From what I've gathered, the 5th Column was entirely separate from Arachnos. Then the Council split off from Arachnos, and subsequently took over the 5th Column.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bingo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh god really? Then why are they lead by such a dashing swarthy gypsy of an AV? Was he too swarthy and dashing to be part of arachnos and had to take over the 5th? That would sadden me. I liked the 5th. They were not swarthy.

Hey guys,
I am glad that folks seem to be enjoying the book. I just wanted to clear up a few of your questions.
-Shalice Tilman (Sister Psyche) has been around a long time. She was a teenager when she first appeared on the scene and when she is using her Mindriding ability her aging process is suspended. This has effectively doubled her lifespan.
-Maiden Justice is Monica Richter. Her daughter is Miss Liberty who was born in the late 40's. (Statesman and Maiden Justice waited until later in their careers to have children.) Her granddaughter is Ms. Liberty who was born in the early 80's.
-As far as Maria Jenkins goes, there is a mistake in her bio information. Maria Jenkins was Madame Danger not Maiden Justice. She worked with Statesman in the 30's. Sorry for the confusion.
-James "Jimmy the Smith" St. John Smythe is the father of Jonathan St. John Smythe in Atlas Park.
-The Council was formed from the ashes of Arachnos.
Hope that helps!
~Sean

And thanks for clearing up the Jimmy issue for me, I was confused. And the Maria Jenkins... was wondering why she canged her name And when L. Recluse says "My sister sends her regards" I still don't get how he would know and States wouldn't. Is Monica dead? Can Recluse talk to the dead if she is?
Manticore: CoV tie-in story arcs please!! I think I'll go tick off Celtic by telling him I'm yer fanboy now
This discussion would be less frustrating if I could get the book anywhere here in Canada.
Tygyr Tygyr Burning Bright
Let me see if I'm getting the Arachnos/Coloumn/Council thing straight...
Arachnos was some fascist organization, presumably working for Mussolini. The Center was mutant (possibly, even probably Nictus) member of Arachnos who left them (taking tons of ressources on his way out) to create the Council of Nictus, that was devoted to bringing the Nictus to power on Earth. The 5th Coloumn was part of Hitler's army, and its command was given to Requiem, the fusion of a Nictus and the fascist Ridolfo Uzziano (secretly and reluctantly taking orders from the Center). Lord Recluse took over what was left of Arachnos, then proceeded to conquer the Rogue Isles. Recently, still under orders from the Center, Requiem allowed the 5th Coloumn to be taken over by the Council.

So uh... this means that Tyrant is Dominatrix's grandfather too, right?
Ew.
[/ QUOTE ]
No - Dominatrix's mother was a hero - according to her bio named "Miss Liberty" - so it is unlikely that her mother's father was the Tyrant. Probably Miss Liberty-of-Praetorian-Earth's father was some other hero who is a villain in the regular CoH world... my first guess was Lord Recluse but he can't be as he is probably Miss Liberty's mom's brother in that world too? Or maybe it's in Praetorian Earth that Maria Jenkins got the name Maiden Justice first, accounting for the bio error. Whereas in real Earth Monica Richter got it first so Maria had to settle for her 2nd choice.
Could the Jenkins from CoV tutorial be Maria's descendant? hmm...
Great! Now how about a chapter explaining how Statesman looks so young, fresh, and non-wrinkled - seeing how he was superhero-ing back in the 30's?
Was there a time-travel expansion I missed? Has my memory been nerfed too?

Speaking of nerfs, I wonder if the nerf bat was one of the artifacts he might have found on the Isle of Vengeance.

Lord Recluse was responsible for the killings. It wasn't his hand that did the deeds, but he orchestrated all of it.
Stefan (Lord Recluse) had a lot of jealousy towards Marcus Cole because he felt he wasn't getting the credit that he was due in the Cole Gang. When he drank from the Fountain of Zeus, he not only grew stronger in body, but also in mind. It also changed his perspectives.
I can't help but wonder if the water equally changed Cole's perspectives. He was an infameous thief after all; after drinking from the fountain he sort of took a 360 from that path.

I'm starting to think WoA is CoH's AU, mutually exclusive "bookverse". From what I've read here thus far, the plotlines do not mesh.

-The Council was formed from the ashes of Arachnos.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did someone just rewrite history here? From what I understood The Counsil had more to do with the arrival of the Kheldians.
Also if it "formed from the ashes of Arachnos." isn't that Lord Recluse's organization and when people generally talk about an organization being in ashes that means it is defunct. As far as I know Lord Recluse is currently and definately not "defunct".
[/ QUOTE ]
When Mussolini fell, Arachnos splintered. The Center took a small group and formed the Council. At that time Arakhn stayed with the Council and Requiem was placed in the 5th Column as a mole.
That was also when Lord Recluse decided it was time for a new outlook for Arachnos. No longer would they back someone else. He took full control of the reigns and has never looked back.
Much more recently the Council showed themselves when they made their move on the 5th Column. This was in part motivated by plans of their Nictus allies fnally coming to fruition.
