Soo... The University will appear as a building in I5 but do absolutely nothing? Or does it have another purpose?

New zone – Croatoa. Supposedly leaked photos indicate that it is a city zone with the third university (two are under construction on live right now). The level range is 25-35. According to a member of the forums who has supposedly seen it, the zone is HUGE. There is no definite information on this, so consider the above educated speculation. This zone will include new missions, contacts, TFs, etc. following the example set by Striga Isle.

[/ QUOTE ]

There is a vicious rumor going around that this zone has been pulled from I5...anybody confirm or deny this?

[/ QUOTE ]

The zone is still in Issue 5 (it's the bulk of issue 5, as Striga was for issue 3). The University is still in Croatoa, but alas the Skills System tied to it is not (its currently undergoing a redesign). So to clear up: Skills pulled from Issue 5. Croatoa is not.

[/ QUOTE ]

Could you clarify what you mean by Skills? Maybe if you made an official post or something we could help...

Hey, I have a question re: the addition of store locations in the in-game maps... I have a map patch that I got months and months ago (the excellent one that Veneres made if I recall correctly) that has them listed with great little icons... will the "fixed" map that's officially released replace my trusty patched map do you think? Also, will anything besides stores be on it do you think? Not that I don't LOVE keeping a 3-ring binder next to my desk with VidiotMaps' print-outs in it, buuuuut...

If you folks want some detailed information on the new Croatoa zone (which is indeed that new unmarked place on the map where the green line has an extention to) then check out this website called the 5th Column Newsreel.

They have screenies of the new zone with an upcoming video as well. A complete handdrawn map of the zone with details on the names of the various zones. The site also gives details on the new firefighting missions as well as the new Troll raves in Skyway City.

I looked up red caps in an image search and all I got were hats, bottle caps, and a rooster.

[/ QUOTE ]

Red Caps are from Celtic Mythlogy and are members of the Unseelie Court. They kill people and then wash their caps in the blood of those they defeat. The Red Caps have such a bad reputation that other evil faeries would not be seen with them. Typically humans left the Unseelie Court alone. The only exception to the rule was King Arthur who according to legend took his army and sacked the Castle of Bones losing a lot of men but carrying off many magical treasures and got no retribution.

Id like to ask a question about this.
It has been stated that the Skills System has gone through (at least) 2 incarnations, both of which have been scrapped because they were deemed "un-fun".
Now my question is this- Why are they "un-fun"? What makes it suck so bad?
The Community knows absolutley nothing (much really) about the Skill System so we cant make a determination about the "fun factor".
To you (the Devs) they might seem "un-fun", but maybe to a large part of the community, what you have come up with could be the most fun EVAR!!1
You could be scapping something that YOU deem "un-fun" when in fact, a majority of players might think it IS fun.

To me, thats like some new player coming to CoH and at the end of his free month posts an "I Quit! Game SUXXORZ!" thread.
Well, thats HIS opinion, but there are many others who think this game is fantastic.
So maybe the Skills System isnt as bad as you (the Devs) think.
Maybe something like this should go out to some type of external "Beta" testing to see what the players think.

I mean, if it sucks, we WILL be the first to tell you. Trust us on that one

I guess what Im asking for is some more information about the Skills System.
Some give and take communication about it.
A "Round Table" if you will.
You never know, the community could actually help you figure out a solution to a workable and fun Skills System.
Thats if we knew more about it

I'm assuming the skills has been boring in that it's either a long non sensical click fest until ta da you've learned a skill.

Or perhaps maybe you read a bunch of text as a sort of test and then answer a few questions to "ta da" learn another set of skills.

Either that or Statesman attempted to design crafting and got really bored with it.

Obviously I can't tell what was wrong with the previous attempts at the Skills system. I can say this: in the past the development team has stated they want to avoid boring timesinks, want skills to fit in with the superhero genre, and they want them to be rewarding but not vital to the success of a player. Perhaps the previous attempts violated those rules the devs set for themselves. That would be my guess as to why they were deemed "unfun."

New Trial
I think the Dam/Faultline was mentioned

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm highly sceptical about this (although I hope I'm wrong). I haven't seen anything about the Faultline trial beyond rumour mongering, but I would expect a new Trial or TF in the new zone.

Has anyone seen any real evidence that the Faultline trial is on the way?

[/ QUOTE ]

The Faultline Trial has been planned since early beta. Check out Prima's strategy guide and they'll even tell you what the original plan was for the Faultline trial and what it entailed/will entail.

Man, I'd just kill to here about what ONE of the skills they were working on that they decided was not fun. It would be interesting to see if they did a poll and al of us voted on if it would be "fun" or not.

I'm sure some of the skills would be like "detective" or "politician" or something.

from what i've read in the old prima guide the Faultline trial was supposed to be similar to how the Terra Volta trial is now.
Protect the power towers (4) from an unceasing onslaught of baddies that want to destroy them.
you can see the power towers thru the warwall at the far back of the Faultline zone. from what i hear there was a bug in beta that actually let people teleport into the zone.
makes me wonder if the zone is instanced, its own zone or just on the other side of the warwall in faultline. be pretty interesting if you could watch heroes doing the trial in there.

We don't really know. All we know is that it is supposed to be "out of combat" content.... in other words, something to do other than bash villains. It will be something your hero can learn to improve him/herself. That's all we know for sure. If you look around the forums you could probably find reliable and not so reliable theories.

I thought the idea of skills was shelved by States. Is this something that is still in the works? I could have swore that I saw a post saying that he had given up on the skills system.
