TopDoc's Damage Badge guide

Initial testing and an educated guess indicates you'd get credit for about 2400 damage. But it would take a lot more testing to be sure.

I don't think it would, TopDoc - else if you had no damage badges, you get whallomped by a burning building, you'd get significant process since you get hit for like 400k...but I never noticed the remotest bit of gain the many times I've suicided on the things. Unless it only counts if you don't die (fire does 2 tics, so you die for certain)?

Interesting guide. Thanks for putting it together.

So I figured I'd post something that *seems* to be working well so far.

Doing the even con galaxy tactic. Well he's yellow to me at least, not white so I guess that's +1 but did it at the lowest difficulty paper mission possible.

I'm level 44 Fire/Dark corrupter with High Pain Threshhold accolade. Resting with one heal SO I'm taking 686 hits a pop from the Galaxy at range and healing up to full right before the next hit which takes me down to about half hits.

The first time I tried getting set up the Galaxy got froggy and went into melee with me and killed me in three hits. At the time of this post I've been sitting for.. 20 minutes or so and he's not moved once so I think I'm good for a long session.

Just wanted to share what seems to be working for me currently.

Thanks for the guide!

Someone over on Badge-Hunter finally did a test with and without Accolades, and found that having Accolades DID prevent you from getting full damage credit.

Stick to my original advice. Avoid DoTs and even small fast attacks (Galaxies). Stick to bigger slower attacks if you have Accolades.

[/ QUOTE ]

right now im being blasted by a Vortex Core Leonis Sonic for about 289pts damage every 10 seconds. Toon is MM with all Accolades and Triple Slot SO Health and 1 SO Health in Rest.

Before that I was using an L50 Galaxy for 189pts every five seconds. Both are giving some progress for me while I wrap up some paperwork for my job.

Tried to set it up to have both at once shoot me but MM too squishy

The challenge of setting up for a good resting damage hunt is a reward all its own! I haven't had this much fun in ages!

I had good results on my Lvl 50 Ice/Kin Corrupter using a Lvl 50 Boulder while on rest. The Boulder would hit for 600+ points every 9 seconds or so, almost exactly what I'd heal before the next blow. The only thing I had to do special was to make sure to get stuck in a crevice or his knockback would put me out of aggro range after a while.

I found that a lvl 45 harlequin juggler was just right for my lvl 45 MM (already has the High Pain Threshhold accolade). Managed to get the Juggler to stay at range and do about 280 points of damage per attack, which happened about every 5 seconds. Minus the 80 points or so that isn't counted because of my accodade, it still managed to get me about 4 mil in 18 hours. Roughly 200hp/5sec = 2400 per minute = 144k per hour. Hmmmm musta been higher than that....all that rounding musta trimmed some....

Anyway, thanks for the tips. I built up some debt exploring who could damage me the 'best', but learned some stuff.

An heal enhancement in rest seemed to not help, as you indicated, as I am a MM.

An even level CoT Guide did much more damage, but I couldn't heal it in time and after about 5 minutes, I'd go down.

I thought I found a great way to take damage (and even adjust the damage) when I did the Kill Radio mission that you get from television. It had two of those sonic bombs that as you damage them they do AOE damage to all around them in frequent pulses. I got it doing about 300 points of damage consistently and set my twilight grasp to auto fire which easily healed me back up, but would occasionally miss. no big deal if it missed once, or even twice, but I could see it missing three times and that would be that. I tried summoning my pets to work on my heal badges (mainly for the sg benefits), and they would always spawn and get aggroed by the damage and I'd have to manically click the passive/defend before they'd damage it or rush in. My aoe heal would get them too and I had a good chunk of healing done on 5 pets for about 5 minutes, but then inevitably I'd miss once or twice and they'd die.

Sadly, I completed the mission before I realized how 'farmable' the sonic traps were, so the first time I took a nose dive, that was it. I couldn't awaken as I'd still be taking damage, and that made it very hard to get into rest as well(I never succeeded, got maybe 2 times where it missed me completely but needed to be missed 3 or 4 to get into rest). Maybe your idea about popping 10 breakfrees would have been the solution.....

Pretty fun. I logged off just before the maintenance this morning and completed the Carnival mission (just to get revenge on that carnie who did 4mil damage to me!), but I'm sure I can get another from the newspaper no problem.

The Galaxies didn't seem to do much damage to me, but I may try that again and bump the setting to get a +1 or 2 Galaxy and see if that is any better....

Thanks!

My L50MM tested against a Galaxy Adjutant. Same level but this is a Lieutenant. about a 15second recharge between his blasts which is enough time to heal. He does 711pts per hit. While im not a fan of damage farming especially for the epics, if I were to do so, a Galaxy Adjutant is what id' use.

I stumbled upon an idea that may win me some mensa prizes. What's better than one harlequin juggler at even con? The surprising answer is: 2 harlequin jugglers at even con.

They tend to alternate between one solid hit for 282 pts of damage(lvl 46) and one DoT trickle of 51 points x 4 or 5. I'm a micron or two away from the badge and then I'm going to get jiggy on them.

I've heard of this method before and only tried it semi-recently with a new villain, just to watch for progress on the bar. My main 50 Rad/Rad has had a Carnie mission forever, and wouldn't ya know there were two (even level) Jugglers right at the door? To easily get into rest, I simply opened up with an RI (Radiation Infection) and hit rest right after that, along with putting my heal on auto.

They're currently doing 290 damage (each) every 5 seconds or so (which will also be her total badge count whenever I get the badge ). Not sure how quick this may be compared to any other methods/mob choices, but I'll take it. I don't even have Unbreakable yet.

One other thing to note: there's at least one base item that requires damage to be taken. So especially if you're in a smaller SG, consider doing this in SG mode.

I've got a new damage farm that appears to be significantly faster than anything I've heard of. It lets non-Tankers approach or beat Tanker level damage. Stalkers and Scrappers should be able to do it solo, but everyone else will need outside help. Here's the Why and the How.

The devs somewhat recently added "one-shot" code, which prevents someone from being defeated with a single attack. If you are at full health, no matter how big the attack, you can only be brought down to 1 HP. You take 4 times normal damage when Resting, so a Nasty attack turns into a Huge attack. If you are hit with a Huge attack every once in a while, but can fully heal between attacks, you can take a LOT of damage for a long time. Initial testing indicates that you can get credit for somewhere around 3 times your base HP towards the damage badges per attack. That's why this method is better than the previous method, which always assumed you were taking LESS than your HP every 8-12 seconds.

On the villain side, Operative Grillo gives a Rikti mission. (You may have to do all of Vernon von Grun's missions to get introduced to Grillo.) I don't know of any other level 50 Villain Rikti missions, but I haven't looked. If you know of any, please mention them here. The more damage the better, so set your Difficulty to Relentless. Head into the mission and deal with the ambush on the way to the boss at the end. This Rikti boss hits for 2560 damage (if you're 50 and he's 52) with a BIG sword type thing once every 8.5 seconds in melee range. His attack can knock you around, so you need Knockback protection or you need to get yourself in a corner. Stand next to the boss, and smack him to get him mad and in a melee mood. (You may want to pop a couple Lucks before to make sure he doesn't smack you around too bad while getting set up, and take some Break Frees as well.) If necessary, break sight around a corner, and make sure he's right next to you when he can see you again. Eventually he'll draw his sword. If you need to be in a corner, move a little bit at a time. If you get out of melee range, he'll switch back to ranged attacks. When you're ready, hit Rest right after an attack. If you need a Healer, make sure they're in position behind the boss and as far away as possible.

Heroes can do the same thing, but probably have it easier finding a Rikti mission. I think you can get a few friends together to do the Rikti Respec, and you'll get nice high level bosses.

Now this works solo for Scrappers and Stalkers IF they have 2 Healing SOs in Rest to cap their Regen. With 2 SOs, they regen all of their HP in 8 seconds, which should just beat the attack rate of the boss. Tankers and Brutes regen a bit slower, at 9.6 seconds with a single Healing SO in Rest. It takes some outside healing to survive, though maybe only a level 12 single-target healer. Squishies take 12 seconds to regen to full. Even squishies with PBAoE heals can't heal up to full between attacks, but they should be able to survive with a low level single-target healer on the side. (A level 1 Emp Defender should do thanks to Vigilance, but a Thermal Rad Corruptor will need to be level 5 and slot Cauterize with END Reduction.) Squishies without a heal will probably need a mid or high level single-target healer to keep them alive.

If you don't have any Accolades, this method should get you over one Million HP of damage per hour. Even with Accolades, it's still over 900 K per hour (depending on your AT). You can earn the Unbreakable badge overnight (required for the Born in Battle villain Accolade).

The one-shot prevention method was discussed on badge-hunter.com a little while ago, but didn't get very far. After some testing using minions, several people found that Circle of Thorns Guides worked fairly well if you had two accounts. But it wasn't worthwhile for 2 people to trade taking damage and healing. Thanks go to Arcannaville for finding the Rikti boss though. It makes this method by far the best way for almost anyone to earn damage. If you're a squishy, it IS worth your while to find another squishy, both train up healers, and take turns healing or taking damage.

If you try this, please post your results here.

I have the problem of very few options as to oponents. I have two missions, one DE and one Longbow. Knowing the DE have LOTS of status effects, I tried the Longbow. Lvl 49 MM with HPT (so +10% hp). Every Longbow I tried would get into melee range and hit me with the Rifle butt and do 450+ damage. The recharge was about 6 seconda, so I couldn't heal last enough. The Flamethrower was promising, but the DoT was just a little too high (about 5% more than I could heal between attack routines). Finally, I found the right opponent - an even con Spec Op. He does approximately 3/4 of my hp every 12 seconds (in bursts), so I am not nearly capped, but I made 1,760,000 in 9.5 hours, so it's not too shabby, and I don't have to worry too much about a string of lucky hits taking me out. According to the guide, the Spec Ops attacks have a KB component, but I have Acrobatics, so no worries there.

Also, the Longbow Spec Op has another bonus - As part of their attack routine, they take time to go Invisible. If you time it right, this makes getting INTO Rest Mode very easy.

On my 50 (non-regen) scrapper, I use rest (one-slotted with heal) with a level 52 council darkwolf minion. It does 781 per hit; at first it hits fast enough that it would kill me if I didn't have dull pain up, but before the first dull pain runs out it runs itself mostly out of endurance at which point it hits just slightly less often than my regen rate. Since I have all the accolades I would love something that hits harder and less often but this is the best I've found so far (and I can get them on the rugged setting in PI police band radio council missions).

As I recall damage done while dull pain is up does not count toward the badge as it is not actually your health that is being damaged. Unless this has changed , but i doubt it.

I'm having pretty good luck right now as a lvl 50 robotics/dark MM in a council newspaper mission set to villainous. Got myself two Galaxy missions tped to me, put twilight grasp on auto and walked away. The damage isn't that awesome, but I figure leaving this on while I got to bed should get me the badge in a week or so.

Farming for damage and debt is really lame, and I hate that so many of the cool villain accolades require something so benign. How can the devs even remotely think this is fun?

Great guide btw, very informative.

When the guide was written, it actually was Nigh Indestructible that was needed for the accolade. Fortunately Positron caved in on that one and lowered it to Unbreakable...which is still more than a little crazy for a lot of ATs, but at least it's not as bad as it used to be.

Actually, you should find a level 53 Guide. It doesn't matter what level you are, the one-shot code will prevent you from dying. For example, a level 32 char only has around 800 HP, they get hit for around 2500, but they survive and end up with 1 HP.

You will fully heal between attacks if you're a Melee AT with a Healing SO in Rest, otherwise you need a fast auto-fire heal (Healing Aura or Radiant Aura) or outside assistance.

IF 2 peopel were there would the mob stay stuck on the resting person becsue they are healign MORE of the dmaeg they are getitng done to them and they are aa jucies target becasue of rets OR woudl they swap over to attakc soem oen else standign nere buy with heal triggered to auto...

Considerign workign on this for my self and the healign badge for my RL buddy ta the same time, sinc ei have a blaster i would need the help to use this ones shot code not that i realyl knwo what it is but i can guess

The Healer needs to avoid being a target. Healing from max range works on single target heals. If you only have a PBAoE heal, then you'll want full Invis through Stealth and Super Speed. But you can probably get by if you carefully position the healer out of Line Of Sight (LOS) of the Rikti (like around a corner), but still close enough to heal the resting char.

What about non-bungie jumping? That has to net some damage...right? And the flight back up is enough time to regen. Worth the time you suppose?

You're making a classic blunder. Never get involved in a land war in Asia. Never go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line. And never think that your source of damage is the most important thing when farming the damage badges.

Lots of things do damage. That isn't the issue. In order to farm damage badges, you need to survive the damage that you take. So earning damage badges is REALLY about the fastest method of regaining HP. Once you figure out the fastest way to regain HP (while AFK), only then should you look for a damage source.

If you rely on natural Regen while flying up for another drop, you'll find it's a WHOLE lot slower than resting. Like 20 times slower.

If you want to find something better than resting in front of a mob, you need to find something better than resting. Once you've done that, you can look for a damage source.

Its been an awfully long time since someone posted here, so I just wanted to say this strat of resting still works. Nice work puttin this together TopDoc

I'm running a lvl 50 brute with the HPT badge and a single regen SO dropped into rest. I found a lvl 52 op engineer will continuously Brawl me for 497 damage/hit, which worked fine. I think a 53 would have worked slightly better. Make sure he's dropped his machine gun pet and you've destroyed it first. It just gets in the way.

Another mob that worked: Freedom phalanx shotgunner (or maybe minigunner) - it was only a 51 tho so I wanted to try something faster.

Mobs that didn't work: Pretty much all council guys. Someone mentioned Council Galaxies earlier but a 52 minion didn't register on the badge meter (maybe because of HPT?) and a 52 lieut version did too much damage.

Note: In my first attempt I tried simply letting mobs bash me (without rest) and noticed after a while you stopped getting increases in the progress meter. Not sure why.
