The Pocket Guide to Binds for the Peacebringer
Yeah, I have that problem too. I have 3 macro buttons setup for changing into each of my 3 forms. I use them as "just in case" buttons. Once I accidentally loaded my binds from another character, but didn't notice until I was in combat and couldn't switch forms. EEEEK! So now I have those buttons to change in the event I somehow mess my binds up. On a whim I recently clicked one and nothing happened. Opened it up to edit and the whole bind was gone. Pretty sure its a bug so I have /bugged it a few times.
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, logged in my character and tried to copy the bind into the chat window. I got the same error msg after that.
[/ QUOTE ]
The forum software replaces opening quotes with some sort of ascii equivalent I think. If you right click on your macro and go to edit, you'll see the problem. You can just remove it from there. Alternatively, just copy/paste, remove the first quote, put it back in. Works great.

/bind TAB "target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next void$$target_custom_next quant$$target_custom_next cyst"
Tab will con through enemies as normal until a Void, Quantum, or Cyst is in sight then it will default to targeting only that mob. Great for finding Quantums hiding in the back of a big crowd or for targeting Cysts surrounded by tons of Unbound Nictus. Some suggest adding in target_cusom_next sapper I have that bound to another key and only use when Im on Malta missions.

This is an excellent bind, but I would point out that it will remain locked onto a dead Void or Quant if there's one in line-of-sight. If you use your tab key for quick target-switching in combat, this can be a problem. If you add the "alive" parameter to each entry, it will allow you to tab away from your freshly-defeated nuisance.
My version looks like this:
/bind TAB "target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next quant alive$$target_custom_next void alive$$target_custom_next cyst"
I didn't bother with an "alive" for the cyst entry because they don't leave corpses to monopolize your bind. I also swap the order of the Quant and Void, for those thankfully rare cases (usually on outdoor maps) when one of each is in line-of-sight. I consider the Voids the greater threat, so I target them preferentially.

Here is what I have posted in another thread in response to the "sticking" problem.
[ QUOTE ]
Here's one to try. I have the above bind bound to my tab button. Then when I encounter a Q/V/or Cyst I use this bind:
/bind shift+mbutton "target_enemy_next"
This allows me to continue conning the group. Takes a little getting used to for combat purposes. I also have the mbutton bound for "target_enemy_near" so oftentimes that helps in combat to get the target off a dead Q or V.

I did copy/paste the binds for my PB. the only thing I had to change in the bind was the quote marks. just deleted them and put them back in, then the bind worked just fine. probably had something to do with the fact that they were bold faced when they were copied.
redoing the quote marks is a lot easier than retyping the enitre thing. IMO.

GREAT INFO ALL!!!
TYVM!
Yes, thanks! I'm getting really tired of manually switching my power trays when I switch forms... I expect this to be a TREMENDOUS help!
Ah, very nice guide, thanks!

/bind TAB "target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next void$$target_custom_next quant$$target_custom_next cyst"
[/ QUOTE ]
Another problem that you get with this bind is when you have a teammate with the string you are searching for in their name.
Rewriting the bind slightly will fix the problem.
/bind TAB "target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next enmey void$$target_custom_next enemy quant$$target_custom_next enemy cyst"
I am not sure if this also avoids targetting corpses that match the string as well. I've never noticed that it has but then again I have never really tested it as I use one bind for trouble NPC targeting and one for tabbing through everything else.
I just tried it out and
[ QUOTE ]
/bind TAB "target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next enmey void$$target_custom_next enemy quant$$target_custom_next enemy cyst"
[/ QUOTE ]
will target corpses as well.
The bind that skips anything that is not alive and anything that is not an enemy is this:
/bind TAB "target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next enemy alive void$$target_custom_next enemy alive quant$$target_custom_next enemy alive cyst"
Instead of setting for alive, could you also set the bind for dead? I'm thinkin for a warshade, possibly:
target_enemy_near dead
Thanks for all the great info!
Hey I've got a problem with this... I made nifty little human/squiddy/dwarf macros and lined 'em up on my powertray. They work fine... but every other time I use them it erases everything it says, except for the "go to power tray" part. I enter the huge code, and all that's left is "goto_tray 1" or something along those lines. Am I doing something wrong?
Note: I took the ""s off of the code as it ceased to work with them.

I tried converting some of the binds into Macros and ran into a weird problem, they would work after creation, but would drop whenever I zoned. The button would still be there with a scrap of code but the rest of the bind would disappear.

Thank you, I've had this problem too (I tacked on a powexec_name Combat Flight to my nova -> human macro and it kept dropping) and will try your solution.
Does Bright Nova form automatically come to you when you make a peacebringer?

Here's a very simple bind I use to get around:
Bind g "++autorun$$ powexec_name Energy Flight"
Press g and you will start flying and moving forward, just as if you activated Energy Flight and pressed r. Use the spacebar to go up to your desired height and x to move down. Steer as normal. Press g again when you get to your destination and you will stop moving forward and turn off EF.
Ideally, the tank will die precisely as everyone else starts fighting, allowing aggro to be spread evenly among the blaster. -seebs, "How to Suck at CoH/CoV" Guide
Am I wrong to think that an easier way to use PBs are this:
You use a bind to the key of your choice, turning off all forms, so you go to your human form, and in the same bind your power trays go to 1, 2, and 3 from bottom to top.
Then another bind, it would activate your jelly form, also changing your power trays to be 4, 5, and 6 from bottom to top.
Then, another bind setting you to the tank form, power trays changing to 7, 8, and 9.
S_i_l_e_n_t_X , I have the following two bind files for my biform PB.
The first file is called PB.txt and it resides in my keybinds folder within the CoH root directory:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>R "powexectoggleon Bright Nova$$gototray 9$$bind_load_file .\keybinds\BNova.txt"</pre><hr />
Within the game, while in human mode, I enter the following command:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>/bindloadfile .\keybinds\PB.txt"</pre><hr />
From now on, whenever I hit the 'R' key in human form, I will toggle on Nova and my bottom tray will change to tray 9, which contains my Nova blasts.
Now, how could I switch back to human form? Easy: by creating another bind file.
This second file is called BNova.txt and it also resides in my keybinds folder within the CoH root directory:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>R "powexectoggleoff Bright Nova$$gototray 1$$bind_load_file .\keybinds\PB.txt"</pre><hr />
Now, whenever I am in Nova form, hitting the same transformation key ('R' in this example) switches off Nova form and loads tray 1, the tray which contains my human powers.
In short, hitting 'R' toggles me between human and Nova and simultaneously loads the appropriate power tray.
While in Nova form, you are unable to activate any of the powers available to the human form. However, some of these powers, like Essence Boost, can contribute greatly to a Nova's survival.
While in Nova, it normally takes 2 clicks to activate Essence Boost. With the following bind, a single keystroke toggles off Nova, fires off Essence Boost, and returns you to the human form tray configuration.
If you are already in human form, all it effectively does is activate Essence Boost.
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
/bind SHIFT+1 "powexectoggleoff Bright Nova$$powexecname Essence Boost$$gototray 1$$bind_load_file .\keybinds\PB.txt"
</pre><hr />
If you don't like using Shift+1 for this purpose, just replace it with any other key.
This same principle can also be applied to Reform Essence, Solar Flare, Aid Self, or any other human-only click power.

The thing is, your Nova and Dwarf forms don't HAVE that many powers, so you really only need to rotate your 'attack' tray. I think for most of us that's tray 1.

The basic philosophy is to organize binds to the numpad grid. 1, 4, and 7 are humanform binds, 2 toggles Nova, and 3 toggles Dwarf. Surrounding keys are 'support'. The Subtract (keypad -) is used on both PB and WS to 'call out' when your TAB locks onto a high-priority enemy (although TAB will stay locked onto a defeated Quant or Void, I can tweak that with the 'alive' modifier I suppose.)
I know I could do a lot more, but... *shrug*
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
There are a ton of players out there who, for whatever reason, include "Void" or "Quantum" in their character name. As a result, the old bind will target *them* instead of enemies, if they're closest. So this is what I use instead.
/bind TAB "target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next enemy alive void$$target_custom_next enemy alive quant$$target_custom_next enemy alive cyst"
/bind CTRL+TAB "target_enemy_near$$target_custom_near enemy alive void$$target_custom_near enemy alive quant$$target_custom_near enemy alive cyst"
/bind SHIFT+TAB "target_enemy_prev$$target_custom_prev enemy alive void$$target_custom_prev enemy alive quant$$target_custom_prev enemy alive cyst"
I'm having trouble with these form-shifting binds... I wrote them as macros instead, because I often can't remember which key I bind things to, and for reasons unknown they only seem to work when I'm not in combat. I use the Nova macro to shift my form and my tray pre-combat - that works fine. When I'm done blasting and try to hit my "off" macro (which is what I called the button to shift me back to Human and put up a Shining Shield) it shifts my tray, but doesn't shift me back to human form or put up the shield. Most bizarrely, when I'm NOT fighting something and just testing the macro outside of combat, it works fine!
Does anyone have a clue why this is happening?

Soooo...
I subjected the problem to my SG's group mind. What we found was that if we reversed the order of the language a bit, the Macros would stick. So we ended up with the following.
These are the ones we re-wrote that worked and did not vanish.
Dark Nova
/macro DN powexec_toggle_on dark nova$$goto_tray 9
Activates Nova form, and switches to power tray 9.
Black Dwarf
/macro BD powexec_toggle_on Black Dwarf$$goto_tray 8
Activates Dwarf form, and switches to power tray 8.
Human
/macro H powexec_toggle_off dark nova$$powexec_toggle_off black dwarf$$goto_tray 1
