated out the CoX characters.
I got the one fig in the COV box and didnt realize it was a game. Then spent in a weekend in a local flea market trying to sell some stuff and one guy does a comic store there on the weekends (has a real job through the week). He sells the clixs and has guys hanging out and playing pickup games. No official tournys there, just casual fun. I learned watching them that day and thought. HEY I got one whole figure already and ran home and found my ghost widow. The next day at the flea market I traded GW for a whole boxfull of extras, some of which were pretty good figures. I also traded a couple of the t-shirts I was selling for a couple boosters to the comic guy and next thing you know I had a small collection. I started going to local venues and playing. There is NO shortage of tournys in my area, even though I live in a cornfield. Granted the nearest is 18 miles away, but I got 10 different shops that run tournys within 40 miles.
My greatest feat was taking out Kingom Come Green Lantern in a 300 pt game. 7 points of damge came from Vet. Scourge! (with a little perplex help from DEO Agents). He was gunning for my E Icon Batman and Scourge pegged him. It was great.
HeroClix is the reason I got into CoX.

Wow. I'm in Tampa and there's a couple of commercials on local TV, one is for a shop that runs tournaments and stuff for Warhammer and Heroclix.
That commercial was the first time I'd heard of Heroclix outside of this game.
Just... whoa. Wow.

I've been a HeroClix fan almost from launch, so when I heard about the Statesman figure I had to get one for my collection. That got me talking to friends of mine who were already into the game, and they convinced me how much fun it was. New Years Eve 2004 I bought the game for myself, and been here ever since!

That is ten shades of cool. It's a little late but, uhm... Welcome to the City!
So have the devs said anything official about not making any more clix or is this just what we assume? Cause I like playing heroclix but have no interest in all those other indy characters... so if there are no more city of heroclix made then i'll be stuck with an 8 heroclix collection.
I mean it would be so easy to just sort them out into like freedom phalanx, vanguard, arachnos faction, etc. Then give them stats. They could even take stuff straight from their badges... freedom phalanx clixs could heal 1 damage on themselves once per game (10% increased life badge) etc.

Anyone play HeroClix? Have you used the CoX characters while playing? Have you made custom figures based on your City of Heroes characters?
I've done all of that.
Currently I'm working on creating the remaining members like Sister Psyche, Back Alley Brawler and Synapse. I need help determining what their stats would be. Any suggestions?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes to all of that.... ironically, if I didn't spend my evenings on CoH, I'd have more time to mod my Heroclix doubles!!!
The figs I get the most use out of from the CoX figs are Ghost Widow, Mako (Sharkbait - ooha ha) , and Manticore, in that order.
