Defense powers and stacking
*nod* Thanks for fixing that. It makes me feel a little bit better about my FF defender and SR scrapper.
That's very nice. Thank you.
But I do have to ask, is this the reason for the enhancement change, since fully stacked defenses would be higher without it?
Thanks for fixing that.

Yes, this is a good thing.
But could we please get a comment on that elephant over there, Mr. Emmert.
Thanks.

Good to see this issue resolved.
What powers to what degrees ?
I would like to make an informed decision. You can attach an excel spreadsheet to the post, I have no problem plugging through a matrix of numbers to help out my other casual gamer friends.
Thanks.

Seemingly, we lost sight of a basic principle of Design: players shouldnt make uninformed choices.

Honestly though? Until you provide us with actual numbers, we'll never be informed.
If you really, truly want us to be "informed" then you need to actually give us information.

There have been a lot of posts about which Defense powers stack with other Defense powers; some of this has been accurate, but some of it hasnt.
Seemingly, we lost sight of a basic principle of Design: players shouldnt make uninformed choices. Namely, some buffs had no effect on a player if he had certain Defense powers active.
Intuitively, a buff such as a Force Field should provide protection to a player whether he is a Super Reflexes Scrapper, an Ice Tanker or an Invulnerability Scrapper/Tanker.
As a result, we went through ALL of the Defense buffs in the game and ensured that they provide a benefit to players, regardless of build.
This means that every Defense buff WILL stack to some degree with a players defenses, regardless of his power set.

Good job Statesman. There are a few other places where you lost sight of that design principle, but we won't mention those right now.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
Specifics? As in which powers were affected? And how?
Blasters are stackable as well, usually in corners, doorways, or in dark hallways.

Now..about that elephant in my living room....

To some degree? Could you please quantify this a bit? Will pool power defenses provide more defense to positional defense than type? Will defender buffs provide more defense to type than positional? Will they all provide equal amounts of defense? And, to what types will they now provide defense?
So Defenders Defence powers will stack with other defence powers........................whoopty [Censored]

Gee thanks for all the helpful info.... We are so glad to see you responding to player concerns....

With ED coming online, the only way to find out what the effect
is of more than 3 enhancements of the same type is to buy the
enhancement and slot it so that you can see the effect. At
least, this is how the proposed change is supposed to work
according to the ED announcement Cuppa put up on the devs
boards.
Guess what? This means an UNINFORMED choice to the
non-number crunching, casual player.
Lost sight? No, you didn't lose sight. Losing presumes you
were even looking. It looks more like you've put blinders on.
For more information, read the Mud Whimping handbook link
in my signature below. You've entered the death spiral.
Personally, I don't think you're going to pull out, but I'd love
to be proved wrong.
Thanks, Geko, Posi and responsibles. This was a well-needed change.
And, not meant in a bad way, I had the feeling lately that you really have forgotten about that rule, not just with defense. I hope some of the later (and possible upcoming) design changes get looked up under the same "keep it simple" light.

Will weave add the same amount of defense to all ATs and in equal amounts for type and position?
Will the leadership powers still be varied by AT in the buffs they offer?
Do you honestly believe that SR having a MAX of 30% (With Enh Divers) defense to melee and range is viable when SR has no other forms of damage mitigation? Or am I supposed to carry around a pocket defender at all times since their bubbles will now stack? Wasn't I supposed to be able to solo?
Be well, people of CoH.

hmmmm... facts and fugures would be nice....
"to some degree" could be taken to mean there is a system of diminishing returns....you are fine with 2 buffs but when you get to 3 you start getting moderatkly penalized...at 4 you are severly penalized....maybe there is defense buff diversification...
