Inspiration Request: Who's your Magic character?
My character Larissa has screenies in my sig. Bio
She's a magic origin Ice/Ice Blaster. Hope it helps.
Br0k3n was summoned from another dimension to animate an organic computer designed by genious technomancer, Dr. Valentine Montgomery. She was intended as a bodyguard and plaything of the rich and famous.
Another of Montgomery's creations attacked and killed him before br0k3n's spirit was melded with her new body, leaving her shattered, weakened. She had never been given a name by her creator, and took as hers the first thing that was said to her..."You sure are broken, aren't you?"
She was turned over to the anthromorph-heavy Kit Kat Klub in King's Row, where she met Juke Joint Jezebel, one of Montgomery's early works. J took br0k3n under her wing, so to speak, and the pair prowl Paragon City fighting villains...when they're not busy dancing the night away on stage.
Pictures are available on both DevArt and Toxiclight.com.

My Villain, Black Magistar has a Hero counterpart named Magistar They history is quite intertwined. They are both Magical origin and are modeled as a tribute to the old Dr Strange/Baron Mordo fights I loved reading when I was younger.
I have 2 magical characters I designed recently as my Comic Universe's "Ultimate" world. I call them "Remix" rather then Ultimate.
Anyway my first one is a MAJOR Remix of Mr. Awesome where it's a new guy, new origin, and new powers. The only thing they have in common is the VERY beginning stages of their origins. I won't go into to much detail as I have yet to finish writing it all up myself but basicly this new man is called Indestructible and gets his powers from 8 rubies that fell from space. He wears all 8 rubies on his armor and each one gives him a special power. The largest ruby he wears on his belt and it grants him total invincibility (including anything touching his skin ex. his tights and armor). The 2 second largest rubies he wears on his greaves (armored boots) and they grant him super speed and the ability to fly. The next set of rubies he wears on his gauntlets (armored gloves) and they give him super human strength and the ability to create balls of red energy around his fists that can stun people and shatter any material. His last 3 rubies are on his half-helm where they give him the ability to shoot a beam of red energy from his eyes (ala cyclops), minor precognition (think spider sense but not as cheesy), and the ability to only hear the truth (if people lie to him he actually hears them tell the truth and the lie).
Now I can't really design him in City of Heroes as his design is VERY specific but I was extremely lucky enough to get a fantastic ink done of him by Silver Spectre.
Here is an example of Indestructible
As you can see all of the armor he wears has Celtic rope patterns on it as he himself is Irish and the armor he wears is actually a family heirloom.
A better example of his Celtic armor can be found here
And if you want a sample of his color scheme I made him as best I could in CoH here
Anyway I hope he is interesting enough for you. If not my other "Remix" magic themed hero is an Ojibwe Native American that can see people's dreams when he touches them and has visions of the future when he is asleep. If you haven't guess it yet, his name is "Dreamcatcher" and he can also teleport in a flash of light or project terrifying images using special devices he invented himself (so he is a mix of Magic & Technology, like many of my characters I use multiple origins).
Anyway, his costume is just as complicated as Indestructible's so if you want to hear I would be glad to post it.

Meanwhile...On The Internet...
Here is Blind Lady Justice . She wields a mystic sword that allows her to 'see' the truth in all things and dispense justice where it is needed. I haven't completely written out her bio yet. I have 2 different versions of how she loses her sight, but in both she is given the sword by an anonymous 'Goddess of Justice' to be her avatar upon this plane.
Charact*er?* Singular?
I think most of these have links in my sig as it is... Hmm.
- Therra Arcson, my first 50, elec/elec blaster, is what I call "vaguely magical." She had an interest in mythology and occult phenomena (as well as, thanks to her father, an interest in electronics, which in a roundabout way led her to the magical interest.) When she was attacked, hauled into an alley to be mugged, the energy from her panic as well as her prior occult interest essentially formed a conduit that allowed her goddess to quickly teach her, show her how to defend herself with energies that, for her, manifested as electrical.
That same goddess helped keep her mind intact and teach her how she could accept another when she was finally captured by the Council. It prepared her to accept a Kheldian and continue a fight when she was thought dead by her friends, emerging as Therra Paladina - new last name indicating a new purpose.
Therra Malevola was crafted by the Circle of Thorns (one of Therra Arcson's favourite foes) to try to discredit her. She was made to be a copy that would serve the Circle - but, at great risk, Therra Arcson's goddess blocked the duplicate from getting her powers, so the Circle infused her with Infernal powers of darkness and fire. She broke free of their control, rebelled, and now takes great joy in hunting them down.
Piracat was a shipboard "mascot" on a pirate ship, who would actually attack boarding parties with the rest of the crew. On one of the crew's hauls, they found an ancient, enchanted sword. The captain had a "bad feeling" about it, so they locked it in the hold. Before they could get rid of it, the cat - curious as to what was in the case, which had fallen and broken open in a bad storm - stuck a paw in and was transformed by the sword, which had searched for a weilder for centuries.
Clair de Lune's family was one with an ancient tie to the lunar goddess, serving as her hand on Earth. Her mother had rejected the call and refused to tell Clair about it, as well as cutting off contact with Clair's grandmother. Clair went to visit her (she'd loved visiting as a child) when she turned 18 and her grandmother gave her an ancient book. She opened it one night and found new words, in silver, written there. Reading them aloud connected her with the lunar goddess and she learned of her purpose and powers.
Crimson Seas (to visit the red side again) was a vicious pirate. At one point, he took over an island, terrorizing the natives with his crew. Before the shaman was killed, he cursed the pirate to never find rest... now Crimson Seas, cursed and dead, walks the world.

Everything you need to see and know about Sarix Morrison (AKA Sarix the Devourer/Rebecca Morrison). The only magic origined person in the villain group, Torment (Turbo-Ski, and Project Reaver are the other members)
Sightless Shadow, my magic Claw/Dark Armor scrapper can be found here. The bio and two screen shots can be found in that profile.
Netherworld Angel
Skydance
Warsun
If interested, I can get you more detailed story backgrounds, alternate costumes, with powers on, action shots etc.
(Skydance and Warsun's background story turned out a bit too similar in the end, but since they'll never actually met each other (same account), I went with it anyway, might retcon a bit later)
Edit: Might as well add:
Dead Cheerleader
Psidream
The only magic based characters I've got that have at least a consistent backstory are my hero Undead Champion and this villain, Ancient Briton.
I think AB is probably my fav out of the two currently.
AB Front
AB Back
I realised I don't actually have any clear shots of UC other than this one, so I'll have to "borrow" the images from the SG thread

I tend not to do really magic based things (though I have a harry potterverse SG of all my own stuff lol). But my huge exception is Winter's True Spirit.

The Godbreaker!
All of my refs are located in my signature. Now, on to the meat of this thread...
Kadmon (BS/Regen/Dark Mastery, Fly/Concealment/Presence/Fitness) is somewhere in the area of 14000 years old, a humanoid Golem created in the halls of Mu. Unlike later models of himself, this prototype was designed to learn through experience, and using the data garnered from this, the magic scientists of Mu created new golems to fight on the front lines. Kadmon, the original, however, had learned mercy, and refused to kill those who could no longer fight back. Because of this, he was imprisoned in orichalcum until the year 1130, when he was released without knowledge of who or what he was. Taken in by a church local to the western European country he'd awoken in, he became a paladin, hunting down, banishing, and destroying demons where he found them. It was on one of these hunts that he acquired his signature weapon, the sword of storms, Sturm.
Unfortunately, both for him, and for a certain rather incompetent group of Circle of Thorns wizards, he was accidentally caught in a demon summoning ritual. In 1136, having just banished the demon the Circle was attempting to summon, Kadmon found himself pulled forward in time almost a millennium. Now somewhat miffed and lost in Oranbega in the year 2004, he wandered for a few days, destroying Circle wizards utterly as he came across them. It wasn't until the second day of doing this that he realized he'd have been better off forcing one of them to show him the way out. Luck was on his side, though, as the third day he came across a magical lab that contained runes that had been designed for the Mu so many years earlier. Taking these prizes for his own (including a certain Rune of Recovery which fuels the lion's share of his regeneration), he used one to form himself a portal to the surface.
He has become accustomed to his new surroundings, using the same mental design that made him adaptable before, but he still doesn't QUITE understand some of the things humans do, not the least of which are yawning, whistling, and bouncing around when excited. Slowly but surely, his memory of his past life is returning to him. He can't sing, but he can cook well, predict the stock markets with alarming accuracy, and play one mean bass guitar (most commonly, on the Rickenbacker 4001).
Masked Shrike (Sonic Resonance/Dark Blast/Darkness Mastery, Fly/Fitness/Medicine) is about 24 years old, a former singer/songwriter and a descendent of Mu by the name of Serafina Dalton. Prior to meeting Kadmon, she was world-famous, often touring around the United States and other countries. After a Circle of Thorns kidnapping attempt that was thwarted by Kadmon, she took him on as a temporary bodyguard for her tours that took her into Paragon City. She went on a tour of Europe for a year after leaving Paragon City, only to return the next year. After another kidnapping attempt, again thwarted by Kadmon, but this time by Kadmon's Praetorian Earth counterpart Prima Ombra, she took up residence with the golem for a couple weeks while also practicing some of her own spells and getting some martial arts training under the former 5th Column oberst (and current zombie) Max Kampfer.
Ombra's second attempt to kidnap her was decidedly more successful, but threw Kadmon into a such a rage that he went to Praetorian Earth on his own to storm his double's fortress (the fact that a veritable army of other metahumans came in shortly afterwards to join him is hardly relevant ). While there, he transfered a measure of his power to Serafina, unlocking the full potential of her Sonic magic and granting her shadow powers and super-human strength as well. She used these to help break herself out of the position of sacrificial-victim-to-be and hold off Prima Ombra until backup could arrive.
After escaping Praetorian Earth, she took up permanent residence in Kadmon's apartment and became the heroine Masked Shrike. She can't cook very well, but she does sing remarkably well, and can punch a hole in someone's eardrums with a whistle if she feels so inclined. She's generally kind-hearted, but has a bit of a temper. She tends to become somewhat bouncy when excited.
I'd never use a nuke in a superhero universe. You nuke a city, you kill 1.5 million people minus one. The last guy not only gets superpowers from the explosion, but ones that let him survive a nuke...and wow, is he torqued off

LOL! Thanks! Along with Muay Thai, I am also learning Kendo, so the Katana Scrapper thing hits home.
I really love his look and concept. I RP him when I play. I just made him last night. He is most enjoyable!

Heh, thanks I don't know why, I just love that bass. I can't play one myself, but that's the bass guitar I think of when someone mentions "bass guitar"

Disclaimer: I can't guarantee a sketch since I don't have a scanner. I'm merely looking for inspiration.
For those who are nice enough to participate (and won't mind me using their characters for art projects), I'd like to request screenshots and if possible, bios of your Magical character. I'm deeply inspired by both Marvel and DC's magical or supernatural (related) characters, ranging from Marvel's Dr. Strange to DC's The Endless. And right now I just have this crazy idea of concocting a group or legion of magical superheroes and/or supervillains - both would be nice though.
I'll probably post if I ever get to do something big like a painting (I don't really do much digital art for personal stuff) but as for now, I'm just looking for inspiration. So if you have the free time and think you have a good, solid character of magical (or supernatural, occult, etc.) origin, I'd really like to hear from (any of) you. Besides, it would be a good reference for other artists looking for inspiration, hehe.
