Base Transporters? CoH vs CoV. CuppaJo's Response

I suspect we might keep the hazard zones, and add a pad for Skyway/Brickstown, since Bricks and Perez are covered. With enough excess prestige I guess we could put together enough power/control to complete all telepads, but really, gotta add in the rez booth and such first.

[/ QUOTE ]
Depending on where it will drop you off at, Steel Canyon would probably be a good choice once it's in, especially if it dropped you off near the middle of the zone, equidistant from both the Green and Yellow lines.

Fantastic!!! Now open bases up to those who do not have CoV and we have ourselves a winner.

[/ QUOTE ]
I'd just go ahead and plop to $30 bucks down for it. $15 of it is an included month of gametime. The other $15 gets you a practically whole new game.

CoV really has some interesting additions that they need for CoH. Cutscenes during story arc missions, mayhem missions, etc.

Yay! I really want a teleporter to the Hive because most of my toons are super speed and it's a royal pain to leave and come back via Eden.

Good luck on that now that Positron responded.
But yeah... the whole "respawning in Base" to get Inspirations, then reappearing right outside the mission door was a HUGE Quality of life Improvement over the old Jello-Schtick... hoof it back to a Contact for Skittles... zone 3 times, THEN finally get back into your mission. If it's a time-sink issue, then give us some new Temp power + an SG device that let's us go straight back to the misison if we plant a Beacon in it.... sorta like the old-school "Diablo" portals.

Not asking for a whole lot here Devs, it would just be nice to have the OPTION.

Beacons to all zones sounds cool, but that is alot of telepads. So is there any way we are gonna get an Advanced Teleporter that holds four beacons or such? Cause that would be a good deal then.

Out of curiosity, how much is one month's sub?

I thought, I could be wrong, but I thought it was 19.99. That's what CoV's going for on the PlayNC page.

Thank you for your reply Positron!

I can't wait for the new base telepads . It will surely make travelling a great deal easier!

Posted

Now wait, it can't be ALL zones, can it? Both the Sewer zones have no explore badges. There aren't any in the Shadow Shard, either. PvP zones are only kinda-CoH. PocketD would be kinda pointless and there aren't any badges there.

.... Or should I say there aren't any badges there YET??

Anyway, getting them all would require a big honkin' base with some serious power and control. We'll have to pick and choose for sure.

Btw, please don't put Beacons in the PvP zones. I can just see some SG using a few characters to lure a larger group to the center of the map, where suddenly 10+ reinforcements Telepad right into the combat.

[/ QUOTE ]

They still have the 30 seconds countdown.

I hope this all means we get a Pocket D beacon. Our coalition occasionally rents it out for meetings.

Whoo. Hive beacon!

Now I never need to worry about making it to the raid on time.

I got tired of switching out beacons among just 2 telepads, so I ended up adding enough telepads to support all the currently available beacons. If they add beacons for all the other CoH zones, I'd probably start switching them out again, but I'd rather they just upped the beacon limit to 4 per telepad or something.

Either way, it's not a dealbreaker. It'd be nice to have beacons to zones we actually want and need to go to more often than Faultline or Boomtown.

[/ QUOTE ]

Or let us craft a better one. It is called the "Basic Telepad" after all....

My only issue is that now we have to visit all the badges for a zone again even if we have them - its kind of annoying but not debilitating

Yes. It's in our internal QA right now, making sure they all work right. (So it's a patch or three away from the Training Room server).

o.o oddly enough.. positron said the same thing to me back in november ^^;;

still WOOOT!! finally!

<.<how about advanced teleporters next that get 4 zones instead of two? or a central hub control that channels all the teleporters through so you don't have to play enie minie minie moe to guess the right one?

$15, but I've actually seen CoV on sale for below that recently. You can get it at GoGamer for $14.90 +S&H, for example. No good reason to not take advantage of it when it's below $15. You actually end up getting the game for free (or even getting some money back) when you take the free month into consideration.

That was kinda my point. It's not like it'll bankrupt someone, you don't have to make a villain with any of those extra four character slots per server. I seriously do not see why buying CoV is a hassle anymore.

Oddly I hit every badge again in SG mode when the issue 6 hit - I'm just hoping it kept track of that, and not just the ones that were active at that point. But if I have to again, eh. It's still worth it!

This is good to know, and thank you for telling us. We must now plot and plan and scrimp on prestige for some time.

I have a few small requests in regards to teleporters, however.

Please, please, please, PLEASE, PLEASE! Make it so that when you use the base medbay from within a mission map, you are dropped at the door to your mission when you leave the base instead of landing at the teleport beacon location for the zone. Please. Pretty please. This is ever so much more convenient and nice and useful and many other adjectives which all mean good.

I realize that the teleporters drop you at the beacon location for the zones. The location for Independence Port is...rather out of the way of very nearly everything. It's terribly inconvenient to use, and would be far more convenient were it, say, located near Icon or the Brickstown gate.

The Crey's Folly beacon is in a good place, not far from where most of the mission doors in that zone are.

The Striga beacon...well...What I will say is that it is conveniently close to Moonfire and the trainer. This makes it convenient to get to the task force contacts there. It's rather inconvenient otherwise, as many of the Striga missions are 3/4ths of a mile away from the beacon location.

Dark Astoria - It's conveniently close to the Adamastor spawn sites. This is good. It's not far from where most of the missions in DA seem to be located too. This is also good.

The Hollows - This...could be in a somewhat...better location. Near Flux wouldn't be bad. Near Julius would be tolerable. Where it is...It's not near most mission doors, it's on the far side of the Gulch from both gates, and it's really not a good location for a beacon in a zone used mostly by lowbies.

Perez Park - Nice and central for easy access to all of the linked zones. This makes me happy.

Boomtown - There are few enough missions in this zone that I don't find this beacon to be overly useful. Invariably in my experience, Boomtown missions are on the far side of the zone from where the beacon is.

Faultline - Do you know, I don't even recall where this beacon is, I haven't used this teleporter in so long? About the only use I see for this zone is accursed Vazhilok hunts and a quick shortcut to Bloody Bay if I'm somewhere like Founder's Falls or PI.

It would not be a bad thing to hear other commentary from other players on the locations of the beacons, if there is any possibility of having some of them moved to a somewhat better location.

[/ QUOTE ]It's interesting that the devs have looked at a specific SG base problem, and have confirmed a fix is on the way. They also stated that they will look into SG issues between issues 7 and 8. It is now between issues 7 and 8.

If you excuse me, I'm going to go get my hopes up now. :3

Considering that roughly >90% of the zone is right up the [censored] of a Giant Monster -- the various rock formations are the only really remotely safe areas in the whole zone.

1) This is what would be called a well-executed ambush, and hence a valid tactic.

2) Those 10+ reinforcements would need 30 seconds to clear their PvP flags, remember?

heh, I was exploring the Hive the other day, got too close to Hamidon and got killed by a Mito. Not thinking about it, I rezzed in my base, then zoned back... right in the middle of Hamidon. At least they were nice enough to allow me to fully load before killing me

this is very good news, by the way. having a FF beacon will make life so much better.
