You owned an Amiga 500
[/ QUOTE ]
The 500 was actually the 2nd Amiga to come out...the original was the Amiga 1000, and I bought that one as my 2nd comp after the TI-99/4A (see my previous post - wow, 16K RAM!).
At least that one had a built-in floppy drive, but no hard drive. I bought the external floppy drive as well, and had some killer boot disks that I created using programs that compacted other programs so they'd all fit on the one disk.... Man it hurt when one of those disks went bad!

amiga 1000 FTW!!! with external attached 1MB memory block.
with a bunch of wires and the switch our external disk drive became the bootable drive!!
soldering an IDE controller in because the damn things were impossible to get in holland.!!!
the days of XCOPY!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep it's Shizaru for the win, with Tooter the Turtle and Mr. Wizard. I believe that they were a part of 'Fractured Fairytales'
and came out around the time of Rocky and Bullwinkle. But I could be wrong. The point is, that you have revealed yourself as being excruciatingly ancient. Much like myself.

I know that. But the 500 was the first of the Amigas to sell a somewhat large number of units. The 1000 and it's Kickstart disk were somewhat a part of computer history that Commodore tried to erase. Now here is a bit of trivia about the 1000. If you opened it up, it had the signatures of the whole developer's team (plus Jay Miners dog) embossed on the lid.
I personally own a 2500, which was the first "accelerated" Amiaga and the first one to come with an HD. I used to do visuals for Rave parties with it in the 90's and could actualy do a 12+ hour show with a 20 Megs HD and a whopping 3 megs of RAM.
Deluxe Paint IV lives!!!
Heh - at 28 I'm not exacly ancient, but I remember large proportions of the cartoons and games from this thread.
Spent many an evening on my Atari 2600 and my Toshiba MSX (anybody else heard of them?) before I upgraded to a Spectrum 128k +2. Ooooooooooh :P
Since I'm English, my entertainment memories are probably slightly different from the rest of you - but I remember Hong Kong Fooey, Topcat, Batfink, Muppets, Fraggles, Battle of the Planets, et al.
In fact, I have a massive thing for old-style childrens cartoons. So far I have Battle of the Planets, Dungeons & Dragons (the cartoon), Dogtanian and Spider-man on DVD, plus Ulysesse 31 on video CD. I also have the theme tunes for Cities of Gold, Around the World in 80 days (with the lion as Willie Fog), Telebugs, Thundercats, SuperTed, Inspector Gadget, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Mask and Lonestar, among others.
Oh, and I have the remnants (unfortunately) of the original models of the red car and APC from Captain Scarlett. Oh, and an Interceptor from UFO. And a couple of TV annuals from the late 70's too.
Man I love this stuff
I used to have superhuman powers, but my therapist took them away...

Dragon's Lair, that's what I was trying to think of so many posts ago. Why is it so easy to recall half the name but not the full name, dang it.
You wanted to be Rock-1 Growing up
Or you vehemently defended that bumblee was NOT useless
You have every early-late seventies, eighty's and early 90's cartoon theme, on cdr, and you listen to them while driving.
(Or you sing them with friends just as old as you, nothing's funnier than a bunch of people going out and going "Bionics On, Rock-1!" xD).
Just wanted to thank Q_Arkhan for sending me the link to the old Tandy game I used to play called Dungeons of Dagorath, that I talked about previously. I've also got a few more old things to add:
-if you saw The Holy Grail in the theater
-I know its not that old, but I loved Master of Orion (the first one), almost flunked me out of college.
-spent hours trying to make that damn robot that came out with the first Nintendos work correctly
-played the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy text game on an old Apple
-talking my fellow classmates in 4th grade to stay in at recess and play D&D (got a feeling we didn't stick to the rules to well
Thats all for now, can't think of anything else.
Not sure if this stuff has been mentioned but here goes
When You could steer the ball on Atari 4 on 4 Football and throw the ball end zone to end zone doing it
When a good game of Combat with bouncing cannon shots off walls was the highlight of your gaming day
When Tapper was a brand new game in the Arcade..
When paying 50 cents for one game of anything was outrageous
When Zaxxon was the first truly 3D game
When "flipping" a game was pretty much the Ultimate
When games didnt have some kind of timer counting down the entire time begging you to feed it quarters
When you could actually beat a game on 1 Quarter
When PVP meant Putting your quarter up and getting in line at Karate Champ
When the Coolest thing you got for Christmas was a roll of quarters and you thought to yourself...thats Video games for a month!
WhenYou had to use the Intellivision Number pad to play a game
When you couldnt play Dragons Lair on your DVD player at home
When Video Bo Jackson was the greatest Football player of all time
When you knew the first 20 Bonus boards of Galaga By heart.
When Tempest was a brand new game..and it was cool
The first time you heard "Red five Standing Bye" on a video game and smiled
When you would get knocked out by Mike Tyson and he was actually the "Baddest Man on the Planet"
When you would use a pencil to break world records on Track and Field but could never do the damn Hammer Throw
When you "Gold back" the skateboard on 720
Ahhh...the golden age of gaming.
Not so old but probably forgotten..When NBA jam came out and as long as you played 2 on 2 and won you got your next game free...i still think i could have won a world title at that game..no lie
I was a pro at Pong (my brother and I were the envy of the neighbourhood for having that.)
We also had one of the first PCs that came out - a TI Sinclair? (I think?) - it was high tech at the time.
And the only remote we had in the house was my dad yelling at me to change the channel (I think we had 4 or 5 to choose from).

Well, I'd like my 5 points pls. My younger brother (6 yrs younger) was a huge fan of the Tomorrow People.
And as such, once again I know I'm an old gamer...
Heck, long long ago I could make the Dr. Who fans mad by implying that their show was just the Tomorrow People with a _little_ bit more budget... *ducks*

Never....insult...THE DOCTOR!

You read Lord of the Rings, and Dune, and a thousand other books, just for the love of reading them, not because you'd already seen the movie. You also did not NOT read a book "because you'd already seen the movie".

:P I'm only 19 and I've read all those books just to read them, of course I love to read so that could be why.
I tend to enjoy teaming with people older than me since I don't have to listen to my peers talk in butchered english and slang that I have no intrest in hearing.
It's fun looking at all this stuff and seeing what I recognize.
If you see me running, well, you know I've done something stupid again. Self preservation means you should be running as well.
I knew I wouldn't get my five points...
But have you seen _the_ doctor in a Sinbad movie? (Golden Voyage in this case) My dad took me to all 3 of the Harryhausen Sinbads in the theater. Wasn't until years later I realized it was the doc. Tommy plays a great villain.
And once again, the old gamer thread comes back to haunt me...

Actually, I made a big booboo on the shuttles and couldn't get back to edit the post. D'oh!
Enterprise (Atmospheric testing only, prototype...wonder if it's in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum?)
Columbia (R.I.P.)
Challenger (R.I.P)
Atlantis
Discovery
Endeavor
(In no particular order.)
Someone once told me that the destruction of the Challenger is a generational hallmark. If you were old enough to remember it, you were on one side of a generational divide, and if you couldn't, you were on the other side. Dunno if that's true, but I can sure tell you where I was when it got destroyed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was gonna mention Challenger when I posted, but I remebered the other 4 first...then I went back to trying to remember the name of the game I mentioned and basically forgot. I am unsure if the Enterprise is in any of the museums or not, haven't heard of anything since It was first tested..
[/ QUOTE ]
I am pretty sure the Enterprise is run as an exhibit by the Smithsonian, it is not on the mall, but at a seperate facility.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you mean the Starship Enterprise from TV it is in the National Air and Space Museum.
