You mean acid arrow, Which is quite a fine power.

It's not for dmg it's debuff. Debuffs are 15% RES, 25% def base.

[/ QUOTE ]
The resistance debuff for the Defender version has always been 20%.

I haven't had the patience to test the defense debuff, considering what spending hours testing Flash Arrow has gotten us.

20%? Ahh ty, I believe lum has direct confirmation of the 25% def debuff. I just know numbers i see on these boards.

25% defense debuff, straight from the tippety tappety fingers of _Castle_.

How does everyone feel about getting together Wednesday night for some testing? Say, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. EST? That should give any west-coasters time to get home, and still be early enough for those of us on the east coast. Yesno? Noyes? Fishinpinktutus?

Coo, I'm off wednesday. Unless RL finds a way to interfere i'll be there.

Fishinpinktutus!

Sure, Trickshooter can be there.

P.S. Oil Slick Arrow is still not lighting everytime with this latest patch, though I'm not sure if it's supposed to, the patch notes seem to suggest simply a higher chance of it.

From the 5/8/06 Training Room patch notes:

[ QUOTE ]
* Changed the timing on the Oil Slick Ignite effect to improve its chances of affecting the Oil Slick.
* Glue Arrow now has a -Fly component. For real this time.
* Fixed an issue where Entangling arrow could be escaped, despite its -Fly component by jumping/flying out of it.

I mean come on...what would Manticore say about this

[/ QUOTE ]

Nothing. Manticore's an Archery/TA blaster.

[/ QUOTE ]

If he's an Archery/TA blaster, then he has exactly the power set I want, and have wanted since before I ever heard of CoH, gimped or not. :-)

NO MORE EXCUSES, DEVS! :-D

I'll almost certainly be happy with I7....."SOON(tm)"

Too bad "Maturity" isn't an Enhanceable power.

Anybody with a bow is okay in my book. ;-)

You can predownload I7 on live servers now.

I haven't been much into testing before this issues though i plan on participating more in the future.

Does this mean they are done making changes to I7 ?

Posted

No, the prepatch is just that huge patch with most of the stuff that is definitely going in the game. Just like on Test now, we had the big one and then a few tiny ones. They're just sparing people the looong download time the day I7 DOES go live. I7 isn't going Live after only like.. what? Two weeks. People can dream, but it won't happen.

Anyway, I can say without a doubt that the Glue Arrow changes now make it possibly the most annoying power in PvP for enemies. Can you believe I almost defeated a Stalker and Brute at the sametime using Glue Arrow and Oil Slick Arrow? The Stalker eventually reached the edge of the patch and hopped away, but the Brute... can't SMASH what you can't catch, I guess. Did I defeat either though? Nope, got defeated by one of them annoying Ice/Rad corrupters. Serves me right for being a solo Defender, I guess, but I was sooo close.

[/ QUOTE ]
Whatever was done, it did not work. Nor do I feel it's a justifiable method based on the description. There should be no chance at all for the ignition process—which is already dependent on a power external to Trick Arrow—to fail.

I tested 30 Oil Slicks and here are my light/fail to light results.
<ul type="square">[*]16 Oil Slicks ignited
— Of these, 4 required multiple attempts due to missing but eventually ignited[*]14 Oil Slicks failed to ignite
— Of these, 4 required multiple attempts due to missing and failed to ignite when eventually hit[*]Ignition percentage on successful hit: 53.33%
There is also the matter of flat-out missing our own Oil Slick, which deserves some sort of response and repairing. I actually tested 31 Oil Slicks, but had to disqualify one because I could not hit the Oil Slick until the nanosecond before it expired, and couldn't tell if it would have lit or not.

My hit/miss ratio (and I'm including Oil Slick 31 here) is as follows. Using Blazing Arrow to light the Oil Slick, with an even-level SO accuracy enhancement in it.
<ul type="square">[*]31 hits (whether or not Oil Slick ignited)[*]10 misses[*]Successful hit percentage: 75.61%
Is there a reason that we should ever miss our own power? The ignition process of Oil Slick is conceptually acceptable, but is simply not practical in use.

* Glue Arrow now has a -Fly component. For real this time.

[/ QUOTE ]
Glue Arrow does prevent flight now, thank you! It still cannot be used on a target that is flying (if the target is more than a few feet off of the ground); this is consistent with other dropped slow powers, and helps validate Entangling Arrow's existence.

You'll start getting them. It took me a few weeks of irregular visits to Siren's and trying various tactics, but eventually, I started getting more than free hospital tokens.

[/ QUOTE ]

Glue is even worse for brutes. -recharge = bye-bye Fury. And no Fury = not much of a threat. They can still stun/hold you, briefly, but the -recharge and lack of Fury just takes the wind right out of their sails. Plus, your attacks don't come fast enough to help them build up Fury, either!

TA/A is one of the worst sets for either stalkers or brutes to face. Even without the recent fixes. Anti-Hide with Acid and Blazing, anti-Fury with Glue and Oil Slick.

Just remember the flip side. /TA MMs. They get to debuff you, and continue attacking while they do it.

I just made my Merc/TA on live so I could start leveling him up. Ranged all the way.

That's why I like fighting the other ATs in Siren's. It's more of a challenge, less binary. Brutes and stalkers, you either hit them first with your negator, or they kill you in short order.

But corrupters, dominators, and masterminds... those are the real challenges. Will I be able to get close enough to fire off Ice Arrow first, or will they spot me and hit me with their own mez? Will my debuff cut the incoming damage enough to let me outlast them, or will they get to me first? How do I counter them without being someone who relies on inspirations for every fight (i don't feel they should be removed from PvP, only that it's more challenging and enjoyable to accomplish something without them, as well as prefering to save inspirations for real emergencies, when they could prevent debt or help save a team at a critical moment)?

I'd take a fight with a mastermind over a fight with a stalker any day. At least the mastermind is likely to stick around for more than 3 seconds once I hit him/her the first time.

Hehe I recently created a Merc/TA but I put her on hold once I heard about the i7 goodies. BTW, did you take the Merc set attacks? I didn't. I thought it would be excessive to draw both a bow and a rifle.

Ran her through a Relentless mission on Test, something I would have never dared before, and she actually pulled through with flying colors. Having glue arrow up very often (seemed almost perma with 3 SOs) and AoE debuffs that are actually AoE! Fancy that... Oh and serum was actually handy to have around (usually never use it) for the purple boss who started bashing through my front line. Ooo so scary.

I took slug for the ghetto knockback and the damage it dealt. In the low levels it is great, although I may respec out of it when I hit the upper levels to get flash Arrow instead for that little bit of extra surviveability.

I'll see how it plays out, and personaly I it just fits my character concept to have both a bow ans a gun. Styled after Rambo, but I named him Raunbo. Search for Raun-bo to see why.

Today on test!!

[ QUOTE ]
* The Slow Tables for Controllers and Defenders were reversed, with Defenders having a lower modifier than desired. Rather than correct this by switching the values, we've opted to increase Defenders Slow modifier by 25% to 125% value. This puts them on equal footing in terms of Slow powers with Controllers.

[/ QUOTE ]

WOOT!!! Indirect buff to glue arrow and we are now on even footing with controllers as to it's use.

I'm not sure that's "woot" worthy. It's possible I'm the only one who thinks that a power in our primary should perform better than that power in someone else's secondary, I suppose. Presumably this change should affect Oil Slick Arrow and the new-and-slightly-undebuffed Entangling Arrow.

I question the bit about slow tables having been reversed with Defenders and Controllers, since we were told by _Castle_ that it was intentional for Controllers to slow better than Defenders. I mean, I agree that slow sounds more like a debuff and should fall into Defender domain, but contradictions like this confuse my little brain.

Still, a buff is a buff.

Fighting lag. 2 steps forward, 5 steps back. Restarting to try to get it under control. When I log back in, I'm heading for Steel Canyon, outside the Siren's exit. As good a place as any to meet up to start out.

Still waiting for more people. Trickshooter is with me, Kenja and ScrewySquirrel are on.

We're starting in Steel to compare notes and figure out how to do a reasonable test with the heroes (due to level variations and inability of some to access some zones), then moving into Siren's to meet up with the villainous TAs.

Get in it.
