What's your Tank's Origin?
Heraclea
Real name: Heraclea Semiramides
Powers: Invuln/SS
Origin: Magic
Heraclea comes from a remote island of female warriors who still worship the gods of classical antiquity, all of whom were gifted with warrior skills by the goddess Vesta. All her life, Heraclea has been fond of smashing things; something she came to regret after she broke an ancient amphora by her general rowdiness. As such, she was ordered to serve as a gladiator. She lost an eye in the process fighting wild beasts and legendary creatures in the arena, but she survived and became one of the most famous gladiators on the island.
To redeem her place in society, she was selected to come to Paragon City on a mission to recover an ancient artifact that had been stolen by the Circle of Thorns mages. Upon seeing conditions in Paragon City, and in particular the number of women who are captured by Thorns wizards or preyed upon by petty gangsters, she decided to remain in the area to teach them to stand up for themselves.

Codename: Dollhouse
Real Name: Cassadie Cohen
Origin/Powersets: Science 'Firetanker' (fire/fire)
Cassadie Cohen was grimly making her way through another day of humiliation and lonliness at Ann Coulter High School, "enjoying" being the least athletic girl in PE class. As "Fatty Cassie" once again stumbled and fell on her face on the soccer field, the stray Rikti cluster munition landed. The expanding flat disc of concentrated plasma released by the "daisy cutter" passed a foot above her outstretched form, instantly killing the other students and their teachers and coaches. Cassadie herself somehow survived, but the intense heat and violent shockwave mangled her prostrate form and sent her into a coma.
Awakening many long months later in a Deimos Innovations medical research facility, the shattered girl learned that her parents had been killed in the battle for Baumton. She also learned that much of her chunky, graceless body had been replaced by cutting edge cybernetics, powered by Deimos' radical nano-fusion drive. She is equipped with a multi-layered defensive aura system, powerful jumpjet array, extensive retinal-display information systems, full-function medical nanocloud, and most fearsome of all, an offensive weapons suite containing fusion-powered plasma emitters, coronal pulse array, subliminal sonics psyops subroutine, and devastating incineration field generator.
Now Cassadie burns with more than the fusion-fired intensity of her cybernetics: she also loathes the Rikti with a fiery passion and vows to play a crucial role in eradicating them from Paragon City. She has learned much in her career as an unlikely superhero, but feels she is now poised to make a real difference.
Dollhouse proudly adheres to the Tanker's Creed. She will stand. She will fight. She will not flee while life remains. She will gladly place herself in the path of blows meant for her teammates. And should she fall, anything that steps over her to attack her teammates will be a reeling, smouldering shadow of its former self.
Dollhouse is a proud member of Night Shift, on Triumph...call on her any time!

Real Name: Zoe James
Powers: Inv/Energy
Origin: Mutant
Zoe James was an extremely hyperactive girl. Her mouth and body never stopped moving. Though she was intelligent she could never focus enough to excel in school, driving her teachers nuts.
People always told her she needed to focus her energy. She tried sports, art, debate, whatever she could, but though she had talent in most of these she lacked the focus to do well. She went to a battery of doctors, tried a pharmacy of drugs, but nothing helped. Ultimately she was labeled extremely ADHD, and moved out of the mainstream classes at school because she was just to disruptive.
All this changed when she was walking home from school one day and accosted by some of Paragon Cities numerous criminals. They tried to attack her, and in fear she lashed out. Energy exploded from her and she laid her assailants out in one punch. She stood in the street with body and fists glowing and for the first time in her life felt calm.
She has since learned that she can siphon off her excess energy through the use of her powers. Violent acts allow her to release the most energy, so she has taken up Superheroing as a sort of therapy. Though truth be told she enjoys the action, as well as helping the citizens of Paragon.

NAME: Sumigo
POWERS: Stone/Stone
STORY:The stone mallet crushed the Underboss with an overhand blow on the shoulder. One last stone fist was all it took to render the thug helpless, I waited til sirens and flashing lights indicated that the authorities were on the way. As the policemen surrounded them and gave me the thumbs up that they had the mobsters in hand I nodded, threw the Underboss to them and launched myself into the night sky.
It is usually on nights like this when the eerie glow from the cities force fields reflect off of the clouds and combine with the starlight, that I am reminded of the past. How I came to be on this strange alien world and what drives me to continue my quest.
It seems so long ago now that I Sumigo came to the fortress of Juxtaposition the headquarters of the mysterious members of Cairdeas. I remember being nervous at the thought of being sent to a mighty fortress that sat on the intersection of the dimensional threads.
But the memory of the majesty of the place still strikes pangs of pride in my heart, pride at being considered a member of such a mighty organization. The energy crystals that the fortress was made from reflected the rolling vortexes and energies from the universe and made the entire fortress look as if it were made from the light of a swirling rainbow.
But it was my turn for reassignment and I would show no fear. So I sat in the waiting hall eager for my turn to meet with the council, fresh with excitement, hungry to move on and forget the failures of my previous assignment.
"Well, if it isnt young Sumigo," a familiar elderly voice rang out from down the hall. I turned to see the elderly mage Asmoth striding toward me with a step that belied his ancient countenace. This was nothing new, everyone knew that Asmoth was more virile than he let on sometimes, anger him and enemies would disappear with a wave of his staff.
"You too?" I asked him carefully. He looked at me sadly and replied,"its not by choice, but as you well know there is very little left in Hibernia for us. Its not a problem you and I can fix," he continued, "so think nothing further of it. There will be others there who will make sure things dont degrade any further, and besides Cairdeas has something big in store for us Im thinking, why else would you and I both be called up at the same time?"
I shrugged, not having an answer. "Where do you think theyll send us?" I asked.
Im not sure my boy, he shrugged back. But I trust the councils decision, whatever it may be.
He sat down on the crystal bench next to me and leaned his staff against the wall next to him. His old body looking spry and healthy despite his best efforts to look old and feeble. Looking around he quickly added, quite the place they have here, in all my studies in all my years Ive never heard of such a thing, building a fortress on the very threads of time and space itself. Gives you an idea of the importance of the work they have in mind for us to bring us here, if they felt we were a security risk wed never know such a place as this even existed.
I nodded feeling a small swell of pride, but still not knowing was agonizing, and we both fell into an uncomfortable silence. Several minutes went by before the council door opened and Asmoth and I were summoned in to meet with the council.
The council room was well decorated but not overly so, as if the occupants wished to display their power but not arrogantly. Their were items that were obviously from many worlds on the walls, a few comfortable looking rugs strategically placed on the floor and 4 well cushioned chairs placed in the middle of the floor facing the far wall. Against the far wall was the council, all facing us and seated next to each other along a very long table that was made of the same crystal as the rest of the fortress.
Presiding over the council was the founder himself, the mighty Eventin, to his right was Aura mistress of the Hibernian faction of Cairdeas. Many others were there, most who Id only heard about through whispered rumor and wild legend, but there they were larger than life, the stalwart Deor, the energetic Silencio, the renowned jester Quolo resplendent with fez on head and a goldfish bowl hovering just above him and many others.
Have a seat gentlemen, began Eventin with little ceremony, relax, he continued, you are among friends. Asmoth and I both did as we were bid.
It seems that there is much work for us to do these days, Eventin went on, much for agents such as yourselves who have proven your worth on the fields of battle.
We both nodded to him in thanks for the praise.
First we need to know how you feel about returning to Hibernia? he asked, would this be something you would consider?
Asmoth and I both looked at each other for a second before I said, Not at this time master, there is little left there for us, perhaps someday, but I feel I could be of more use elsewhere.
Asmoth nodded in agreement.
There was murmuring from the council at this, Aura seemed a little dismayed at our comment but said nothing to us.
It was Silencio who spoke next, his deep voice echoing through the chamber, that is good, for the assignment we have in mind for you will require your dedication, we cannot afford to have homesick agents looking for his next ride home every chance he gets. Is this understood.?
We both nodded to him in agreement.
Very well then, this time it was Quolo who spoke, the tassle from his fez dangling across his forehead, you have been chosen to scout a new world that we have only just recently come into contact with. We were sent a message from the people of this world who it appears have recently developed the technology to visit other dimensions.
Asmoth and I both glanced at each other quickly at this news, but said nothing.
They attained this technology from an invading force of creatures known as the Rikti, continued Eventin, who have invaded this world from their own dimension. We however know little of this Rikti nor do we know much of the humans who have contacted us. We believe it would be prudent to send agents to investigate this matter, and if necessary send a full contingent to deal with any perceived threats.
Is this acceptable to you? it was the mighty mistress Aura who asked.
Yes, we both agreed together, our excitement building.
Good, answered Deorc, I was told you were both brave by Aura, I see she was correct. You will both be briefed by Succor, who has also been assigned to this new universe. You will be sent at different times depending on the level of preparation needed for each of you. Once there you will establish contact with the natives and help them in anyway you can, also try to reestablish contact with each other, and enlist any help you deem necessary. Once the situation has been properly evaluated report back to us and we will determine if a more serious presence is required by us. Is this understood?
We both agreed and went to our respective briefings, the time spent preparing was a blur of combat training, tutoring of magic and technology, lessons on what little was known of our destination and much more.
The final lesson was designed us to prepare our bodies and minds for the transformation that the trip through the multi-verse would do to us. We were trained to visualize what form we wanted to be and to attune our bodies to the right kinds of energies, thus effectively we could control what type of powers that would govern us. My beginnings as a magical servant of nature influenced my thought patterns, I became attuned to the powers of earth and stone, while Asmoth attuned himself to the energies of the stars and the cosmos itself, enabling him to control energy.
But all the training couldnt fully prepare us for what would become of us when we finally stepped through the portal the council had prepared. Massive waves of energy and power flowed through us changing us, aging us and renewing us at the same time, transforming our bodies into something alien yet familiar. Bizarre yet normal, we became something else.
As predicted we did not arrive at the same time, though our arrival times were not too far apart. But here I was Sumigo on an alien world with no friends. My training took over, first after realizing that I was weak from the journey I set about regaining my strength, then I noticed my appearance, I had changed noticeably. My skin had turned had a rough stone like feel to it, I had large spikes protruding from my forehead and shoulders and I had an incredible super human strength. I quickly learned to speak the language of my new home and learned I was in a region called California and that I was suppose to go to a place called Paragon City, which is where the Rikti had first invaded. I immediately set out.
It didnt take long after reaching this place to understand why we were needed, the damage these Rikti had caused these people was extensive to say the least. Massive sections of the city were unlivable or destroyed outright, huge force fields had been erected to help protect the citizens from future attack and quarantine areas that were out of control. But it was not just the Rkti who were a blight to these people, there were many other menaces that were terrorizing people. Many gangs and factions were now running rampant after the Rikti war, these factions had long been held in check by a vast resource of Heroes who vigilantly fought them. Tragically many of these heroes had been lost in the war with the Rikti. Now these people needed new heroes, they needed us.
So I began the long process of understanding my new surroundings and building my strength, I was in control of incredible powers but had a feeling much of my potential was still untapped.
It wasnt long before Asmoth found me, he had changed dramatically in fact he had taken on a completely different form, he looked human, no vestige of his former elven heritage was apparent only the eyes hinted at the wisdom he represented and he had changed his name to Manipulater.
Then the others from Cairdeas found us as well, Tiji, Brathna and Succor who was now under the mantle Icy One set up a communication link for us in case we got ourselves into trouble. Before long we became organized and were able to report our findings to the council far away in the fortress of Juxtaposition. We started recruiting some of the native Heroes and began to swell our ranks. Great heroes came under the badge of Cairdeas in Paragon City, such heroes as Doc Eon, Dr. Vector, Tank Inferno and many others.
The severity of the situation became evident however when the mighty Yuumai was also sent to Paragon City by the council and joined us in our labors. The great Jadin also joined us and assumed the mantle of Vic Morrow. Spctr and Veras joined soon thereafter and with their additions to our ranks, we would soon be ready to put a stop to the menace on this world.
HeroName: Just A Girl
Power Sets: Invuln/Axe
Real Name: Melora Devon
Origin: Natural
History:
Born into a rather old fashioned military family, Melora Devon was a dissapointment merely because she was a daughter and not the son that her father wanted. Growing up blonde and beautiful, she grew easily frustrated by the stigma put on her by the fact that she was blond and beautiful. No amount of physical training, which she put her heart into, nor displays of intellegence seemed to get the opposite sex to value her opinion before her appearance. No matter her actual intellegence, she was dismissed as weak and an airhead, neither of which were true.
Visiting a friend in Paragon City, she heard a cry for help from outside the window. Without thinking, she picked up the first thing that came to hand (a friend's replica battle axe) and charged out to help the person. She beat off the thugs that were accosting the man and offered him a hand up.
"But, you're just a girl...." he stammered, as he took her hand.
"Yes, I guess I am," she commented with a twist of a smile.
HeroName: Target
Power Sets: Invuln/Super Strength
Real Name: David Peterson
Origin: Natural
Server: Champion
Excerpts from Target's Crey Industries profile:
The hero known as Target (recently identified as David Peterson) was a previous candidate of a now-defunct super soldier project coordinated between the U.S. military and Crey Industries. The project was abandoned when the various experiments yielded no viable results, but each subject was kept under surveilance.
Shortly after he left the project, David began to show signs of advanced strength, endurance, and resistance to pain. He believed this to have been a late result of the processes he was exposed to, but we have noted similarly tested candidates showed no similar signs (none of the ones that survived, at any rate).
==================
As best we can speculate, Target has been evolving into a creature of pure kinetic energy. This would account for his speed strength, and leaping ability, but would also account for his weakness to energy-based attacks (unlike other Tanker class heroes). Our testing seems to have furthered his progress [...]
Mr. Fusion was just a regular Joe working at Terra Volta when an experiment resulted in a core breach and exposed him to massive levels of radiation. As expected, his flesh melted and burned and his organs failed. But he did not die. Instead, his body became a smouldering mass of radioactive material undergoing a constant fusion reaction.
Scientists build him a fallout suit to prevent him from irradiating an entire block and, at the insistance of the authorities, emblazoned a nuclear warning label on his chest. Denied most forms of human interaction and not even able to drink himself into oblivion, he spends his days pounding the snot out of criminals. He's a surprisingly chipper fellow who enjoyes harnessing the power of the atom for the betterment of mankind.
Name: Knucklebones
Powers: Stone/EM
Origin: Science
Born the son of genteel hobos, Knucklebones was raised in the arts of the road. Learning the long con, short con, and fixing games of chance; skinning a mark so that they enjoyed it and came back. Knucklebones and his kin were no villains, they performed a valuable service: providing a safe place for the gullible to shed excess wealth without endangering themselves or others.
When a boxcar housing a top-secret government shipment was sabotaged and derailed, Knucklebones and his family were bathed in solutions meant for genetic experimentation. Though all would have survived, Knuckles alone was far enough away from the sabotage explosives to escape death.
Knucklebones found himself growing at an alarming rate, and at times able to stand as immovable as stone. His strength, now grown to immeasurable proportions, enables him to withstand crippling punishment, deal gargantuan blows, and leap across entire city blocks.
Learning that the scourge of the road, the Scumbums, were responsible for the botched hijacking attempt, Knucklebones vowed to wipe them from the face of the planet. Tracking the Scumbums across the country, he has followed them to Paragon City.
Now Knucklebones; rogue, scholar, con man, hero, rights the wrongs wherever the road takes him. Though he will never tire in his quest to avenge his family, woe be to any villains who cross his path. He squashes all evil with indiscriminate abandon, and foes tremble when they hear his name.
"Here comes Knucklebones!"
HeroName:Ashes of Rose
True Name: Rose Van Houghton
Sets: Fire/Fire
Origin: Mutant
Rose was a sweet girl, leading what was normally considered a charmed life. She was mildly athletic, enjoyed her place in the drama club, got good grades, and was headed to her junior year in high school with enthusiasm.
For her 16th birthday in early January, her parents took her and her siblings to a fancy restaurant in Talos Island. They ate, Rose got her gifts, and as they exited the building, Rose realised that she forgot her purse. She darted back into the building to get it, and came back out to see the parking lot suddenly filled with soldiers shooting at each other, some in red uniforms, some in silvery. So intent were they on their own fight, that Rose had to watch in horror as they caught her family in the middle.
The next thing she knew, she was on the ground, surrounded by heroes in blue and white. And a swath of charred inert bodies. Those heroes, though arriving too late to save her family, had seen the fireball she had become in her grief, laying waste to the 5th Column and Council soldiers that were fighting.
Rose was never able to reproduce that fireball. But from then on, fire obeyed her call, protecting her and charring her enemies. She registered the next day as Ashes of Rose, and was taken in by the Ion Force members who found her. Her life might now be in ashes, but she would try to keep others from being hurt as she was.
Hey LadyMage, enjoyed both of your origins, but especially Ashes of Rose. I really like the idea of a female tank, but I'm not sensitive enough to create one of my own

"Far away, in a distant galaxy, a planet was destroyed. Shards of this ex-planet drifted through the trackless void for unknowable years. Over time they came in contact with strange gasses, objects and other stranger things.
Eventually one of these fragments burned its way through our atmosphere, shedding layers of ice and stone as it plummeted. Slamming into the earth near the centre of the Eden section of Paragon City, like the spear of a god. It tore up a swath of rich soil and rested in a deep crater.
It rained. In the rain was a chemical stranger than any this visitor from a long dead planet had encountered in the black heavens, The Will of the Earth.
The core of the fragment ignited and it grew warm again. The dormant, preserved seeds of it's homeplanet sprouted in its crevices, seeking the light of day. The fallen comet cracked, unfolded and stood upright, peering around in confusion.
And that dear readers, is where our story begins... "

Name: Ice9
Origin: Magic (Ice/Mace)
Always wanting to follow in her father's footsteps, Consuella Mendaro took the path of science. Verdez Mendaro was one of the world's leading minds, specializing in analyzing ancient cultures. Consuella was with her father and the rest of his team in the jungle's of South America working on her post-doctorate. They had stumbled on some ruins from a culture previously unknown.
The diggers had uncovered a small stone box with a strange symbolic language on it. IT was up to Consuella to decipher this script. After a few days, she had made some progress on the language but nothing concrete. Apparently, the civilization that used to live here was wiped out by some terrible ice flood. But that still didn't explain what was in the box.
Curiosity eventually got the best of her, and late one night safely alone in her tent Consuella decided to open the box. The stone seemed to be sealed ait tight and her efforts proved futile. Then she noticed something she had missed before. Afew symbols hidden on a corner of the box. The symbols seemed to reach out to her...their meaning clear. She spoke aloud the passage as if channeling another being.
She awoke later to find that she was surrounded on all sides as far as the eye could see by ice. She looked at her reflection in the newly frozon ground. She seemd colder. She tightened her hand. A familiar sound issued from her creaking joints. She searched through camp, but everyone had been frozen to death so quickly they didn't even have time to wake.
She had become Ice. the mystery of the box was answered, but at what price? The tragedy did not effect her as nearly as much as she thought that it should. As she looked at her cold, dead father, her only toughts were "Where to next?"
The next few months she fought with her own mind, trying to hang on to her humanity, the entity that she had become one with was stealing away her feeling and emotions. After she seemed to have claimed partial control, she decided she need help. She knew a few researchers from Paragon city that were doing work in the ancient occult.
Dozens of tests later and after several accidents, the researchers gave up on Consuella. Her body was inexorably fused with some primal force. To even attempt separation would certainly cause death on her part, and who knew what kind of devastation from the force being forcibly removed.
An off-handed comment by one colleague struck Consuella. Paragon city was one of heroes and with abilities that she had shown in the lab, she could certainly help at least fight crime. It would give her something to focus on as she attempted to regain control of this terrible entity that now was.
While waiting for a package to arrive from her father's home, Consuella made a pact to herself and to all of the citizens of Paragon City. The awfullness that occured in that camp in South America would not ever be allowed to happen again. Not by anyone, including herself. As her resolve hardened and crystalized, she heard a knock on her door.
She signed for the package and set it on the coffee table. She touched the box, concentrated, and then flicked away the frozen remnants. She smiled when she saw what lay before her. She used to stare at it as a child and always thought it remarkable. her father had found it on an expedition long ago. A ceremonial war mace from the 14th Century. She picked it up and frost formed around the medieval weapon.
She walked outside and glanced across the street. A woman was having her purse snatched. She walked over to the thug who didnt see her.
"Excuse me." Consuella said to the thug.
She smashed his face in as he turned around. The woman gratefully thanked her and ran off. Consuella forced a smile. A scared passer-by stammered,
"Who are you?" noticing the air freeze around her as she turned. She thought for a moment.
"Tell your friends that Ice9 has come to Paragon City."

name: Power Jenny
powers: Inv/SS
origin: Magic
Jenny's family are the guardians of "The Weapon". This family inheritance has been passed down from father to son for longer than the family has been keeping records. It is not a physical thing but a magical essence that has allowed members of her family to be extremely successful heroes and adventurers. What is more The Weapon seems to respond to the needs of the age and with the rise of the Super Hero and the Super Villain the recent recipients have been amongst some of the most powerful people on earth.
Jenny's father was the renown Powerman and for years he had been training Jenny's brother Jack to take over the mantle. Jenny's only involvement with super powers was the time she spent at the Eden Gardens retirement homes tending to the heroes of yesteryears and she was more than happy for it to remain that way.
Powerman was one of many heroes that took part in the attack on the Rikti home dimension during the war. When Jenny acquired the Weapon there was no ceremony, no flash of light, no sudden realisation of power. So given the worry she was feeling for her father fighting on distant shores it is no wonder that it was probably several days before she realised the inheritance had been passed down to her. That realisation carried no joy, only the knowledge that her father was now almost certainly dead.
Why was The Weapon passed to her and not Jack? She does not know and if she knew how to transfer the power to her brother then it would already be in Jacks possession.
As for Jack, well there is a reason why The Weapon has been entrusted to this family and he isn't going to let a little thing like the lack for super powers prevent him from becoming the hero he trained to be. Plus someone needs to keep an eye on Sis, she doesn't know what she's getting herself into.
This is a song about a super hero named Tony. Its called Tony's theme.

Name: Trong (aka Trong Trongersoll)
Powers: INV/Mace (Mutant)
Origin:
Trong was born about 450 years ago in the mountains of North Umbria. His true origins are unknown. His parents found him in a basket on thier doorstep. Pinned to his blanket was a piece of paper with one word on it. The local priest said the paper said "Trongersoll". His adoptive parents took that to be his name. As he grew up, the kids took to calling him Trong, less of a mouthful than Trongersoll.
In his later years, Trong took to traveling. One day a coach with guards happened by. They stopped and asked the condition of the roads ahead. Trong told them the roads were good for Her Majesty maintained her highways well. A Lady stuck her head out the window and asked him his name. He said Trong, and then realizing that he was addressing the Queen, Elizabeth herself, corrected himself saying Trongersoll. Trong was too informal a name for the Queen. "Well Trong Trongersoll" said the Queen, "We thank ye for the compliment on Our roads. Here is a gold coin for your time." Well Trong wasn't about to correct the Queen so he decided that if she wanted him to be Trong Trongersoll, that is who he'd be.
Trong got two things that day, he vowed he'd keep both forever. One was his name, the other was a Gold Coin. At a Faire a cutpurse relieved him of his coin, but no one could steal his name.
With time Trong found himself to be long lived and became accomplished with both Quarterstaff and Mace. When he heard of the problems in Paragon City in the New World he journeyed there to assist the forces of good.
In a less martial form, Trong can be met at Renaissance Faires all over the East Coast.
Wow, there are some great origins. I hope people keep posting.
Hero Name: Jalia
True Name: Jalia Wolenski
Sets: Fire/Axe
Origin: Natural
Jalia's life was changed forever when, at age 13, she snuck into her father's secret mad scientist laboratory in the basement and overheard an argument that her father was having with her mother, the Supreme Witch of the West. As she listened to their argument she learned that her true father was not the noted scientific genius she had always known but a mutant superhero named Lord Voltaron! She was so shocked that she slipped and fell into a vat of experimental acid, and was then bitten by a radioactive lemming upon climbing out.
Her parents rushed her to the hospital, where it was learned that the combined shock of the revelations and the acid and the lemming bite had caused her completely all-natural, non-mutagenic, non-technology, non-magic, non-scientific powers of fire to manifest.
Now Jalia can throw down fire that only hurts bad people... which made her career choice as hero instead of villian the obvious one...
As for the axe... a wizard named Meehanon from the mystic land of Aidana appeared before Jalia one day and bestowed upon her a powerful magical axe. He said that she was the chosen one who would save the Aidanan Kingdom from the Dark Lord Kassellmog. He said to practice hard, and that he would return soon to take her to his world, where her destiny would be fulfilled.
Jalia has been practicing hard... but what she doesn't realize is that Meehanon was drunk on apricot brandy at the time. Not only did he grant the kingdom's magic axe to the wrong girl, he doesn't even remember what dimension he was in when he did it...

In the 1980's, the growing prevalence of the drug Supes led to panic amongst the world governments. The ability for some addicts to gain super-heroic powers deeply concerned the leaders of capitalist governments. Seeing this as a potential chance for the USSR to get a one-up on such nations as Canada, the United States, Mexico, France, Britain, West Germany, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Greece, and Italy, these countries co-operated one massive effort to create their own minor superheroes.
This led to the formation of the "Noah Project". They assembled 3000 of their best military, police, and special service officials, and in co-operation with Crey Industries, developed the "Noah Treatment". This treatment fused together the DNA of two distinct creatures, granting the host creature various abilities such as enhanced strength, speed, dexterity, or resistances to the elements.
For 2 years, these soldiers operated as an elite strike team known as "Task Force Noah". However, a stabilizing agent in the treatment began to break down, leading all of the subects to begin a secondary mutation. For all but 1% of the subjects, this mutation proved fatal. For those who did not die, the mutation granted unexpected powers.
Not wanting to be associated with the deaths of so many people in an experiment as controversial as the Noah Project, the governments and Crey all agreed that it would be best to simply release the remaining subjects to their own devices.
Jason Weathers, a native New Zealander, agreed to represent his country after his commander presented to him the opportunity. He was moved to the United States, and was subjected to the Noah Treatment. He was joined with the DNA of a Rockhopper Penguin, and initially gained an increased lung capacity, an increased resistance to the cold, and an increased jump height.
However, when the secondary mutation took effect, Jason's power spiked dramatically. He became capable of sheating himself in armour made of ice, and gained the ability to form stone gauntlets and mallets from surrounding materials. He took on the name "Rock-Hopper" and decided to hone his skills in Paragon before leaving to return to New Zealand.

Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." What does that make an MMO?

How about everyone listing their Tank name, powerset, and origin? I'll start:
Name: Mount Muscle
Powers: INV/SS (Science)
Origin: Intelligent far beyond his years, John Stevens was picked to join a top secret govenrment program before entering his junior year of college. Applying his knowledge in bio physics, Stevens worked on an "Enhanced Human Immunity Resistance" program the government wanted for its soldiers. After years of laboratory testing, Stevens needing a human test subject, injected himself with the formula. It was a success...of sorts.
At first, reports indicated that he was highly resistant to toxic gasses, poisons, and to an extent - physical harm. Slowly his body began to change. Over the timespan of a month, he grew to the height of 8 feet tall. His body became impervious to all toxins and he no longer aged. His skin became like iron - invulnerable to all forms of physical damage. His strength had increased to the point where he could punch through solid steel walls without much effort. Nicknamed "Mount Muscle" by the government, Stevens was reassigned to the Hero division located in Paragon City.
Applying his intellect and newfound strength, Mount Muscle took to the streets. Eventually he became known for wadding into large masses of evil doers subduing them, and coming out unscathed. The government soon began sending him on more dangerous missions which he gladly accepted never coming back any worse for the wear. Times were good....then came the invasion.
Not much was heard of the hero name Mount Muscle during this time - the government content on keeping him out of the news. MM was mostly used on dangerous rescue missions involving the capture of heros by the Rikti. Other super powered beings knew to count on seeing Muscle when times were bleak. Soon, disater happened.
Hand picked by Hero 1 to join the Omega Team's assualt on the Rikti homeworld, Mount Muscle was eager to join in. Little was know what happened after they went into the portal. What was known to few on the planet was this: Mount Muscle returned. A year after vanishing, the Government had reports of a large being dropping out of the sky over a remote part of Arizona. What they found was a comatosed Mount Muscle. Months later, Muscle awoke from his sleep, but remembered little. Ashamed that he let down Hero 1 and the Omega team, Muscle vowed never to wear a cape, in what he felt as a tribut in letting down his companions.
Recently Mount Muscle has been seen once again patroling the streets of Paragon City.
