Base Transporters? CoH vs CoV. CuppaJo's Response
Heh. I'd actually edited it down from an original ">99%" made mostly for rhetoric.
Totally off the topic...but just wanted to chime in that CuppaJoe is the coolest I sent a PM (and only 1 in over 2 years off/on playing) to CuppaJoe about a different issue...got a personal response the next day. How awesome is that

Thats exactly why I suggested that we have teleporters to the green and yellow lines instead of each zone. that way we only need one more telepad in the base, and we get all the zones.
I know for me this will be a great boon! I can't count the number of times I've been in some out of the way zone- Crey's Folley or Eden, finished my mish and called my contact: great, now I've got to go to Atlas. Argh! But this change would allow MUCH faster travel without having to do the dreaded green line/yellow line mambo.
I'd like to point out to the folks with smaller SGs that you do have an option other than joining a bigger SG to get this- coaltion with a bigger SG and ask them to set permissions to allow you to use their teleporters!

Well, I do. I also use base portal from anywhere except bricks to Creys Folley to get to PI faster - when that toon is over 40 and can enter Ritki Crash Site.
From PI, I use the base tp to the hollows to get to Atlas faster, and go to Perez to get to Steel or Galaxy faster.
And many, many more little shortcuts that aren't that short.

Interesting notion...does Positron's response mean TP *to* all zones, or TP *from* all zones (the blue swirly columns).
I took it to mean Base TPing *to* (mostly) all zones from the base only. Hazard zones would remain without the ability to TP to the base.

Ok first of all I have CoV. But not everyone that has CoH has CoV nor do they all want to get it. We are past the point of where people are going to buy CoV to get the additional content. A SG should have access to SG options including bases without needing both games. Will it bankrupt players to get it? No. Do all wanna get it? No.
It's there for them if they really want it. There's just that one little requirement..

Sure, I use all those but the DA one now. I used the DA one pre-Pocket D.
If I am in a lowbie zone, I'll tram to KR, hit P-D, Talos, and be right next to the trainer store magic store, etc.
If I am in a high zone, Bricks can tram to Talos, FF can P-D to Talos.
Precisely what zone would I have to be in for the base TP to DA to compare favorably to Pocket D? I'm going to Talos to sell, anyways :-)
TP to DA was good while it lasted, but Pocket D is much more awesome.
Base Portal to Talos is probably mandatory so you can skip an extra zoning thru Pocket D, once that is live. Talos and Sky let you tram everywhere. I like the one poster's suggestion:
one green line telepad, one yellow line. Make Talos the green and Skyway the yellow. Then each destination drops you off next to a trainer and not far from stores.
This would make bases more handy. Currently I find myself at odds with the leaders of my SG because I am reluctant to run in SG mode to build Prestige. My argument being that the only use the base has been are quick trips to Hazard Zones. Outside of that.. bases have no other usefulness for me.
Others have argued that we can rez at the base and port back to the zone we came from. True as that is, the rez is only partial, not a full rez like a hospital, and most hospital trips keep you in the same zone you came from. So hospital trips remain the better method of rez asided from a rez from a teammate.
So I have a very difficult time keeping in the spirit of building prestige when the prestige only buys the base more useless stuff. I'd rather build inf so I can buy ehancements.
Porters that will port us to any zone will be worth building prestige for. Once those are in the base.. then I will once again not see much use in continuing to build prestige.

Why though? You get a free months sub, the price is almost negative if you find it cheap enough, you don't have to make a villain... what is so horrible about four extra character slots, extra costume pieces and base access for a total cost of nothing?

[/ QUOTE ]I find myself largely in aggreement here. The bases are very low on usefulness, and SGs have become cattle calling side show barkers inviting anyone with lowbies to join. Most SG have become very impersonal and have deeply rooted 'cliques' or inner circles inside them. I see a trend in new commers to SGs getting most of their teams from PUGs rather then SGs.

The beacon drops you right off near the (never completed) TF door. For those of you that don't know, that's the very bottom of the map at the far end from the door. As a shortcut to BB it's not very good. In fact it's not very good for anything. Right now it's the one beacon that our SG has not bothered installing--we only have one teleport room and with the Raid porter + 3 basic porters the room is already full.

Guess you would have to ask the people who don't wanna buy it. We already saw CoV chase some players off. I can't imagine making a few things available to those without it making things any worse.

I have a few small requests in regards to teleporters, however.
Please, please, please, PLEASE, PLEASE! Make it so that when you use the base medbay from within a mission map, you are dropped at the door to your mission when you leave the base instead of landing at the teleport beacon location for the zone. Please. Pretty please. This is ever so much more convenient and nice and useful and many other adjectives which all mean good.

Considering that roughly >90% of the zone is right up the [censored] of a Giant Monster -- the various rock formations are the only really remotely safe areas in the whole zone.
