Hrm, interesting. Still wishing we knew more. I watched part of the Ustream from yesterday and he mentioned something about "Intrepid Informer" having made allusions to new powersets, so I went through all those again and couldn't dig anything up. I thought maybe someone found screenshots or blog entries or some such to give us better information on what to expect.
So I've heard Titan Weapons (whatever THAT is supposed to be, Anime-style weaponry set?), Staff Fighting and Street Justice. Any others I may have missed being stumbled upon? -
Just curious where everyone is learning about the upcoming powersets like Titan Weapon, Staff Fighting, et al. I figure the information must be accurate since they got Street Justice spot on. Just wanted to figure out what's coming down the pipe next and get a bead on what to expect.

Well I figure we can either be annoying on a forum post...
Or.
Or.
Send them peanuts!
(I kid, no one flood Paragon with peanuts...those poor people wouldn't know what to do with that much attention in foodstuffs.) -
I just wanted to say that I agree, as players and followers of the game, we're spoiled by the treatment from the dev team. Thanks guys.
Having said that, I think it would be fair to either let us know if they are reconsidering adding more to the pack/creating an additional pack.
Will there be a "long robes" pack coming? A "Haberdash" pack with all sorts of cranial coverings? Perhaps even a "hey we missed this sundry stuff previously, enjoy" packs with loads of little additions?
I am not angry mind you, just saddened that as responsive as the team can be, they never really seem to say much. We've asked for long robes for...how old is the game now?
Clipping. Indeed. Just saddened. -
Weird, I was going to buy the pack when I saw the long robes/hats (I literally got excited at the idea of such cool pieces finally being added) and I couldn't find it in the creator. I came on the board to see what section they were hiding under, and lo and behold...no long robes, no hats, no gloves.
I'm with Samuel Tow on this one, no more half-assing. I've got more than enough ill-fitting meshes, clipping art costume pieces as it is for this to be an excuse. I use what works and leave the rest alone when it doesn't clip. (Has anyone seen the High Collar Robe + shoulder pads? HAHA!) -
Okay my son is watching Elmo until I get his bath ready, so I jumped in real quick. Don't judge me...
Indeed, I did not have them toggled, I just had a moment apparently. I am showing 39.5%
And now that I've embarrassed myself completely I will sulk away and find a Steadfast 3% at lunch. Thanks for the heads up guys! -
Holy cow, I just realized something. When I was checking those numbers it was when I first logged in. There's a distinct possibility I never kicked on my toggles. *facepalm* Still trying to figure out why I get mopped up so easily.
It's not every time mind you, just occasionally they just manage to get me just right and plow over me. I'll do some testing later when I get a change and update you guys so you know just how idiotic even experienced players can be. I suspect I am indeed that idiot today. ;-) -
So it's not listing my actual "total" in the Combat Attributes window, just by the factor it is affected? What I mean to say is, if it's showing 10% that just means that a power that gives you 30% base is now affected 10% more?
-
So very terribly wrong. I think.
I've reviewed all the builds on here, and yes, I am aiming for a farmer simply because I want to be in the IN crowd. I'm cool like that.
Let me start by stating, I am the world's WORST with mids. I have tried and tried and simply cannot put it together like some of you and I am in tremendous awe of any of you who do so.
Having said that, it looks like all the S/L capping is coming from a combination of Tough, Weave, Stone Armor. In most of those cases they are built with the same IOs. Red Fortune and Reactive Armor. Having followed those guides and thinking "Ah hah, I am cool now!" I have gotten my face literally melted.
So I opened up Combat Attributes in game, and I find it says I have 25%...
This struck me as odd because I was under the impression that these would net me around 35-45%. I have to get my son up, so I haven't got the time to set it up in Mids for you, but I'd be happy to later if needed. But I have 5 slots in each using those two IO sets.
What did I miss? Can anyone tell me? Is it just the way it displays in game?
*Edit - correction it is listing as 10%. -
Thanks for the help guys. I'll take a look and see if it works out for me. Again, I am horrible with Mids and at least you've given me a starting point.
-
Okay I give. I've combed the forums for the past few days and I am coming up empty. I am horrible at creating builds in Mids, I have a hard time putting them together for some as-of-yet unknown reason.
Can someone put me on easy-mode for a claws/electric armor? I know it has issues with the s/l cap, and to get there requires Obliterate and other expensive IO sets, but given time I think I can pull it off. Currently sitting at 35, but hoping some of you seasoned build makers can lend a hand. -
Bah, it'll get better. We'll have another 80's I am sure.
-
Right, and I've considered doing just that. Right now I am testing out this whole Dual Pistol/Mental thing. While I think the powers probably mesh well, I am not sold on the image. Maybe it's because I changed his uniform as well...I will keep tinkering. I am also playtesting some other powersets to see what feels good. I have a dual blades/willpower brute I love to play, but I am not a repeater, so I doubt I will make a scrapper version for that reason.
-
Curse you television developers! Yea, I was alerted to that some time ago. It's still a solid concept, especially since my back ground is far more detailed and more...serious?
Dual Pistols is pretty solid? I remember when it first came out a lot of people derided it for low damage and some other things they found fault with, I think redraw was another? -
My primary namesake is a point of issue for me. I have yet to find a good AT for him. I am hoping you fantastically brilliant folks can lend a hand.
Captain Simian comes from the planet Prime-8 and is a Captain of the Prime-8 Space Fleet. He has a fairly detailed back story with one gaping flaw...I have no specific powers.
I based him on Rocket Raccoon a Marvel IP that I've always enjoyed seeing in its limited runs. (Look, I watch a lot of Bugs Bunny, it's not a furry thing.) I recently found out someone made a TV cartoon called Captain Simian sometime back...and he's a space gibbon as well. Who knew?
My initial idea was more pulp-fiction style (think swashbuckling space captain with more than a dash of Captain Kirk thrown in). Somewhere in between Doc Savage and John Carter on Mars. Ideally he would have a pistol and saber in my mind's eye. But I've since come to grips with that not being even remotely possible with the way ATs work.
My play style tends toward scrapperlock, so I know that if I cannot get up on the mobs and beat them up I probably won't survive long or enjoy the play time much.
Can you guys lend a hand? Need more info? -
jg, would a brute work out at all, or are you pretty well sold on tankers?
-
Orphans. Almost all of them have been left to their own devices, for better or worse. But they all have a thirst for justice. Except Deals. He's just...mean.
-
Hero One is pretty specific, but ultimately generic. The lack of several key pieces really prevents us from selling the costume. Most notably the cape with the Jack, his center chest piece and helmet.
Having said that, your Nemesis outfit is crazy. I realllly wish I could get on and get a screenshot of my clockwork (prime), I am very proud of Glitch.
As an aside I REALLY wish I had more robot options. I would die to remake a more accurate Mech Man for my former 5th Column bot. -
This thread is epic if only for the oo and ah factor. I can't wait to see more.

I am just going to go ahead and assume that BA is in fact gone, despite no "confirmation" aside from the typical no-comment.
I don't keep my subscription up-to-date all the time but I am an avid fan of the game and tend to purchase many of the boosters as I can afford them. But I liked BA.
So consider this my send off to what he leaves behind here at CoX.
Fondest memory, a PM I received when I commented that the only "tribal" shield was African in origin and didn't fit with my Souix concept. His comment "Thanks you won me $5 for complaining within 5 minutes of the announcement of the shields." Yep, I felt like a heel, but his graphics are always solid as a rock. Thanks for the laughs big guy! -
-
Oh yeah, and I was curious if Father Christmas ever addressed that shopping list notation. The poster said the memory didn't fit (it wasn't the right speed) and to try another motherboard.
I know the memory could be overclocked, so I am not sure if he ever directly addressed any of that. -
Fair enough Cade.
Yes, a new monitor is in order. I am a big media buff, so I stream movies, play games, work and generally (god how did this happen to me?) in front of this rig. The laptop has run everything to satisfaction, but like all things in life "wish it could do more". Multi-monitor would be a nice change especially for work. (Not kidding...how weird to say that...)
I am trying to have to keep the costs down, so let's keep the rig itself at or under 1500. I've read Santa's rig write ups. They are really informative.

I am coming from a somewhat angry place right now with Dell due to this somehow shortened warranty. Come Monday when customer support opens back up I will know more, but I know how Dell is and they never fun when they think they are right.
So would it be best to buy the parts and pieces and put it all together or get a warranty plan with a manufacturer? To give you some perspective, when I bought this laptop it came with a GeForce 8600M GT card. What they don't tell you is that the memory is in has a reduced pipeline, so it's a downgraded version of the full on mobile card. (For the record it has performed admirably, I only know this because I did my research before buying it.) I just don't trust when I buy something and the seller isn't completely forthright, and then shortens their warranty.
</rant>
I am rather technically skilled so assembly isn't the issue. But if a part goes out (and they always seem to within a year or two) I have to follow up on manufacturer warranties which generally only last a year, and track each one seperately. Either way it's a headache.
Now that I've ranted and raved...*sighs*
Let's see what we've got for details.
Monitor - check
dual monitor - capability later is fine
HD - yes please, movies are so pretty
SLI/Crossfire - Not necessary, but I do like other games that support it, and hopefully we can get it for CoH soon.
Ultra-Mode - at LEAST capable of mid-range settings with decent FPS
Size constraints - could care less. Let's build a rack!! (I kid...or do I? mwa haha)
Cost constraints - rig under 1500, prefer under 1000 to accomodate a nicer monitor.
As a side note I see iBUYPOWER.com has some pretty reasonable boxes up for what appear reasonable prices. Anyone have experience with buying there? -
Hey guys, I've loved how up-to-date you guys can be and so I am turning to you all for a little help. I am a skilled technician, but haven't worked in the computer field for well over 5 years.
Let me bring you up to speed. In March of 2008 I bought myself and my wife two Vostro Dell laptops on a steal and they have run our gaming and business needs remarkably well. Today my power supply...died? Sort of. It's on the way out, so I called Dell and much to my chagrin my 3 year warranty has apparently expired a year early. Fancy that.
So unless customer service can make everything happy with rainbows I am stuck with a system that I cannot do much more than moderately surf the web. I work from home, so you can imagine how much this will affect me.
I am hoping you technical lot can help me figure out what I need, and how to find it cheapest in order to run my beloved CoH, preferably with ultra mode settings. I've bounced around in here, but it's a bit hit or miss or dated.
Do you guys think it would be best to build it myself or go through someone to get a reliable setup? Not concerned about the budget until the wife says "whoa there fella". But at the same time I am not a rich guy either, so budget is something of a concern. Right now I need to just get a preliminary view of what I am looking at.
On a side note/related question, I have next to no experience in maintaining a water-cooled system. Is it worth it? Is there a high maintenance to it? Like I said, I am married, I have enough high maintenance going on. ;-)
Thanks in advance for any help or direction you guys can give. I sincerely appreciate your taking time to even read this. -
Quote:In the same boat with you. Character creation...floors me. It's just simply so much. I literally spent 12 straight hours making a toon. My wife yelled at me at one point because I hadn't even played the game and just sat here giggling. As an old-time tabletop Champs player, it actually sounded very much like the classic experience. Character creation is amazingly detailed and customizable and fun; the actual gameplay is clunky and often tiresome.
Gameplay? Forget it. There are a few things that are nice, but for the most part CoH wins hands down. I couldn't even tell you what the problem was for me, but I just couldn't get accustomed to it.
I came back here for two reasons community and dev team. I loves me some City of. Did I mention bases? I love bases too. Oh and the catgirls. No wait, I don't like the catgirls. Well sorta...*walks off arguing with himself*
