Slot machine contact...wth were the devs thinking?

Ok, I like the idea of unlockable contacts. But this one needs fixing. So you need 200 family bosses to unlock this one. Where do we find Family bosses in mass outside of a mission? NE ST. Martial is were you find these guys. But guess what? The lowest boss you'll find is lvl 36. Which means you'll need a team around that lvl to farm them, b/c they run from lvl 36-40. This would be fine but the catch is this. The contact WONT talk to you if your lvl 35 or above!

So now this means you've got to find ppl lvl 36+ willing to take a break from sweet mission xp bonus to farm a badge that wont work for them, to kill 200 bosses. Why dont you devs do us the favor and allow ppl lvl 35-40 to do this content. Its a pain enough farming this badge, but then to deprive us too, come on.

They are in Sharkhead too. Like level 20, near the containers by the port area.

They are also all over Port Oakes, real low levels. That is how I got mine.

Gangbuster Badge requires Marcone bosses. The best place I found was around the Marconeville area of Port Oakes. I think my count was near 150 when I finally got the badge.

Well I did try there, but they dont seem as preveilant out there compared to ST. M.

try to team.

The spawns in the zones are dynamic, the more people on a team that triggers one the greater the chnace of a boss in the spawn.

I agree with the original poster.

Hunting tons of grays is pretty lousy. Asking higher levels to SK you up and hunt certain guys is only a step away from power leveling.

It's just not a badge that makes sense. If you were told about it when you were in the Sharkhead level range, that would be one thing. To only find out about it when you have a choice of hunting grays or asking friends to street hunt for you, that's not well implemented.

Is the OP correct in saying Slot machine won't talk to you if you are 35 or higher?

I just got this badge, and can't get the contact. Ian the Shark won't give me any new contacts, and I'm lvl 33.

So can anybody who has done the Slot Machine missions recently confirm the lvl range? is it 30-35 or 35-40? If it's 30-35, how do I 'activate it'? I have the badge.

There was a - surprise - bug. I could only get 2 contacts from Ian too.. But that was fixed in a patch from a week or so ago. Just do the paper series agin and he should send you to someone. Chances are though you have outleveled the stuff anyway.

I can tell you taht at level 38 the slot machine would not speak to me so it has to be in the 35-36 cut-off range.

i think this game could be so much more enjoyable if they would just remove level caps all together. I mean doesnt it say something when a lot of people are intentionally getting debt so they dont miss crap.

If you have to spend 2 hours of boooooooring playtime hunting greys to get a contact, then this seriously needs to be fixed. What could possibly be the rationale behind forcing players to do this? In what way is this fun for anyone?

Get a SG mate to take a newspaper mission with Mooks or Family and then load the mission with eight people way above the mission level. Run through and take out only the bosses, then leave and reset.

It's cheap, but it's the easiest way to get it as early as possible.

dude... dont bring up these issues. the fanbois will swarm you.

The stock answer is that you just need to roll an alt.

But honestly, this is the issue with many of the badges. Unless you have a full team farming certain missions early on then you wont get many of the badges.

I have been badge hunting for last 2 weeks as I have nothing else to do. This involves doing many PO missions over and over.

When players are intentionally taking on debt, that should be a big red flag to the devs that something is askew.

Since I don't know whether the missions from this contact are even worth doing, I didn't bother trying to get the badge. Tracking down a huge number of gray bosses is too much of a boring grind for my tastes.

Thats nothing compared to the unlockable Port Oakes contact. One that gives missions that cap at level 12 but in order to get them you need to trap ghosts which are level 12 themselves and worse still when enough go into the traps it spawns around eight level 15s with bosses.

Utterly pointless.

Right, I didn't bother with that contact either. There are more than enough other contacts at that level range.

The Slot Machine is hilarious...worth the effort.

FARMING

I tried to get this badge, but gave up after two hours of utter boredom. At one point, just to change the pace I was taking out groups with my caltrops. yay. ZZZzzzz...

200 *bosses* ?? That's just a joke.

if someone is saying 2 hours they are wrong... took me days. The capos dont spawn in large numbers or any regularity. I got 2 other badges while working PO for this one.

Not much more to say without spoilers. All I can tell you is I thought it was worth the effort.

Shrug. All I can tell is that you think it has some amusing dialogue. I'm not going to waste my time chasing down bosses for hours on end for that.

Perhaps a Wailer (all, not just bosses) badge would be more appropriate, since the Wailers are a relevant threat in the zone and have a story tied to the pyramid.

Depending on your point of view all content is just amusing dialog.

I ground out the mobs in Port Oakes because I am content junkie and want to see everything I can get to, on as many characters as I can where possible. Took me about 4 hours in two sessions with some VG teaming inbetween. I do think that the effort to unlock the unlockable contacts seems to be a little too much for the reward or unlocking them, even for a content junkie.

I don't recall any of the missions being particularly tricky or having super hard mobs or really revealing any major insight causing background info. But they were fun.

Also if you solo a lot you may run out of other content before you get to level 35 so unless you want to run Newspaper missions for a level or possibly more then having an extra contact can be handy.

Well that's just it. I ran out of useful content during level 33. I used newspaper missions to get to 35. I'd prefer doing missions from a contact.

But for all I know the Slot Machine sends me up against an AV the first mission. Or only has six missions to offer. I don't know. I decided that the newspaper missions beat grinding for hours to get a badge for a contact that might not have much useful content, or any useful content for me at all.
