never happened for me, during a solo on BaB as an AV, not once did the DoT from impale or ripper cause him to aggro on me after a placate, he just stood there dumbfounded before being Assassins banana'd again

it always broke it as well as reset the "return to hide" counter to full, until the DoTs ended. If you were the only stalker in existence it didn't happen to (lol) then bully for you. Everyone else knew this one.

As a spines/nin player from I6-I8, I call shenanigans. DoTs *always* broke placate, pve and pvp.

Anyone find it grossly ironic, that TP Foe + Hide was broken with i12, and instead of fixing it, we get a stupid band aid fix that doesn't allow you to land any criticals after TPing someone.

Just to reiterate for ya here...

As an old-has-been, hard core Stalker player, I can assure you, Spines always broke placate after a DoT in PvE. It always has and to this day still does. Even does it with my Night Widow (The AT I traded in for Stalkers) and more often, due to the fact that the DoTs from a Night Widow are more active and twice as many as a Spines Stalker.

In PvP this started as soon as Placate no longer put you back into full hide. It was still happening before that, but nobody noticed it because even if the placate failed, you were still back into full hide and could not be found anyway to target in the first place. Therefore nobody noticed it back then. It only became apparent when placate only put you into a pseudo hide. Your target ticking with DoTs now had a visual to re-target.

I can assure you this has been around since day 1.

Why not? As much as everyone will sooner or later become affected by the bug, it's still a bug, which deserves fixing nonetheless.

They made the PvP Changes, even though everyone was against them. The same is not said for Placate, or for so I recall.

I can state with certainty that it affects PvE on my Elec/Nin.

Placate boss who is getting up from being knocked down from Thunder Strike (no attack started because it's impossible).
Boss gets purple glowy-head animation.
Boss takes a few steps away.
Boss turns around and thwaps me while AS is still interruptible.
Stalker curses loudly, queues Havoc Punch, mutters about how this still is broken.

The good news is that the LR+TS took out pretty much everyone else, though...

And I can state with certainty that this was nailed down around I... I.. wait, when did Elec Stalkers hit? I11? Feh. Anyway, Castle just forgot to make recovery debuffs an exception to breaking Placate.

It was also PvE before elec came to stalkers, but was so rare and hard to replicate that pinning down what was causing it seemed impossible.

The DoT part is a pain, since each tick counts as a separate attack with its own chance to happen. If they made it a constant number of ticks, it might work in getting around that.

Yeah, I remember announcing that, but I tried to separate the PvP and the PvE placate bugs as much as possible. They weren't even remotely the same, except that they both caused aggro where aggro shouldn't be.

True, I said before that there's a good chance it's a different bug with the same results. Either way, it's those same results that I'd like to see gone.

It probably won't happen though.

That group has to BE a mass before they can MASS exodus. The established PVP base (if you can call it that) took many issues to build up to it's anemic state (and even then, most of the activity was on the non-live server).
Given that a new PVP base will also take time to build up (i.e: many issues just like PVP 1.0) I think Castle does have time to fix placate. And, he should probably do so before it becomes an issue as PVP picks up... if he waits, he will be playing catch up.
The best way to surpass the pre-i13 PVP clique's numbers is to get rid of the roadblocks in the way. So, if he wants the grand experiment to succeed, he will fix placate (finally).
