    Issue 5 Summary?

    [ QUOTE ]
    but alas the Skills System tied to it is not (its currently undergoing a redesign). So to clear up: Skills pulled from Issue 5.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Id like to ask a question about this.
    It has been stated that the Skills System has gone through (at least) 2 incarnations, both of which have been scrapped because they were deemed "un-fun".
    Now my question is this- Why are they "un-fun"? What makes it suck so bad?
    The Community knows absolutley nothing (much really) about the Skill System so we cant make a determination about the "fun factor".
    To you (the Devs) they might seem "un-fun", but maybe to a large part of the community, what you have come up with could be the most fun EVAR!!1
    You could be scapping something that YOU deem "un-fun" when in fact, a majority of players might think it IS fun.

    To me, thats like some new player coming to CoH and at the end of his free month posts an "I Quit! Game SUXXORZ!" thread.
    Well, thats HIS opinion, but there are many others who think this game is fantastic.
    So maybe the Skills System isnt as bad as you (the Devs) think.
    Maybe something like this should go out to some type of external "Beta" testing to see what the players think.

    I mean, if it sucks, we WILL be the first to tell you. Trust us on that one

    I guess what Im asking for is some more information about the Skills System.
    Some give and take communication about it.
    A "Round Table" if you will.
    You never know, the community could actually help you figure out a solution to a workable and fun Skills System.
    Thats if we knew more about it
  3. Nice.

    Anyone notice how Lord Recluse sounds a bit like another "Dark Lord"???

    I half expected him to say- "Statesman. I am your Father."

    Actually, I am going to be putting up a new version of my binds a little later today. I have made some updates to fix some small things, and I also made the following changes:

    Instead of specifying run powers in the binds themselves, they now toggle on and off the first power in the second tray. I just swap Sprint and SuperSpeed in there when I need to. I did this as I wanted my binds to use Sprint when indoor, and SuperSpeed when outdoors. This also allows me to have SuperSpeed be manually toggled for those situations where you are using the agro radius reduction on SuperSpeed to attempt single pulls. This would help in your situation as you could just move your prestige power to this slot to use it with the binds.

    I also changed the "default" key arrangement, so that F still toggles Hover on and off (for catching myself when jumping off things), and TILDE still being FOLLOW.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Great. I think I will wait till you post the new version instead of switching commands in all the run.txt files.

    Thanks again for this.

    **EDIT- Ok, just to see how it works, I did what you said and used "Replace All" and put in "primary" for "sprint" (it was alot easier to do than I thought) and then let the.bat file wite up the files.

    For test reasons I did 2 folders. Binds and Sbinds. The Binds folder had everything at default (sprint) while the Sbinds folder is the one that has all the altered "Primary" (Prestige Power Surge) commands.
    Loaded up the game and did /bind_load_file c:\coh\sbinds\run\norun.txt

    The Prestige Power Surge still will not activate.

    Ran /bind_load_file c:\coh\binds\run\norun.txt and Sprint works just fine, tried to re-load the Sbinds files, but Prestige Power Surge still wont activate using the .txt files (though it will work if I click on it manually).
    Dont understand what the problem is.

    Here is the contents of my norun.txt files

    Start with the basic batch file from Falstaff's page and perform the following change:

    powexec_name Sprint changed to powexec_name %primary%

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Do you mean below the ::::::::NO CHANGES NEEDED BELOW THIS POINT:::::::: part find all lines like (echo %activate% "powexec_name Hover$$powexec_name Fly$$powexec_name Sprint$$powexec_name %sprint%$$bind_load_file %directory%\run\autorunxyz.txt" >>%directory%\fly\autoflyxyz.txt) and change anywhere it says "Sprint" to "primary"?

    Like this?- "powexec_name primary$$powexec_name %primary%"

    Like I said before, I am retarded when it comes to /commands in CoH.

    There are alot of command lines in that .bat file with the word "sprint". do I change them all?

    [ QUOTE ]

    then change:

    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Surge to: set primary=%Prestige Power Surge

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ok, I understand what to do here.

    Thanks for replying.

    Ok, I tried exactly what you posted and edited the bat file to look like this

    ::Sprint Power [Default = Sprint]
    ::set sprint=%sprint
    ::set sprint=%Super Speed
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Quick
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Rush
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Dash
    set sprint=%Prestige Power Surge

    Yet it still writes the line in the txt files like this-
    "powexec_name Sprint$$powexec_name Prestige Power Surge$$powexec_name Hover$$powexec_name Fly$$bind_load_file c:\coh\binds\fly\autoflyxyz.txt"

    Which activates my default Sprint instead of the Prestige Power Surge.
    I still cant figure out whats wrong.

    Thanks for any help

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ok, I'm not an expert on Ahzurad's binds, or Falstaff's Script, but this line:

    "powexec_name Sprint$$powexec_name Prestige Power Surge$$powexec_name Hover$$powexec_name Fly$$bind_load_file c:\coh\binds\fly\autoflyxyz.txt"

    Is just to turn OFF Sprint and the prestige power, and turn on fly or hover. Having Sprint in there too just makes suer it's turned OFF also, just in case it got turned on somehow. Maybe tell us the line in the autoRUNy.txt file? At least that power is getting into your binds now, where before it was being overwritten, so something is improved.
    So it's still not working in-game?

    Gnarly (butting in )

    [/ QUOTE ]

    There is no autoruny.txt file
    (autorunxyz.txt, autorunxz.txt, autorunyz.txt and autorunz.txt)

    In ALL the "run.txt" files it puts the line- "powexec_name Sprint$$powexec_name Prestige Power Surge"

    And its still not working in game
  8. [ QUOTE ]
    Anti_M-

    Oops! You are accidentally listing two sprint powers.

    For Prestige Power Surge this:
    ---------------------------------------------
    ::Sprint Power [Default = Sprint]
    set sprint=%Sprint
    ::set sprint=%Super Speed
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Quick
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Rush
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Dash
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Surge
    ----------------------------------------------

    Should become this:
    ---------------------------------------------
    ::Sprint Power [Default = Sprint]
    ::set sprint=%sprint
    ::set sprint=%Super Speed
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Quick
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Rush
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Dash
    set sprint=%Prestige Power Surge
    ----------------------------------------------

    The two colons ( :: ) act as a comment marker. Putting them in front of Sprint will cancel that power being put into the binds. I'll try and re-write the instructions to make more sense. Sorry about the confusion!

    Curveball,

    Try this page: http://www.falstaffenterprises.com/CoH/

    Falstaff has created batch files that you can edit with the keys you want to bind functions to, then it spits all the files out when you run the batch. Perhaps that will help.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I went to this site and grabbed Ahzurdan's Fly binds bat file.
    AWESOME binds!!!! +1k.
    This makes playing my heroes so much easier. No more extra clicking to switch between powers.

    **edit. I am having 1 problem and I cant figure out what Im doing wrong.
    The .bat file doesnt want to create my Prestige Power Surge as my sprint. It writes the .txt files with the Default Sprint.
    Even if I go through ALL the .txt files and manually change any reference to Sprint to Prestige Power Surge, the game still wont use the Prestige Power (and Sprint wont even work after that)

    *and before anyone asks, Yes I do have the Prestige Power Surge power enabled on my account. Its slotted and I use it instead of Sprint

    The directions say- "If you wish to change one of the options, modify the default option at the end of the line that starts with SET. Modify only the part after the % symbol."

    So I edit this part-
    ---------------------------------------------
    ::Sprint Power [Default = Sprint]
    ::set sprint=%sprint
    set sprint=%Super Speed
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Quick
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Rush
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Dash
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Surge
    --------------------------------------------------

    To this-
    ---------------------------------------------------
    ::Sprint Power [Default = Sprint]
    set sprint=%Prestige Power Surge
    set sprint=%Super Speed
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Quick
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Rush
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Dash
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Surge
    --------------------------------------------------------

    Isnt that correct?
    You do have to remove the :: part before the set for it to load right? (thats the way the other commands are so I assumed)
    Yet even with that line changed it still loads the Default Sprint.
    Whats wrong?
    Im sorry, Im retarded whan it comes to CoH /bind commands.
