Trolls. The very word conjures an image of mythic monsters from Scandinavia. No gang is more feared in the Hollows than the Trolls of Paragon City. They are the “boogie men” that parents use to frighten their children away from the temptation of drugs and life on the street. Read More.

At first glance I thought a Dev had actually lost it, and was getting tired of all the Troll-like Posts.

Yeah, after reading through all of the **OFFICIAL This Game Has Been HACKED THREAD** thread, I had the same thought.

I don't get it, Why would a redname start a post with a link to the history of Trolls in Paragon City? Something is a foot.

I'm disappointed, Arctic_Sun.

How come you don't explain what happened to their long, wild colored hair and the gems in their bellybutton? I've been playing the game since release, and will not rest until I have these answers!

This is part of a regular series of articles with the City of Heroes backstory that features a villainous group.

It was by coincidence that the Troll article appeared at the same time of an incursion of the internet type of troll on these boards.

Sad thing is, so did I.

EDIT: Liked the story, Arctic, but why are the Gardvords higher in rank than the Ogres/Calibans? The latter ARE 'boss' class, after all.

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

I thought Gardvords were just LTs and Ogres and Calibans were the bosses....

The article has some factual mistakes in it. Gardvord are only Lieutenant class Trolls. Ogres and Caliban are Boss class Trolls. In the article it says that the Gardvords are the highest ranking Trolls, which is counter to what the in-game information says.

In addition, I've never heard Superadine being refered to as "Supes". Normally, it is shortened to "Dyne" in the in-game NPC text.

But, otherwise, good article.

I swear, I am loving these police sheets on the elite bosses.

Yeah, they are. I just checked in-game just now.

Despite that little mistake, it still was pretty interesting. I'm particularly interested in the Troll Arch-Villain that's hinted at in Atta's file. Could that be Grendel, who we've heard the Trolls talking about but have never seen?

Well whoever it is, I'd love to meet 'im in game. Grendel sounds likely.

And I'm also loving the police files on the Elite Bosses. Pure storyline gold!

Grendal is supposed to be dead. Atta killed him with his bare hands in the middle of the Glutch to finalize his control over the trolls.

Yea there's an exploration badge or a history plaque with that on it right? I always thought that was lame. Grendel sounds much more badass than Atta.

Just wait until you meet Grendel's mother

Joking aside, I don't remeber Grendel's fate being specifically mentioned, but it's been a long time since I last read the history plaques in the hollows, but I do recall hearing somewhere that Atta indeed did wrestle control of the Trolls from it.

Ok that's just awesome.

If the AV isn't Grendel's Mom I will be extremely disappointed. Let's do the Beowulf thing all the way!

Pretty sure I've heard Trolls call it Supes before.. along with various others. Can't remember specifics though

"miami's Bloody Mary"

Whats that about? Never heard of it...

Superadine is called Supes in the background web pages and Dyne in game. The only reference to "Supes" I've seen in-game is scrawled on the wall in the Skull Drug Lab map.

The Seeker of Monsters badge says Atta defeated Grendel. While it doesn't say that he killed him, it's hard to imagine Atta still being around if Grendel isn't dead, especially if Grendel is an AV.

Though, since it's street slang, both are probably right. I mean, real street drugs have so many different names, why can't the fictional ones?

How on earth did Atta get parole???
