This is a brand new SG (Just created at 3 am this morning!) and recruiting is wide open! -
you'll want Taunt *MUCH* earlier. Its the ONLY way you'll actually protect blasters and anyone with trick arrow. If you don't have it at 34, I'd go respec into it.

I'm really glad that it worked for you in pvp, at least somewhat. My experiences were the exact opposite. Got of glue arrow in a few fights and an oil slick. Was never able to get oil slick to light and then i was targted once the slick was down and pretty much insta killed due to 0 defense. CJ did nothing to prevent me from being hit and I really didn't expect that it would with its miniscule def bonus.
Our debuffs don't seem to do much to heros and on the villian side did little to help in fights vs the AV's.
The animations took way too long for me to even attempt to get anything fired off or debuffed in any sort of rapid succession. I'd get about 2 shots off and then get killed by passing blasters/scrappers/tankers etc.. Had an empathy try to save me once but that was pretty sad, they just died too. All the other heros were just as busy dealing with villians and their own problems or non problems for the scrappers/tankers
All in all i was not impressed with the slow / squishy feel of TA/A. PvE the changes have helped a little bit at the mid levels

I have to ask what you normally play? Defenders are always very squishy and are almost always a high-priority PvP target. If you aren't used to playing a squishy character (Defenders, Blasters, Controllers) it can be a pain.
[/ QUOTE ]
Used to play a controller and a scrapper, then went to a tank and a dark defender for a bit. Now i play a dominator, brute & mm. So i'm familiar with squishy characters. The problem is TA/A has no real good defense at all in the set. The debuffs for acc of foes is pretty pathetic compared to dark/rad/etc... My grav/rad controller was much less squishy even before this whole containment ED junk
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, Trick Arrow/Archery has about the defenses of a blaster, and needs to be played as such. YOu have the aggro-seizing ability of a fire/fire blaster (maybe better), so you must be careful. NEVER lead the way. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm used to playing squishy characters, but last night was rediculous. I got 2 arrows out (pick any 2) and was one shotted. Namely by a thorn scrapper who had it in for me. I couldn't do anything. (Let me not start on Gang War)
OH well back to test and try to give it another go...
[/ QUOTE ]
the only things one-shotting me were Ghost Widow, Sirocco, and Mako -- but a lvl 54 Giant Monster SHOULD one-shot my lvl 40 character. It took 3 full teams working togther to take down ghost widow in the fight I mentioned above -

I was in the RV test last night with a TA/A Defender named Black Archer III.
I must say that I was quickly singled out as a Major target after dropping glue arrow, disruption arrow, and oil slick and lighting it up in quick succession on about 5 villians at once.
I'm not the best PVPer around even in a Stalker, but I was getting kills. Also managed to quite nicely solo my Cape Mish (I exited out of RV just long enough to run the cape mish and 2nd costume mish, finishing both in about an hour). I'm going to HAVE to make that costume on live when I7 comes out. Was really NICE. with cape added and second costume set, I went back in an really felt like I was an important contributor. Best moment of the night was successfully getting a stacked Hold on Black Widow. (my EMP and ICE arrow, combined with a teammates Bitter Freeze Ray and another teammate's Gravity Distortion), whereupon I debuffed the heck out of her (disruption, acid, poison gas) and turned her into a pincushion.
My build was as a Natural TA/A defender, taking every power except flash arrow and stunning arrow, replacing them with Aid other and Aid Self, with Combat Jumping and Superleap as my travel powers. If I was to do it again, I'd probably drop explosive and keep Stunning.
Most things were 3-slotted with their most useful bonuses (attacks wree always 3-slotted with damage), with a few exceptions: some of teh exceptions are below
Aid Self and Aid Other were slotted with 3 Heals and 1 Interrupt reduction.
Oil Slick was 6 slotted with 3 Damage, 1 recharge, and 2 defense debuff
Glue was 6 slotted with 3 Slow and 3 Recharge....it was nice to have Glue practically perma.
Fistful was slotted with 3 range and 3 damage
Explosive was 3 slotted with 1 damage and 2 knockback.
Blazing Arrow had 3 damage and 1 ACC (but I still missed the slick 2 times in a row fighting Rikti in my cape mission), as did Ranged Shot.
Superleap was only slotted with 2 Jumping, but Sprint was also slotted with a Jump, so I was pretty close to max.
Inspirations are hard to come by, so I've not been using them. -
New MM Bug
Just noticed it happening today, but when my thugs fire, their guns vanish so that it looks liek they just squeeze their fists to fire. It then goes through with the redraw animation after every shot. MINE aren't going away, just the thugs' guns -
Didn't get into Siren's myself (only lvl 9), but I did manage to Solo a Mission full of lvl 10 Skullz at lvl 9. Something that would have been impossible before.

How does everyone feel about getting together Wednesday night for some testing? Say, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. EST? That should give any west-coasters time to get home, and still be early enough for those of us on the east coast. Yesno? Noyes? Fishinpinktutus?
[/ QUOTE ]
Fishinpinktutus!
Sure, Trickshooter can be there.
P.S. Oil Slick Arrow is still not lighting everytime with this latest patch, though I'm not sure if it's supposed to, the patch notes seem to suggest simply a higher chance of it.

I'm here now with Kyudo Kat (my lowbie TA/A -- lvl 9) where are you guys? -

I mean come on...what would Manticore say about this
[/ QUOTE ]
Nothing. Manticore's an Archery/TA blaster.
[/ QUOTE ]
If he's an Archery/TA blaster, then he has exactly the power set I want, and have wanted since before I ever heard of CoH, gimped or not. :-)
NO MORE EXCUSES, DEVS! :-D
[/ QUOTE ]
I saw him at the Anniversary Party, Manticore is an Archery/TA Giant Monster (which explains why he can do things we cant, He's a lvl 56 character!) -
Problem:

A policeman looking for a particualr member of a gang may NOT go out and brutalize all gang memebrs he finds until one talks. Not in our country. Not legally.

just one telling quote in this discussion. Paragon City isn't a modern USA city. Its a modern, Silver-Age-like COMIC BOOK city.
In comic books, for over 70 years, thats what comics characters do. They were born in the era when police looked helpless before mobsters and gangsters, in the depression. Vigilanteism is a crime in the real world, but this isn't the real world, its a comic book world.
I think the OP is having trouble accepting the basic precepts of a comic book world. Some of the problem of 'seeming to attack people' comes from the MMO nature of the game. It might be better if you just wandered around until you found a crime in progress, but MMOs always have semi-random spawns of 'monsters' ('mobs' in CoX) to fight. MMOS are about fighting. -

I see this best implemented as a specific type of arena match. Superpowered soccer! A goal on each end of a large flat arena, with teams trying to KB/push the ball into the opposing team's goal. The ball should be affected my most powers, such as TP foe, inertial dampening, AOE debuffs, etc. To make it fair though, the ball might have to be immune to force bubble- otherwise you just park your FF defender as goalie and watch the opposing team cry. And the ball should have very low, or even negative KB resistance so that even powers without a KB component would send flying back in the direction of the hit. This is such a 5-star, huge fun idea! I don't know why it hasn't been suggested before!
Of course, the OP is right that just having a big red bouncy ball to play with in zones would be fun too, but I really se it taking off as an arena event. Perhaps it could even lure people back to the almost deserted arenas! I'd want one in Pocket D too- that way griefers would have fewer places they could "hide" the ball to deny others fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
a thought as a modification on th Big Red Ball:
Many CoH zones have Basketball courts (Kings Row, Skyway, and Steel in particular). Why not a mini-game of basketball with the big red ball? -
are there changes to it? no post on it other than this one

Where does the term "hammer space" come from? I understand the gist but I've never heard that expression before.
-mb
[/ QUOTE ]
It comes from the ability of Anime girls to, out of nowhere, summon a hammer to whack their wayward boyfriends with.
Hammerspace is notional place all those hammers are stored. Its also where Bugs Bunny gets anvils to drop on Elmer, where the Highlander keeps his sword, ad so on. -

Now, Accuracy. This is a major point that needs to be looked at for Archery and Trick Arrow. Archer heroes should NOT miss. Shooting an arrow a large thug from 10' away and missing is not... NOT... what a heroic archer does. Heck, junior high school girls in gym class can make that kind of shot with a bow consistantly. A heroic archer makes that shot even if he/she was standing on a leevy in New Orleans during Katrina. Unless some major forces are acting upon the archer in question, such as a supervillain's powers for defense, etc; a miss should be a rarity for the Archery hero. Can anyone see a way I am wrong on this point?
[/ QUOTE ]
When you miss, that's exactly what happened!
as for animations, I think they could all be speeded up. en Snap shot goes off slower than the 2nd power of most blaster sets.
I like the idea of firing on the move as an archery skill, for everything, or everything but snipe.. Should be fore Trick Arrow too.
in trick arrow: Flash arrow needs to be a little bit better off the bat. I shouldn't hav eto stack two flashes to provide a singlifican miss chance. Glue arrow is amazingly slow for what you get for it. yes the area is very large -- about the size of the rain of fire/ice storm slows. But it doesn't do damage, and recycles in twice the time they do. My Ice Blaster can drop an average of 1 ice storm a fight, my TA/Archery defender gets to do Glue only once every other fight.
I haven't gotetn up high enough to see what other powers are like, but you've seen them here.
if and when customized powers comes about, I'd like to see the archery sets get a longbow (what it has now), Crossbow, and Japanese style bow (where you hold it 1/3 from the bottom instead of in the center....but thats an I8, I9 maybe I10 issue
