DANGER ROOM

Customizable? N
Type: Purchased (150,000 + Unlockable Villains)
Description: The Danger Room portal is a holographic room that simulates a larger space (a single roomn approx. the size of a largish mission door room). As in the X-comics we love (or hate) the Danger Room can spawn holographic/robotic/mystical copies of Villains or Heroes that the group have fought in the past. This can be used to practice team tactics, test solo builds, find soloability limits, etc.
Limitations: When activated by the Team Lead, a menu is selected, listing the different room types (sewer, tech base, office, Orenbega, abandoned lot, etc.) and a list of all Named Bosses/AV's that have previously been defeated by SG members WHILE IN SG MODE (important). There would also be a difficulty setting that would control the spawn numbers (easy= Boss/AV plus 2 spawns of Minions/Lt.s, basically the same as you'd have in game, "Challenging= Boss/AV + 3 spawns, up to "Insane" (6 spawns, each spawn re-spawns in 30 seconds (i.e. the Infernal portal). Enemies defeated give NO XP, PRESTIGE, INF. or any other reward- the Danger Room is merely a training tool (very important).

Ok, what form of communism?
Marxist/Leninist communism? Who are the workers then? How do they control the means of production?

Supreme executive power should come from a mandate from the masses, not some farcical aquatic ceremony! -
I agree with the second post re: pulls... In my experience, Neutrino Bolt (the lvl 1 blast) is one of the pest pull attacks in the game... It's fast yet has a slight travel-time delay, which makes it PERFECT for those "shoot and duck around a corner" pulls... This is a staple when duoing IMHO...

Quick questions (sorry if any of this is in the mammoth backlog of this thread already):
1. Is there a complete list of the actual POWER NAMES used with the "powexec_name" command? I'm creating a printable list of all of these binds and I want to incliude it.
2. How do you save a copy of your current toon's keybinds list from the server? I made up several manual keybind lists that I then sent to the servers via the "keybind_load_file" command, but I cannot locate my masters due to a HDD failure issue. Those binds are still working in-game, but I worry abut this bind bug I heard mentioned and would like to save an offline version of them just in case. My Mastermind's getting quite a huge list that I'd HATE to loose.
Thanks!!

1/ You can find a list for CoV HERE and for CoH HERE
2/ the command is /bind _save_file <path> so for example /bind_save_file c:\coh\mastermind.txt

Thanks for the links- although are the names as listed in those tables how the POWEXEC_NAME recognizes them? I thought that some powers had abbreviated forms of the name or strange spaces/no spaces in theoir POWEXEC_NAME incarnations-- is this not true?
I assume the "bind_save_file" command simply downloads and saves a copy of the current bind list on the server and makes a .TXT file with the name specified (mastermind.txt in your example, for instance). Right? -

This is the only part of the post I disagreed with. Crowd Control powers in PvP are even worse. As bad as it is to be chain-mezzed in PvE, dying in PvP because of this is even worse.

So, what do you suggest for those players that live for Controller type powersets? I'd wager that they find face-planting to an overwhelmingly powerful and equally "unresistable" melee attack (followed by a long run back into combat) equally un-fun. Let 'em have their Holds and Mezzes... I've seen quite a few suggestions on these forums from players using actual tactics (as opposed to the power Tactics) to put the jump on Trollers not paying attention, fixated on a specific player while others sneak up behind them and swiftly gank them when their power ends, etc.) -
Nice work... I like your summaries and the history behind them fior those interested in learning a bit of history. Hopefully this will "up" the role-playing tone in-game a bit. Five stars.

Hey, I have a question re: the addition of store locations in the in-game maps... I have a map patch that I got months and months ago (the excellent one that Veneres made if I recall correctly) that has them listed with great little icons... will the "fixed" map that's officially released replace my trusty patched map do you think? Also, will anything besides stores be on it do you think? Not that I don't LOVE keeping a 3-ring binder next to my desk with VidiotMaps' print-outs in it, buuuuut...

I'll be there, representing Mygamer.com (the site I do PC reviews for). See you there, Jack!

*) My advice is: do not beat us with the Stick of Teaming. Just because you have had a good experience teaming is not a valid reason for forcing it on anyone else. If you want people to team, give them motivation to do so. You attract more flies with honey than vinegar.

I keep seeing this sort of sentiment on the boards and I really think it's a good one... I know it would be lots of work, but my suggestion would be to have contact offer not two missions as it is now (one street sweep, one door), but rather THREE missions, roughly classified as:
* Street Sweep- self-explainatory. Leave this just as-is.
* Standard door (Minions and Lt's in the mission, scaled to fit the player numbers and slider settings at the time of mission launch- basically what we have now but with a far lower Boss spawn rate, with all Boss missions clearly defined in the flavor text) and
* Team/Larege Map- Missions for groups. Missions have Bosses, AVs, large maps (as in the huge, sprawling CoT underground bases that are sooooo cool but taks sooooo long to run through), etc. These missions can either spell out their difficulty in the flavor text (i.e.: "This will be a tough one [player], probably a suicide run without backup. If I were you, I'd go grab some teamm mates to take this base out!"), can be color-coded, whatever. And yes, some builds might be able to solo even these missions, but you can offer the cookie through increaded XP awards for groups that get larger as more players do the mission, etc. thereby ENCOURAGING team play rather than PUNISHING soloers. -
Hey, this is SERIOUS people... All my 'toons live in the Dance Party- after all, my heroes are all homeless, so I need somewhere safe and dark to sleep. My arresting is going to be seriously screwed up if I have to take naps between missions with all the lights on!

I posted a thread about this in "Player Questions", bnut am having no luck, so maybe someone in HERE can answer something for me? Here goes:
In the Lore Guide that I downloaded (27 pages, compiled by Jason Robinson and copy written 2004) it states on page 12 that "Hero Corp was forced to withdraw from Paragon City" following massive espionage and the razing of their building before construction could be completed. It went on to talk about how Hero Corps was the beneficiary of the Special Council for Superhuman Activities resolution in the UN, but makes no mention of such a benefit being the finalization of the Paragon City franchise.
Then, on page 16, in the section on Atlas Park, it discusses Ms. Liberty, and says that FREEDOM Corps is "a new venture" of hers, one that "facilitates communication and coordination between Paragon City's new heroes".
So, my question is how did Freedom Corps get into the city, and what exactly ARE they? When were the facilities finally completed? I assume there might be higher-level content that I've not yet seen (so Devs, if this counts as Spoiler info I'd be happy to get a private message), but what I'm curious about is what would be PUBLIC KNOWLEGE about what's known about Freedom Corps coming into Paragon, and what ever happened to Hero Corps (the assumption is that they are still out there, working internationally with the UN to work on metahuman crime issues elsewhere in the world)..
My assumptions are that 1) Freedom Corps came to Paragon following the decimation of 80% of the hero population in the Rikti War (as per the Lore Guide, p. 15) and that 2) Heroes such as Stateman are not affiliated with Freedom Corps and 3) That Ms. Liberty has assumeed the role formerly taken by Luminary in the Hero Corps, and is the Freedom Corps "celebrity" responsible for running PR and that 4) new heroes are required to register with Freedom Corps in order to participate in the official Vigilante Law Enforcement activities in the city (the comic in issue #5 statres something to this effect), and once they register a hero gets a hospital transporter and a set of the teleporting handcuffs that whisk fallen baddies off to "jail".
What I'm unclear of is if it's ever been documented HOW one registers, WHAT fees od dues must be paid, IF heroes draw a salary or other compensation (bounties perhsps?) from Freedom Corps, IF Freedom Corps offers health care, retirement, withholds taxes, etc. And ARE Hero Corps and Freedom Corps related in any way? Is Crey affiliated with Freedom Corps the wayt they were with Hero Corps before the Rikti invasion?
I'm plotting a short story for submission, and I really need to know some basic, everyday factiods about Freedom Corps and the role they play in a hero's interaction with law enforcement, as you can see. I now that there are plaques about the city adding to the known back-story of Hero Corps and the UN Special Council, but some are in zones to hazardous for me to travel to, so if anyone can paraphrase that info here I'd appreciate it. I have no idea if any of those plaques refer to FREEDOM Corps, however (I suspect not from comments I've heard elsewhere).
Naturally, if a Dev or Moderator wants to chime in on this as well, I'd be MOST APPRECIATIVE!!! -

Also, usually AOEs work on mobs stuck under stairs, etc. Also you can change your camera distance to -10 or -20 (/camdist -10) to "see" through the walls and see if you're doing damage.
We got rid of a group of Carnies to finish a mission this morning that way. You just have to jockey yourself into proper position where the AOEs or Cones can have an effect.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, AOEs will kill them as well... We had this happen last night in a ruined office door mission in the Positrin TF, and 4 of the baddies ended up under some stairs. Weirdly enough, they could (and did) shoot as US from behind them. Solution: our Fire Controller got as close as possible to them and popped Rain of Fire and Fire Circle Sword over and over till we nickle-and-dimed them to death... At least we finished the misison, because I knew a /petition would go unanswered... -

No this is a bug. Were working on it.

This is becoming the mantra of Cryptic.

Dude, are you clueless?!? You're saying this like it's a BAD thing. That's their raison d'etre right now: fixing the bugs in the game and making sure it stays playable.
I wouldn't want to play an MMOG where "We're working on it" is NOT thier mantra.

You know... that's a good point.
Aftyer they put the Babbage spawn back in, I vote that they put it in 3-4 other places as well, and keep 'em spawning all night. Personally, I'd LOVE to see an army of 10 of them rampaging through Boomtown. Hell, rampage a force of like 200 Clocks, lead by 10 Babbages and a CLockwork King down the streets of Steel some evening. You know... just to spice things up. -
I've done a few +1 Level Bosses with my Defender solo... It took all my Insp.s in most cases and required a level of strategy (hit and runs, praying I had enough time to get out before getting pasted, etc.). But named Skull Bosses with Dark Melee are still basically unkillable at the lower levels without at least three people... My wife and I tried duoing Bonebreaker and after 3 deaths apiece he was still at 1/2 health... NO FAIR. Dark Melee Bosses have always been tough but now... Sheesh!!
Thanks for keeping us informed, Statesman! -
Hope they start the invasion soon... I assume they had bigger fish to fry with fixing the broken things in Issue #2, but they really should start the invasion while people still even REMEMBER the scouts.
Think it will be NEXT Thursday? -
It's NOT "running away"... it's "going to get help"!
-
OR, just make the flag PARAGON CITY'S FLAG, and be done with it. After all, regardless of the "nationailty" of our toons, we all are fighting within Paragon after all...
Can't wait to see all this new stuff guys! -
Never got to play before I left, but I'm back now. I'll drop you guys an email tonight or tomorrow... Thanks, again!
-
Thanks for posting this... Just made one of these toons on a whim and now I'm really excited to see what they can do!
-
So email Hamadryad or Arizian in-game? Just making sure I have the character names right. I'm J'oule, like it says in the sig.
I'm travelling to Chicago for a few days but I'll try to drop online tonight to at least email you. Thanks! -
I just hit level 8, so it sounds like I'd fit into the Survivors, if you're looking for a Blaster. What do I do to petition you to join?
-
Solid- I'll look out for you. Anyone else? Seems like some servers might have more RP'rs then XP'rs.
-
Just started playing on Infinity and I'm looking for people to actually ROLE play with. I'm still low level, but maybe I can Sidekick of you have a higher-level character? If I have interest I'll post my character background... Thanks!
