Teen body official statement?

Never fear - the time has come to begin revealing what Expansion 2: A Council of War is all about. Stay tuned. And be careful out there.
[/ QUOTE ]
With all due respect, should that not be "Expansion 3 : A council of War."
P.S. If I'm right, I'll buy you lunch. Seriously. I'm only about 20 mins from you guys at work.
Expansion 2? Was there an Expansion 1? Or did you really mean Issue #3? Has it been a long day for you?
SSOCS... please don't delay. I can think of so many people who would be bitterly disapointed if you delayed.
Oh, and I thought you mentioned something about Sonic and Bow powersets for Issue 3. Was that a rumor as well?
CatMan - some form on every server
Always here, there, and there again.

[So maybe we will have teens and shapeshifting in.

[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman, any chance we can get some idea on what Shapeshifting is going to be? Will it be an powerset or pool powers?
While we're at it, can we get a "Porn Star" body type and "Couch Potato" body type?

I hope you're wrong about that. The promise of an out of combat system is what's been keeping me around. Not sure I want to wait till next year for that.

Pitho is correct the SSOCS is the Super Secret Out of Combat System that Statesman has been very careful not to leak any information on.
The only things we can be relatively sure on is that it will allow a way to gain exprience outside of combat. It will invove some detective work and that it has also been refered to as the "mind of a hero"

Has this been confirmed?
I believe what Statesman said was "noncombat leveling". I don't think he ever clarified if this meant regular character leveling or leveling in a different system.
He hinted once that there was an offline component and the it dealt with "auto..." something.
I don't think a Dev ever actually said detective work either, but that is the reining guess since Statesman said that a hero's heart is his powers, his soul is his costume, and his mind is... whatever SSOCS is.
I have to disagree with the statement above, that update 3, won't be "As big as 1 and 2".
Stateman mentioned in his radio add, that they were going to try to have an update every 2 to 3 months.
I for one think this is awesome, and the amount of new content that 2, added since 1 came out. is quite a bit.
History lession - Game came out April, Update 1 (+10 lvls, costume changes, 2 new zones), came out in June, Update 2, Respec Trial, Effects, New Zones). Came out in Sept.
That is keeping the 2 to 3 month schedule so far.
I'm almost 100% postive, that the devs, were alpha testing Update 2 contents, before update 1, went live, might even have been working on it before the game went live. They are testing stuff that will be in Update 3, right now.
Probably working on stuff that will be in CoV, Update 4, 5 and possible 6.
Whatever is ready and is appropriate to add, wether that is teen architype, Trench Coats, Animal Heads, Shapeshifting whatever. Could be included in Update 3.
Whatever isn't ready to try yet (even if originally "planned" for update 3). won't be in there.
I would guess that Update 3, will be on the Live Servers before Christmas, maybe even by Thanksgiving.
People will tell there friends about all the new stuff that is in the game, and then their friends will say, "hey give me City of Heroes for Christmas." or Hanukah.
So when we see, the statment, from Statesman, that says "The mourning period for 'The Gambler', who died during the Rikti Invasion, is over. Heores can now get their Trench Coats" . You'll know they will be available in the next update.
Council of War, sounds like a really cool new story arc is going to open up to us.

It has? Hmmm. Not to my knowledge. Maybe a "yes, that's on the plate." But definitely not a "yeah it's in the next update."
But, aside from an Epic Archetype, I haven't alluded to anything in specific coming out this update (oh - and the SSOCS, but that might be delayed). So maybe we will have teens and shapeshifting in.
Or maybe not.

Note how he said the time has come to begin revealing what Expansion 3 is all about... does this mean the event is about to take a violent turn?
*Editted to correct myself... long day :P*
Within 15 days there'll probably be a big interview dropping more details on Update 3.
Then at the end of October, before Halloween, we'll get a full feature list of update 3.
Then around the end of November we'll get the testing going.
Finally, on the week of December 17, Update 3 will go live.
Shapeshifters??!!! EEEEEEeeeee!!
I just caught the Justice League Unlimited episode with Elongated Man this weekend. Shapeshifters and Stretchers are SOOOO boss.
[ QUOTE ]
Probably not. I mean, when you get a new costume, can you change your height, build or sex?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, but those body types were avialable at the beginning, so if you had wanted them, you could have picked them. If you wanted a female character that didnt look like she stepped out of Fake-Juggs-R-Us you were kind of out of luck.
Oh, I also didnt mean to imply that the new body types were going to come out w the next issue, only that it was stated it was something they were looking at.
I'd be willing to bet that the new body types will appear first for NPC/minions... Maybe in a minor patch or in the update before they are included. that way they can observe them moving around and interacting before letting the players wreak havoc with them.
Heroes on Freedom Server
Chord - lvl 30 Rock 'n Roll Muse
Mr. Payback - lvl 12 Natural Tank
Caryatid - lvl 14 Magical Stone Tank
Chronobot - lvl 11 Tech Scrapper

NPCs and Minions use different models than players. They also don't do nearly as much stuff or use any of the costume pieces, so that wouldn't be a useful way to test the new body types.
Whoah! Shapeshifting and teens in the same patch?!?!?
So that means... I could be a teen... who shapeshifts... into a Corvette!!!!!!
*jaw drops*
Hehe i cant believe states forgot that he did mention the teen body type and animal body type in the Radio interveiw... remember like a month ago states? hehe i so remember him saying that and its still in the log of that interview...
yup found it:: {Statesman] That is certainly funny... just had a young lady, talking to her at GenCon in fact about this very issue. We are going to be introducing, for instance, a teen body type, which is, lets say somewhat thinner than our current body types. And easily it could be an adult, but its someone more lithe if you will.}
The rumor in beta was they didn't include actual animal heads and body parts in customization (except tails and the occassional ears) in order to avoid becoming City of Furrys. If you don't understand that reference, be glad.

The rumor

Key word there; rumor. All I have to say is that I'd be pretty pissed if I'm having costume options denied over a few sexual deviants.
But somehow.......I doubt that the devs are that petty.

Your standard male humanoid thug seems to be able to do just about everything players can do, and then some--play the bongos, use a pick, use a shovel, levitate books, steal stereo speakers, walk... If you play around with the MOV commands in recorded demos, you can make them do our actions and we PCs can take some of their insanely cool moves--like sitting on a trash can!

Does anyone else pronouce it as "socks", or is that just me?
[/ QUOTE ]
Always
Pshah Statesman, as InflamedSweater would say, I'm calling you out. You said the SOCK system would be coming out sooner than we think, and now I hear it may be pushed back to the week after I was thinking? For shame.
Interesting side note: The SSOC system is actually named after Positron's old dog Sock.

im thinking December 16. thursday is much more likely then a friday.
it also gives them 1 work day to settle any minor bugs before the weekend, and a week before the break to work on any major bugs.

All right. I'll simplify my statement to: It won't happen that way because only players use those models and can test out the costume options with them.
Better?
Due to the high demand "Statesman Twist'em : Teasa! Smasha!" is back in stock! Online orders only!
Hmmm looks like he is feeling good again (unlike the patchday, then again, running an MMO isn't the most relaxing job one could have), expect some more replies like this in the coming days
A Council of War hmmmm hmmmmm hmmmm.. I am smelling a live event.
Violence has its own economy. Therefore, be thoughtful and precise in your investment.
If they're going to introduce new body types, might it be possible that they would allow people to change their current characters' body types from the one they picked to one of the new options?
I think that would be a good idea, but I don't know what kind of coding would have to go into that to allow a permanent change like that (not like changing your costume options). I dunno, I suppose we'll have to see how it works out.
I do know that I am one of the many female players who have expressed a certian degree of dislike with the current female body type, and if possible, would love to change my main character's look to something more along the lines of what it should be.
