A confidential informant, Julius the Troll [BLACKED OUT], has indicated this but been unable to provide concrete evidence. The same informant has indicated Atta occasionally deals with the organized crime

Looks like Wincott put the monster bone to Julius the Dead Pigeon. Nice.
I was under the impression that the 'Gardvord' sentence was another tangent than the rank assessment, explaining a different kind of Troll other than just 'mutated super strength brute.'
Very cool article. Didn't know ALL of that.
OK, after reading that I'm even more convinced:
Trolls need to use the Gargantuan Male build! At least the bosses should. The description "bulge with oversized muscles" does not fit the trolls ingame. Except for the Supa Trolls obviously.
Gotta slot more Acc than a TO in black marker there, Wincott.

Good story Arctic_Sun!

Trolls believe strongly in survival of the fittest. The junior members are known respectively as Trollkin, Jutal, Ogre, and Caliban. The highest ranking Trolls have mutated into grotesque abominations they have horns, bulge with oversized muscles, and are relatively sexless; these are called Gardvord.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice article, but the last sentance in this quote just kills it. What a copout! Not having female Troll models in-game is one thing, but to turn around and try to say that some of the Gardvords are former females....Lame excuse. Very lame. Are you going to explain that some CoT Mages are really females too? Maybe the Skulls are crossdressing too?
Pffft. Stop being lazy and get some female baddies for the groups that are missing them. Yes. I know there are female baddies. Carnies, Crey Agents, Vahz Eidolons...but diversify!

Superadine is called Supes in the background web pages and Dyne in game. The only reference to "Supes" I've seen in-game is scrawled on the wall in the Skull Drug Lab map.
The Seeker of Monsters badge says Atta defeated Grendel. While it doesn't say that he killed him, it's hard to imagine Atta still being around if Grendel isn't dead, especially if Grendel is an AV.

Ask Daredevil or Batman how scary a thinking Brute can be. (Kingpin and/or Bane, anyone?) Personally, I think it'd be neat to see dynamic gang wars in the city--one day, the Outcasts control Cherry Hills; the next, it goes back to the Trolls. Having a schism in Troll leadership, where Atta gets slapped back down to his place, would be neat too.
Personally, when I fought Atta in-game, I was disappointed with how small he was, though...

I loved the Atta mission, if only because I took it with a team of 2 blasters, a fire/fire tank, and a dark/dark defender. We had so many stacked aoe's that the whole group died within seconds!
Mad xp, very reasonable risk.
That said, I didn't know that Grendel was smart. Where is this info in the game?

And if that happened, who would be #1 with a bullet on Grendel's Tear Off Their Heads list?

Old school NARCs still call it Supes, as opposed to the "kids" on the street, who call it Dyne (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it).

And HolyEvilAoD's comments about Atta's parole are spot on.

PS Excellent that some of you got the Bloody Mary reference.
Aren't the biggest rolls colloquially called "Supa Trolls?" Just wondering. At any rate, this article has inspired me to Go Hunt. Kill Trols.

FWIW, "Gardvord" is Swedish for "farmer's gnome."
The Gardvord's smaller cousin, the tomte, comes out every year at Christmas; he's a little elf man with a red or grey hoodie on with a tall conical stocking cap. The Gardvord is the tomte's bigger cousin; he worked the fields in the farms originally, and guarded them against the trolls, who were in fact more malevolent. The Gardvord was essentially benign, but often had to be appeased with gifts of food, and would become destructive if not bought off.

If Atta's as smart as he is supposed to be, then upon defeating Grendel, wouldn't it be a smart idea to lock the [censored] up, so he can't come back for revenge? That is, if Atta didn't kill him outright.

I think the trick is that once atta beat grendel, he threw hsi battered and broken body into a deep hole in the troll caves feeling the matter closed. being a troll and more prone to action then rational thought he forgot a staple of troll powers through out history.

[ QUOTE ]
The article has some factual mistakes in it. Gardvord are only Lieutenant class Trolls. Ogres and Caliban are Boss class Trolls. In the article it says that the Gardvords are the highest ranking Trolls, which is counter to what the in-game information says.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or, it could be that, while the Calibans and Ogres are statistically stronger and Boss-class to reflect that, they don't make the best leaders, due to their physical advancement at the cost of Superadine-inhibited mental ability. Therefore, the Gardvord's, while not stronger and functioning apparently contrary to the notion of "stronger trolls = higher ranking trolls", it could be a concession to the idea they're more level-headed and better at organizing their groups.
Caliban: "Me STRONG! ME GREAT LEADER OF GROUP!"
Gardvord: "Yes. Yes you are. Just give minute to talk with others, I tell them how strong you are. Strong leader."
Caliban: "Yes! ME STRONG!!" *Walks off.*
Gardvord: "....Right. So, you get bombs, we remind Caliban later it was his idea because he smartest, strongest leader."
Not the best explanation, but you could always justify most anything with the right contrivances... And I haven't read the fiction rest of the thread yet, maybe it's been 'corrected' or explained...
[ QUOTE ]
In addition, I've never heard Superadine being refered to as "Supes". Normally, it is shortened to "Dyne" in the in-game NPC text.
[/ QUOTE ]
I first encountered it as graffiti in an early Superadine lab mission; I just thought it was some kind of knowing reference to Superman, or somesuch. I felt rather silly when I later heard it as another nickname for Dyne, but, yes, it is much less used.

Though, since it's street slang, both are probably right. I mean, real street drugs have so many different names, why can't the fictional ones?
[/ QUOTE ]
True. Especially since the guys on the street call it Dyne, while the people in power call it Supes. It mimics the way real drug slang often changes... Though Supes sounds somewhat lame to me.
[ QUOTE ]
How on earth did Atta get parole???
[/ QUOTE ]
His first bust was on possession, his second was on distributing. His distributing was probably small time, as he hadn't joined up with the Trolls at that time. It wasn't until after he got out and became a full fledged Troll that he became the villain he is today.
