wait so.... if statesman is the modern day Zeus, then is recluse Hades(err w/e his name is)?

did hades HAVE a sister? i dont remember mythology class lol

id find it hard to belive that a "good" god would power recluse

also if states is "invincible" and never dies then... does he have a wife or g/f? cause it'd suck when she dies

Can SOMEONE please explain to me this knee-jerk "Recluse is Hades" response? Please, can SOMEONE point out where in the mythological source material Hades is depicted as the implacable foe of Zeus? What is that source of this gross error?

Many mythos have a story involving a well or fountain and some cultures have one as well that do not tie into their mythos such as the Fountain of Youth. My guess is that there is the mythological wells and then the 'real world' COH-verse well that is the source of all those mythos. So the mythos are not pure fact (perhaps real event inspired) but the well itself is.

No, I think that charging it as the Well of the Furies pretty much denies all but Greek mythology. It being guarded by a Gorgon only further cements the idea that the well is Greek in mythos, and not an omni-mythological source of power. At least, probably not.

So that means Recluse is, most likely, an incarnation of another Greek god (or goddess possibly).

Rcichter, Richter... Andy Richter, the lovably pudgy sidekick to Conan O'Brien? Awesome, Lord Recluse is Andy Richter's father!

See? That's what happens when you play connect the dots with just one dot.

The Furies were born from the blood of Heaven along with the Giants. The Titans who evenetually had decendants like Zeus ect.. ect.. were most likely punished by the Furies who were very much about Justice and Revenge so it makes perfect sense that they eventually exacted justice and revenge on the Titans who's ancestors were responsible for killing their 'father'.

Maybe they stripped their power and put it into a well or something. Personally I liked it better when the origin of the incarnates were tied to the theory of the World Tree and the Spring of Life/Wisdom.

Uranus not heaven the dudes name was Uranus

I think the furies just sucked their power to be [censored],you have to admit the furies where [censored]

And no one likes Norse mythology they where vikings, vikings!!!

Well, they were only [censored] toward people who deserved it.

Or, the standard good/bad split. States got the 'good' side of Zeus, and Lord Recluse got the power of the 'bad' side.

I think that Recluse's hatred of Statesman has nothing to do with the Gods inside them, but is personal between the two. Then they both got these powers from the same source and that just excaberated the situation. In my opinion the most "evil" of the Greek Gods was Ares the God of War. Mostly though because out of all the Gods he was the biggest [censored]. And what better God to be the Incarnate of if you want to take over the world, than the God of War. The only Hades connection we've seen is Fort Hades, and I think it's just named that because of the ghosts that hang out there.

I agree with the Statesman having been in a relationship with Monica thing, that could certainly help fuel Recluse's hatred of him if he mistreated (matter of perspective of course) her. However, if she's still alive, she'd be really old. I think she is either A) dead, and Recluse is actually Hades and therefore has access to the souls of the dead (Ghost Widow got brought back, sort of). B) Monica is also some kind of Incarnate working for Recluse. C) Half alive/ dead, in a suspended state/altered state, somewhere on the Rogue Isles protected by Recluse.

Nonononononono...

Richter is a completely normal German last name. In fact I had a buddy by that last name in elementary school. Likewise, Stefan or Stephan is a completely normal (and overly popular) German first name. Obviously, Recluse is German, like myself and all the other straight-up movie bad guys... er.. you know what I mean.

And while we're on the subject, Richter directly translates to 'judge', in any interpretation of the word. Meaning the guy who provides over court, the guys who call beauty pageants or the judgement of Gob. The Richter scale is simply named after its inventor, Charles Francis Richter, the word doesn't directly relate to seismic activity in any further way.

Hmmm, we could pick Stefan apart as well while we're at it. Historically, the kings of Poland used that name a lot (well, Stepan if I transcribed that properly). However, the only notable appearance of them in my recall of history is the rescue of the city of Vienna (and probably the rest of Europe) from an Ottoman siege some 400 years back.

The name itself is of Attic Greek origin and means 'the crowned one'.

[/ QUOTE ]Hmmm who do we know who is half alvie/dead in a altered state somewhere on the Rouge Isles protected by Recluse? Hmmm help me out here....ohhhh could it be Ghost Widow. Who slept with Statesman and died but Recluse being the incarnate of hades brought back her soul as Ghost Widow and when Recluse said and my sister sends her regards he was referring to oh Monica aka. Ghost Widow (the sister of his states slept with) sends her regards. And Ghost doesnt know this because Recluse wiped her memories. It all fits
