My guess is we're getting "filler" right now as the Manga tries to pull ahead with the "real" storylines again. That's why Jiraiya has been away on his "secret mission" for a while now. Someone who's acctually read the manga could probably give you a better confirmation of this, but that's what I think's happenning.

yep, thats whats happening.
The manga ended naruto "part 1" after the big shakedown fight between cursed seal 2 & kyubi-fied. (trying to stay somewhat ambiguous to avoid spoilers)
The last scene in naruto part 1 (as kishimoto calls it) is the scene in the cave with all the shadowed forms of the akatsuki members.
Then the manga goes into a kakashi side story for like 6 chapters. Then they took a month off. And then it picks up again with "part 2".
Part 2 has thusfar been fairly awesome.

Tsunade seems to have had just about enough of everyone's attitude. I can see why she didn't want to take the job now.
She does seem to be going out of her way to keep Naruto out of her hair. To be fair to Tsunade though, he is pretty annoying when nothing is going on.
At least we don't have the kindergardners doing the filler episodes anymore. Those got old in a hurry.
I'm half expecting Tsunade to go a bender of epic proportions and totally destroy her office and building. And she's starting to run out of people to send Naruto with to keep him out of her hair.
As for the conversation between Naruto and Fuzzy Eyebrows... let's just say I almost accidently snorted the root beer I was drinking at the time.
