Placate is bugged

Well, they also have the HP advantage in PvP, which helps a lot with sets like Regen, but even that doesn't help much unless you have the range of sets like spines. Melee without the means of getting close enough to use it doesn't mean much in PvP.

Ok, if a controller has hot feet down, you obviously can't AS.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes you can >_>

[/ QUOTE ]

Not if you're WP, Regen, or Elec armor.

If you're nin or SR, yeah you can AS.

First of all, who plays Electric Armor? I've yet to see one since they came along.

Second, all Stalker Secondaries have Hide, which gives very good defense to AOEs. Even without that, you can AS a controller with Hot Feet by Flying over them or hitting a purple or something.

I saw one once, mostly face down though. All of the set's best assets don't lend themselves well to PvP (except for energy resists)

WOW! I know it is bugged and not fixed, but I just logged in to my Spines/Regen Stalker. WOW!! talk about impossible. All my attacks give toxic dot, and then if I try to placate they laugh and hit me immediately in PVE and PVP since I have 0 defense.

My solution is to /petition /bug it daily until it gets fixed. I encourage everyone to do the same until they fix it, this has been a problem for way too long for them to keep ignoring it.

Yeah, you do realize daily /bugs and /petitions won't help much, right?

Who knows, it probally wont help. But look at blasters, they have been crying about defiance since it came out. Now its one of the best inherant powers...allowing them to attack when held, slept, stunned, etc........

I do.

It's actually not all that bad with ma/. Very survivable, although you can't really get in a good placate/as while getting pounded on.

It seems a lot more survivable at low levels than the defense sets, though. I think people should give it a shot, and just remember it's a lot more scrappery of a style after the initial AS burst.

It's kind of odd... you count on the crit chances instead of on guaranteed crits, but when it comes right down to it, I am critting ALL the time regardless of the guaranteed crits being lacking. and against single targets like bosses and eb's, electric is in, actually, a BETTER position than most defense-based stalkers... Ballistas punch through defense like it's not even there, and electric armor almost totally nullifies them.

a weird thing about resistance-based stalkers too, getting caught by a wailer seems to have little to no effect on electric armor... I think because resistance debuffs resistance debuffs, and also because they are so overwhelmingly s/en damage, which is easy to slot for and which electric defends against highly effectively.

I have a habit of taking the underdog sets to the extremes they are capable of, and I will freely admit my initial impression of electric armor was wrong... it's not nearly as gimped as I had expected.

Not when knocked down. As powerful as it may be, they still can not attack if they get knocked down. An exploit I am surprised you PvP geniuses have still yet to figure out.

...and I do not even PvP anymore, heh.

I can also confirm placate as being broken.

I play a Elec/Nin stalker. Just picked up placate. It is a useful power, when it works that is. With the newer assassination, the "demoralizing effect" causes a ToHit debuff, and has a slight chance to cause fear after a successful Assassins strike. I generally find that whenever the "Demoralizing effect" takes place, placate almost never works. And since I open up every battle with AS, it makes it quite frustrating seeing your placate break. I used placate on a council soldier right after I AS'ed his friend, and he still proceeded to punch at me.

So, yeah. Placate is busted.

With suppression on KB it's not as effective as you'd think. Also there isn't a lot of KB in stalker sets...good thing we have 'geniuses' like you to help us. Whatever would we do without you...

Besides how is using KB an exploit...just curious how using powers = exploit.

Apparently more than you would do on your own, Genius. Let's see here....how many KB/KD/KU powers can I name before you can get to the center of your tootsie roll pop?

1: Focus
2: Shockwave
3: Vengeful Slice
4: Thunder Strike
5: Lightning Rod
6: Crane Kick
7: Soaring Dragon
8: Golden Dragonfly
9: Ripper
10: (pool powers which everyone can get) Air Superiority/Jump Kick
11: (Procs) Countless...

The term "exploitation" may carry two distinct meanings:

1: The act of utilizing something for any purpose. In this case, exploit is a synonym for use.
2: The act of utilizing something in an unjust or cruel manner.

Thanks for the comment!

Placate is bugged by the following powers:

Any power which has a secondary effect lasting longer than .01 seconds

Conveniently, this includes almost EVERY SINGLE POWER stalkers get, In pvp and pve, placate is now broken to the point of almost uselessness, since it will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in a fight

for instance, fighting a random +3 tank swiper on my elec regen:

i ran in, BU+AS, 1/3 of his health drops, i follow with havoc, CI, and then LR, i placate him (AS was back up), and as i begin AS, he's stood back up and proceeds to claw-smack me for almost 600 damage, no secondary on him anymore (CI was off by then) but the debuff from AS Still was (Just barely)

Thus, breaking placate, Havoc punching a lone longbow nullifier and then placating him during the sleep and not doing anything, he'll continue attacking me after the sleep ends

i can come up with upwards of 800 or more times this has happened since i12 on any one of 20 or so stalkers i have from 12-on on many servers

Devious, you should read the boards more. We nailed down the PvE Placate bug months ago. It's not Stalkers, it's Elec's -recovery. The AI isn't set to ignore it like other debuffs.

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

I think they should Remove Placate from the game, and then Re-Make it into a new version... y'now, being they obviously can't figure this one out

A_C: it's also being bugged by my KD/KB/-def on my kat/reg, my EM/SR's stuns, my Spines/Nin DoT/immob, and every other stalker i have whose melee set has some form of secondary effect

Conviently, this also happens if i say, soul storm a mob and then placate it, when the hold ends, they go back to swinging at me like i never placated them, even if the placate hit AFTER the DoT finished

I ain't rolling a Banana stalker to confirm this, but it's likely unconfirmable too.

Maybe the mobs are just so afraid of my awesome secondary that they won't dare attack again?

DoT does currently nullify placate. Mostly because (if I'm not mistaken) it counts as a separate attack on the aggro scale. So far, I don't believe the slows or immobs do though, as I've only encountered it with DoT's ticking.

DoTs are a given though. If Devious didn't know that... well, small wonder he thinks Ninjitsu sucks.

DoT Never broke placate prior to i11/i12

Confirmed on my spines nin prior, BU+Ripper, placate, they'd stand up and ignore me while dot'd

Posted

I'll confirm the Stun breaking it in PvP from EM. I fought one on my Fort and he would hit me with TF, then Placate and I would lose target but be able to instantly retarget them. However, if he did it when I didn't have a stun on my buff bar, he would be untargetable.

Posted

it also does it in PvE

i Total focused a boss from hide (Didnt stun him) and placated him after his attack, he continued lobbing attacks even though he had no DoT on my et al (+2 longbow SS/Invul warden, boss)

Oh, it most definitely did. I've teamed with and played quite a few spine stalkers since before they raised the level cap and the DoT always caused aggro after placating. It even went so far as to start the small rumor that DoT's removed the Hidden state from you if you placated while they were still going. (Now THOSE threads were fun during the i7 "EVERYTHING BROKE!" days)
