But have you seen _the_ doctor in a Sinbad movie? (Golden Voyage in this case) My dad took me to all 3 of the Harryhausen Sinbads in the theater. Wasn't until years later I realized it was the doc. Tommy plays a great villain.

And once again, the old gamer thread comes back to haunt me...

When to you, The Doctor was John Pertwee, and not Tom Baker. (ok, I'm just waiting for someone to say The Dcotor was Patrick Troughton or even worse, William Hartnell)

. . . your favorite game for that PC was Crush, Crumble & Chomp. (Does anyone else think we need an movie monster MMOG?)

[/ QUOTE ]

Crush, Crumble and Chomp was one of the coolest (mintest?) games availble during the 80s. I'm not sure how well a Movie Monster MMO would work, but done right it would be the niftyest thing since PopRocks.

However, there is hope for those of us craving some GiantRampagingMonsterDestruction(tm).
Octopus Motors are currently (still) working on something that looks like a worthy successor to CC&C. *crosses fingers*

Puh-lease. I have yet to see this thread refer to the original Superfriends sidekicks: Wendy, Marvin and Wonderdog!

Feel old? About a year ago. Hollows. Frostfire mish. The guy who's mish it was played pretty competently, but didn't say much. about 1/2-3/4 of the way through he says "Hurry please." Five minutes later we pause for end break and he again says "Hurry please." I send him a tell asking what's wrong and he replies, "My mom keeps telling me me to brush my teeth and go to bed and I've been trying to finish this mission for soooo long."

I told him to go brush his teeth and that I would tp him along with the group until we got to the final battle and make sure the team waited for him. I also sent a tell to him (to his mom) asking her to give him 10 more minutes and explaining how "important" this mission was.

or perhaps even defending that the "The Thing" with Kenneth Tobey, was of higher caliber than Kurt Russell's version...

A big kudos to you for being so nice. So often we see stories like this, that are just complaining about the youngster having to quit. "Why start a mission when you know you are going to have to leave" and other assorted stuff. That kid probably appreciated the heck out of it.

I pretty much enjoyed Pertwee through McCoy, having Davidson as my personal favorite. While not my favorite, I did enjoy Colin Baker. I am also enjoying the new series that is currently being shown on Sci-Fi, and am extremely happy that the good Doctor is back.

I agree; but, I'm just passing this along- I heard a while back that he actually is a very good actor if you see him in his other stuff, or the Dr. radio shows he's done. Supposedly the powers-that-be during his reign were %^%^% who didn't understand how to do Dr. Who.

I still have the boxed set.

Some time after GDW folded, the main designer of Traveller started it up again as a world set for GURPS. You might want to check it out.

OMG! people do remember the show... you don't know how many people gave me strange looks when i described the show to them (even my parents who know i used to watch it religiously when it aired on PBS)... I found the first 3 "seasons" (more like story arcs.. too short for seasons) on DVD... i still think it's an amazing show to have been done in the 70's. I hope they put the rest out (i've seen web sites that show more than 3 story arcs)

None of them could compare to Shockwave and Jetfire

You know your and old gamer when..........

You remeber Tron as being state of the art movie magic.

You rember G.I.Joe being 8 inches tall and not 4 inches.

You where excited the day you upgraded from a Vic 20 to a Commodore 64.

You remember debating on whether you should buy beta or VHS.

You remember standing in line to see Star Wars on its orginal release.

You where to scared to go swimming at the beach after seeing Jaws at the theater.

You remember coming home to find your mother crying, because Elvis had been found dead.

You remember the shock of hearing that John Lennon had been shot and killed.

If you remember when the only live action Spiderman was a cheesy 70's show.

If you remember when a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am was the coolest car on the planet.

If you remeber when AIDS was a "[censored]" disease.

And my personal favorite, if your little girl has ever walked up to you with a record and asked why this CD is so big.

.... if you remember when bell bottoms were cool the first time around.

.... if you have no clue what people mean when they use obscure acronyms like FTW, ROFL, LOL.....etc. (I only know one of these myself)

... if you are ready to quit playing because you need to spend time with your wife and your teammates keep telling you to "put off your homework until tomorrow morning".
