Geko gives us a taste of I6...
Ok, I joined on the very brink of I5, so I didn't hear many of the doom prophets, but from what I've seen so far, I5's fine for me.
But, I didn't see much of the game prior to I5...so my whole point is moot.
I'll go to the corner now.
In the land before I5 there were unicorns and rainbows.
However, Statesman killed them off with chainsaw wielding legions.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. PISTOL SCRAPPERS BEFORE ALL ELSE!
[/ QUOTE ]
Just always been real curious how anyone can consider pistols to be a scrapper set. Unless the range is going tobe like 10 feet with maybe 1 longer range attack, to me a pistol set would be either blasters, like a wierd AR more based around single target damage, or a defender set sorta like trick arrow with fancy different type of cartridge loads. But im sorry at the level of damage scrappers can produce, along with the defenses they get(and i know they are not as great as they once were but are still more then a "ranged" AT gets) it seems to me that the balance of the ranged attacks in scrappers grasps already can kinda unbalance the world. Energy torrent, laser eyes, impale and the claw thingy, already do comparable blaster damage and when criticles hit way over. There are many spine scrapers that already build themselves as a quasi blaster, much like a blapper takes the melee strenght and no defense from the blaster sets.
Sorry but i just dont see how this could possibly not send the world spinning into unbalance. The epic power sets really already did that to a point, but a ranged bases scrapper set, even in a 20-50 foot range would still be way askew to how this game was built to operate. All i really know is if a scrapper can be primarily ranged with integration the whole "blasters are not in the same threat level to get mezz protection" argument is completely blown and i will be expecting to see a regen blaster soon.

Not to be a bubble buster but.... how can anyone get giddy when we are still suffering with the I5 bugs?! Yeah they may get MOST of them fixed by then... but then just another wave of the same in I6? I5 was promised to be "ready when it's ready" and it has been the most bugged yet! AHHHHHHH (runs screaming into the night)
[/ QUOTE ]
Most bugged yet? Wow. Surely you were not here for release or perhaps I2?
I5 has plenty of issues IMO, but I don't think most of them are bugs.

But then it was realized that the smoke provided 10x the effect intended, and it was removed. Also the smoke now aggros Hamidon whenever it is used, causing it to spawn and attack the user with its footstomp. (Do not presume to guess whence it came by feet).
And it was good.

Watch Equillibrium, and read up about effective-accurate ranges of standard pistols. Unlike what you see in Follywood, people do not normally fire handguns from over 30 yards and expect to hit people.

Funny, they haven't nerfed Spines scrappers, yet. They have a bunch of nice ranged stuff. Search for the Gun-fu scrapper threads before you go further. Much interesting discussion in them.

All blaster powers have better recharge and a longer range, in addition to AoE's. Only Focus and Impale surpass them for single target, and that's just because Focus rocks your mom while Impale is raiding your fridge.
Notice they're both short ranged, though, and only one of them appears in the set. NOT A BLASTER.
Spine scrappers are not blasters.

No, they build themselves to be minion killers. Unless you've got some righteous slotting, this kind of build will be MOST effective against mass minions, not bosses. Many will say differently, and I will hear their calls.

I can't wait for CoV, new powersets. And to respond to an earlier statement...of course they're going to keep some powers exclusive to CoH/CoV (Empathy/Plant Control) This promotes buying both games.
P.S. I still want a chainsaw for my villain....a deliciously gory chainsaw with spikes and baby heads hanging off of it to chop off the heads of innocent kittens and puppies. Oh and rabbit's feet as gifts for my family/friends.

Ya, pistol scrapper power doesn't get me too excited either. It seems to be a big forum favorite though. I'd rather see something more classic comic based, but that's just me.

Wow, going waaayyyy back...
Good point, though. What was that guy in purple.... "The Phantom"? He had a pistol too.
Did Green Hornet pack heat?
And Roland of Gilead is very cool, if much more recent.
Putting it in non-anime point of view makes me a bit more intrigued by the idea.

Add in the Lone Ranger and a few zillion cowboy heroes, plenty of WWII-era/pulp heroes as well. Or even Dirty Harry. :P
Gun-fu Hong Kong types are just the most recent incarnation.
I just don't think of cowboys and superheores in the same vein. They're two different genres to me. But that is just my point of view, others may see it differently...and that's ok.
I guess City of Cowboys wouldn't be any worse than City of Elves/Robin Hoods.

Hmm, no Water AT or Magnetisim AT (guess the latter got scrapped completely), and no talk of the Epic ATs. Interesting post.
I am eager to find out wha the "theme" is gunna be for I6.
[/ QUOTE ]
If its any consolation, "magnatism" superpowers I have seen in the comics play a lot like some of the existing powersets. Grav in particular. Concentric rings of "energy" that you use to hold opponents, throw them, lift and "propel" objects at others. (most of the propelled object are metal ones too!). For my magnatism Hreo, I added sonics, which although the "sound" effects dont fit, the concentric rings animations work great as well as ability to project magnetic "shields" , repel objects... I think a real magnetic powerset would be too similar to the existing ones and they probably want something more unique for a new powerset.
