    the paragon times could be used for a lot more then just new stuff contentwise.
  2. That power where you change into lightning and tp?
    whatever the name is??

    It should be changed to the camera stays in place while you do that.. i tried this on test yesterday and it's a pain in the but to see IF and WHAT you hit..

    also it would be nice to be able to select an enemy and just zoom his way and whatever is behind it.. this tp targeting is pretty prone to missing and without making a bind it sucks complete [censored]
  3. Most "home" firewalls won't be a problem, things like kerio and norton will just ask if it's ok to connect to the coh servers.. the windows firewall might need a port opened but i don't think so because you're initiating the communication yourself.

    The firewall on my router didn't make any problems either.

    If you want help you might want to tell us the name and type of the firewall and what symptons you have.

    You also might want to close this thread and as again in the tech forums.

    The 500 was actually the 2nd Amiga to come out...the original was the Amiga 1000, and I bought that one as my 2nd comp after the TI-99/4A (see my previous post - wow, 16K RAM!).

    At least that one had a built-in floppy drive, but no hard drive. I bought the external floppy drive as well, and had some killer boot disks that I created using programs that compacted other programs so they'd all fit on the one disk.... Man it hurt when one of those disks went bad!

    amiga 1000 FTW!!! with external attached 1MB memory block.
    with a bunch of wires and the switch our external disk drive became the bootable drive!!

    soldering an IDE controller in because the damn things were impossible to get in holland.!!!

    Either don't publish it and let us find out and we'll see it on the boards, or put it in some place that we ALL can see without paying even more than our monthly fee.

    I never bought strategy guides for any game and i'm not going to start now.
  6. Reading this thread i'm actually wondering..
    Are there really buggy blasters powers? I think not much..

    Are there balance issues?
    Yes i think so for arrows, AR, fire secondary...

    Are there concept problems?
    Very much so, defiance, the function of blaster secondaries.
    A very anoying gameplay when solo or in PUGs.

    Even more we have been yelling the secondaries are flawed since what.. I3 I4? earlier?
    and nothing is done..
    An inherent power that did nothing to solve the problem was added.
    we got a bit more hit points, well let me tell you those hp don't matter.
    defense in epics? or resistance for that matter.. yeah very nice. if not every group at that level would have a mezzer in it.

    Although a power that roots like flares can be a pain, the functionallity of the nukes can be questionable and opinions are widespread, i would personally like a reevaluation of blaster in general, what their role is and how the powers fit in.

    On GOOD teams a blaster does a lot of damage but in all other situations a scrapper outshines a blaster a lot.
    In solo EVERYTHING except some defender builds are better than blasters. (yes i think defenders deserve help too).


    I agree with blasters having no defense, but i think the secondaries should become more equal (loose al but one of the PBAoE's from the fire secondaries, put in something usefull).
    And, at LEAST for solo play.. PLEASE let us have some resistance against mezzes..
    i'd offer up a power for this without thinking but my tray can only keep so much breakfrees..
  7. For the wishlist..
    We have nice primaries and the secondarys need more work..
    But i would like to see rad on blasters.
    Or even dark.. (though for dark to work as a blaster set the animation times could use a bit of a speedup)

    I'd also be VERY interested to see a secondary on both.
    Ofcourse we'd have to cut out most of the defender powers but for instance dark melee has a lot of nice utility that would make a blasters life a lot more pleasant.

    And i'm sure i could come up with a nice rad secondary also.
    Though there would'nt be much of a mitigating effect except new ones we invent..


    Also maybe it's interesting to look at the keld nova forms compared to blasters.. we are a lot like the nova forms though a bit less squishy (a BIT) but when kelds get into trouble they switch to human and heal and have shields or even go to dwarf form that'll rescue your live a LOT of the times and at least give you an option to run..

    Maybe blasters need a clicky that partially phases or shields or speeds up as the OMG have to runaway? or loose agro or..
    just throwing idears here now..
  8. Inferno is a killing machine.
    For the user.

    Ice and energy have a mitigating effect in them, slow and knockback, so you might be able to get away with using them.
    AR is ranged so you're in less danger.. just a little but the range will give you a better chance to run.

    With inferno everything that's left standing will beat you down so fast you can't blink twice.

    But the nukes in general are skipped by players in their current state. as a fight finisher they're generally useless. Either your health is too low to go in or there aren't enough mobs left standing and the nuke isn't needed to finish the fight.
    let alone if there are mezzers in the group.
    The only possible use of nukes in in teams and even then it'll usually kill you..
    Talking about desperation powers.

    I would suggest to find a way to make the nukes more survivable. a temp speedboost so you can run.. a very short high def or a disorient or fear effect for mobs or something.
    I mean if someone makes a big blow like that near me i know i'm running! (the same argument that got burn the fear component you're not going to stay in or near that)

    I like to use my nuke, i really do.. but it just kills me too often on a lot of teams especially with the nasty new drop.

    Very true.. sadly probably none of that data was saved in a way that makes is possible to get back easily or to search easily so we'll do it again..

    Aside from my earlier post,
    what kind of problems are we looking at? truly bugs? or game breaking things? or flaws in the concept? or why blasters are frustrating or?
    I mean honestly i could care less about the /fire secondary if the game gets less frustrating for blasters.

    At the higher levels defiance only becomes usefull if any blaster who wants to survive is running or yelling for a heal.

    QoL:
    Now this is more criticisism on the general design of blasters

    The no mez protection makes for VERY frustrating play and it's impossible to play on anything over heroic due to the huge ammount of mez powers of mobs. a full tray of breakfrees won't get you through the mission.
    The good side: it forces blasters to use tactics or rather certain powers like snipes and own mezzes to put those units out of the fight.
    another note, teaming with an emp defender makes a blaster on heroic unstoppable.
    Maybe there's a way to find a middle road?


    A lot of time when you're teaming a blaster can't go all out because of aggro management. just one wrong timed fireball will mean quick death and a tank wondering where all the mobs went. good tanks avoid this.. but it's not the norm.


    Fire secondary needs work.. BUT
    in PvE it's completely worthless..
    for PvP there actually are a few usefull powers like hot feet in there. It's a long time ago that i played my fire/fire blaster.
    The thing that other secondaries have is a lot more utility and damage mitigation in their secondary.. from everything from slows to end drain to knockback.
    Most /fire power just draw more aggro and don't stop any damage coming in.
    I'd vote for a bit more utility in here other than DoT

    Does this go for all powers that give defense or just ice tankers and SR scrappers?

    What about the stalkers and brute defense based sets?
    bubbles?
    weave?
    etc

  15. Or just go the easy way and all but one logg off, the one left stealths to the vines room and stays there while the others make their way there..

    voila, less vines and some ganking will give you a chance to have at the tree..

    It's not as intended, and may be less fun but it WILL mean you'll be able to do the respec trial with almost any group.

    Most of the plans i've seen for the trial and SF's exclude stalkers.
    I'm anoyed at this, stalkers are blasters that don't need as much babysitting. A good stalker will certainly be doing huge amounts of damage so don't discount them.

    (blasters do their damage from far and don't have defense,
    stalkers go in, and have defense, can't be held and will mitigate damage they recieve. my regen can scrap it out with 6 equal lvl villains or 3-4 +1s without even clicking IH and that's not counting what i can AS)
  16. I just started a nrg/nrg build too and i'm not really sure if i want to go the melee or distance way attack wise,
    in my current planned build i don't have much melee attacks simply because all the posibilities that ranged offense offers but i might change that to have more melee "defense"

    Also you might want to consider a 6 slotted hover after you get stamina.

    It's not the most important power but it really helps you manage the direction of you knockback attacks or even attack from above and just knock down the mobs and keep them near the tank.
  17. It is true that especially tanks tone down the risk for teams so much that some missions can't be done without a tank.

    But with my blaster i don't have too big problems soloing door missions on heroic or tenacious.
    the problem comes when i have to hunt 50 malta/carnies in PI or like now i have to go into the rikti crash site and hunt 50 of them.

    Well sorry but if teams with 1-2 bosses and 3-4 lt's spawn i cannot beat them.
    and did you ever try to find a team to go into the crash site?
    good luck to you.. i'll be sniping the lowest minion i can find and then running back like a screaming girl to the entrance of the zone and let the police drones deal with the mobs following me.

    (and even that got me into so much debt it just wasn't funny anymore)

    Exemplar Aggro

    i finally finished the positron TF last night and if any i'd say i aggro'd a bit less than i'm used to now.

    but then i had a good tanker with me.

    I've been dropped out of a great TF team when i was exemped on the server down a few days ago and i was really anoyed by it..
    but after doing positron i got out of the 230k debt i earned killing 50 malta so meh...

    The hardest part about exemping is that you can never leave your pc for the duration of the tf normally i have breaks now and then or with a 4 hours TF i might even want to continue the next day..
    but oh well.

  20. yesterday this background story popped in my head for a toon:

    it begins with a normal guy, in his 50ies/60ies, teaching various forms of martial arts (nowhere on a superhero level mind you).

    One day when he walks home after work he spots a girl being attacked by clockwork and he tried to rescue her. (a paragon citizen pff he should've known better).
    Ofcourse he fails utterly being nowhere on the power scale of levels as we know them.

    The clockwork don't kill him but take him to one of their labs and start experiments on him. after weeks of torture and medication they even replace an arm and leg with robot parts.

    After a few failures of this the clockwork proceed to incorporate a power source in his body and replace numerous internal organs.

    When he awakes after yet another gruelling operation he hears blasts and fighting and a group of heroes come bashing down the door rescueing him.

    The heroes help him stay sane and himself learning him to move around with his new limbs and organs but he lost his skill at martial arts.. the new limbs just won't work like his own.

    After months and months of depression the girl he tried to rescue finds him. it turns out she got away and the clockwork were after her for longer. This gives him new resolve and he
    starts training again.
    It turns out though the limbs and organs work differently they are much stronger than normal steel and somehow the power core in him empowers him beyond normal human strengt, even strengtening and fastening his blows and movement.

    a new hero is born in paragon city....




    Now i'm planning to make him old looking, grey, not too large a scarred man. displaying various robotical parts on him aside from the leg and arm a bit depending on what is possible.
    i'll vary the arm and leg with true robot ones or even armour over the four costumes to reflect the changes he'll make to his limbs and his growth in stength over the levels.
    (progressive costumes really complete a story for a hero)


    but now the questions.... i need a name...
    and what would you guys thing a fitting AT and powersets?
    i only played a blaster up untill now and i'm not too much at home in the other powersets to suit such a specific story.
