  1. Sometimes, I roll up to Maria Jenkins and shout, "Vendor let me buy your bank some guards!!!"

    I wanna be a monkey!!!

Nah, on second thought, I'd hate having it be my job

    [/ QUOTE ]

I kinda feel the same way. Secondly, I kind of like stumbling around in the dark figuring things out for myself. If I got a job doing it, I'd have someone to tell me how to do it and ruin half of the fun. Of course, if I got an actual job doing it, I'd probably be so far in over my head that I'd have to grow gills. hehehe.
  3. Yeah, I have the Mother Mayhem mish and she looks the same as ever, like Aurora Borealis. Same /info as before, too.

My MA scrapper can two shot a minion, and with a crit I've one-shotted oranges. And the Oranges I've one shotted are DE Fungi, and MA does not have the most damaging attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well darn, that just took the wind out of my sails

    [/ QUOTE ]

He can two-shot white-con minions only with his best attacks. Maybe yellow-con minions if they aren't smashing resistant and his enhancements are ++'d out. It's not like he can do it with Thunder Kick and Storm Kick. Not without a crit. This is a Crane Kick/Storm Kick/Eagle's Claw duo, similar to using Power Burst and Power Blast back to back. But, yeah, scrappers can definitely two-shot regular minions. Most all damage-dealers can. My EM tanker can one-shot a red-con under the right conditions (Build-Up, Energy Transfer, damage-vulnerable mob).

More importantly, the only reason he can one shot an orange-con Fungi is because he critted with Eagle's Claw that has a Lethal Damage crit which Fungi are highly vulnerable to. If you were to watch him fight that thing with his other smashing attacks, which those are very resistant to, you'd probably feel sorry for him.

Don't let him get you down. He's exaggerating and leaving info out.
All Orochi is doing is puposefully inflating his information to make it sound like scrappers are massively better than they really are. Crits typically only occur 1 out of every 20 hits (1 in 6.67 for Eagles' Claw, our slow-recharging heavy-hitter attack). Don't get mystified whenever a scrapper says, "I can one-shot God with a crit!" That typically means, "Holy crap, I got really lucky and it would take X more tries to do that again!" :P

Like I said, don't let him upset you. He's trying to do it on purpose.

    Blaster role

If that was true, then Blasters would just suddenly die about 30 seconds into testing when the lucks ran out

    [/ QUOTE ]

Any blaster worth his salt would be done by then, except maybe an ice blaster. Maybe. But then they'd know how my MA feels watching balance testing being drawn out with a Spines primary.

    [ QUOTE ]
Now along that line, I think states should start throwing Blasters in there using the same "normal player" builds. Hell he should do that for all ATs, it's really show him how little range = defence, and how much more risk a scrapper is at then a blaster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This begs the question, "How do you know he doesn't?" Just as I asked how do you know he doesn't plug you full of inspirations? I can only assume their testing follows similar patterns. If he uses such awkward builds to test scrappers with, why would he opt for the uber, min/max blaster build to test with?

    [ QUOTE ]
Of coarse that brings up the whole argument of, he's soloing 20+ 4+s with scrappers, and yet we're less at risk cause we're not in Melee?

    [/ QUOTE ]

And you don't think that with selective inspiration use that a blaster could do the same thing, especially when the devs pack the mobs in the same manner that they showed us in their demos? Hell, fire blasters would have a field day with that arrangement.

All I'm saying is that inspirations make whoever uses them perform substantially better, particularly when you stack them. It doesn't matter who you are, even blasters can become practically immortal under the right conditions using inspirations.

I just thought it would be something to find out about considering that if they used the same testing standards for blasters as they do scrappers, it would make blasters appear exhorbitantly more powerful than you really are. Sorry if I interrupted your narrow-minded nerf-herding with a bit of critical thinking. Lord knows those two things don't mix.

    Food for thought:

If Statesman's idea of determining the overall effectiveness of scrapper defenses means using a half of a tray of handpicked inspirations to find their supposed optimal point...

Isn't it likely he's testing blasters the same way?

So, maybe our "perspectives" are all skewed, eh? Looks like we all might be expected to inhale gobs of insps before we fight. :\ I'd seek answers if I were you guys.

    Blaster Damage

Granted, I know that blasters don't like seeing their damage where it's at, but I have a hard time feelin' sorry for ya when I watch my friend Mogus use Total Focus and hit something almost 2x harder than my MA can hit with Eagle's Claw.

Personally, I think you guys need a defensive buff to make initiating those close-up attacks less risky. It's not just melee attacks, but the short range attacks like Power Burst, Short Circuit, and Blaze, too.

The thing about blasters is that you've got the potential to really lay in the single-target damage beyond what scrappers could often hope to, but the game design has placed far more danger to you from those attacks than most of you care to risk.
  8. Dark September is a vampire who subsists off her villainous prey. Her monetary woes are compensated from the same. After all, when she's finished with them, they don't need it anymore. Not very heroic, but that's vampirism for you.

Autumn is a spokeswoman for Green Giantess, Inc. She makes a decent living peddling vegetables to supermarkets and restaurants and such.

Intel Inside is now the Assistant Manager at the City of Gyros in Galaxy City. It's largely a ceremonial position because he spends the large part of his time there as the Pita Toaster. His services there, however, have proven to be very valuable, hence the promotion.
  9. Yup... unless something happens prior to Issue 3's launch where an event happens where we see the Council actively take over the 5th Column, it's just going to become one of the most blassé alterations to an MMORPG I've ever seen.

And even if there is some kind of cool event, it's not going to change the fact that my characters' histories are being rewritten, my souveniers and badges suddenly changing from 5th Column ones to Council ones. Granted, it's a pretty weak change to the actual gameplay, but a pretty significant powerslam to the game's previously established story and to the immersion factor.

I have a hard time believing that this change was planned, as Statesman claims, when the game's entire history is having the 5th Column largely written out of it.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Example: Lous Garage, mission in a low level clockwork arc, now *looks* like a garage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That happened in Issue 2, though as well as with a couple of Freakshow missions, a Banished Pantheon mission, and some early level missions. Although, such changes to missions are expected to be delivered this time around, too.

As far as the 5th Column being changed to the Council being a feature? I guess I'm missing something because all I've seen are renamed 5th Column standing on the same old soapboxes wearing slightly different costumes. *shrug*
  11. Actually, the former, former burn was uber and overpowered. Former burn is not current burn only it becomes former burn after the new current burn replaces it in Issue 3, but since the current burn is being shown the door, the former burn is remaining the current burn.

    So no worries.
  12. I appreciate the sentiments, Hell-Sent, but I'm just a hack who loves MMP's.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
We're talking about melee damage archetypes, not ranged....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, he said "Melee Damage Type," not archetype. Blasters have the most powerful melee damage in-game is the point, easily eclipsing scrappers. Scrappers are #2, and tankers are #3.

And as far as blasters going toe-to-toe with mobs? I see it often. A guy in my SG has Thunder Strike slotted up and uses it as a finisher quite often. The damage he doles out with that attack makes me weep in jealousy.

Blappers pretty much died off with the emergence of split-damage and increased status effects from Issue 2, but I'm betting that with the new EPP's, you'll probably see a new resurgence of them from 44 onward.
  14. Who said scrappers are #1? You guys have never seen a blaster up close, have ya?
  15. Rather than nerfing Unyielding Stance, just augment it. Make it better. Give it a "buff," if you will.

    Yes, I am insane.

Look at it this way, when people take Unyielding Stance, they generally do one of two things: 6-slot it with Resistance and End Reduction enhancements, or leave it 1-slotted with Resist or End Rdx enhancements.

    So, let's improve that.

Instead of Unyielding Stance immobilizing the tanker/scrapper, make it slow them to the slow cap: 10% of their movement rate. This would be akin to the epitomal tanker brute who, while being beset by many foes trying to hold him back, is slowly trudging his way defiantly across the battleground, step by step. For optional sick humor, leave immob. resistance out of Unyielding Stance. *evilgrin*

Now, there is no reason here to change anything about the defense bonuses or the resistance magnitudes of the power. Make UYS exclusive of any travel powers. Turning it on effectively shuts down Super Speed, Sprint, Hover, Fly, etc. Jumping is not possible with Unyielding Stance. The only way to speed up UYS is to effectively cripple its defensiveness. I've seen this recommended elsewhere, but allow the tanks to replace their End Rdx/Resist enhancements with run-speed enhancements. Give them a 6.67% boost per SO slotted, allowing them a maximum of 50% their base speed. That way, UYSers who want to be more mobile have to sacrifice their ability to shrug off attacks.

It makes complete sense to me, and doesn't require nerfing the power whatsoever. Tankers who want that mobility would get their own choice on whether they wanted to "nerf" themselves or not.
  16. The name The White Rabbit hints at three things:

    1) Possible Time Control powerset.
    2) Rabbit Ears costume detail.
    3) I have too much time on my hands and read too deeply into things.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
let's all go to the test server, and get ourselves some pie!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes!!! It's about time we get a Pie emote!
  18. Whoah! Shapeshifting and teens in the same patch?!?!?

So that means... I could be a teen... who shapeshifts... into a Corvette!!!!!!

    *jaw drops*
  19. I haven't seen how it's "fixed" at all, because it flat out doesn't work. As a DA scrapper, my set is the only scrapper without immob. resist so I need this to work to do my job. It drives me nuts how many teams I'll be in and it seems like the Death Mages just know to nab me with Midnight Grasp, and I have to sit and watch the fight go by, trying to hit things if they run close enough by me.

And when I run into things with immobs, solo, they really love to chain-cast them on me. I died twice today because of that trying to do a mission in the abandoned sewers.

I swear it's almost like playing DAoC again. Everyone point and laugh at the poor [Censored] who rolled a meleer. PvP is going to be such a silly joke if this stuff is still broken on its release.
  20. This is actually happening on live right now to me, but before Update 2, when running CJ on my blaster, things would try to immob him and he'd blast through the effect and keep on trucking. He's the only toon I've had any experience with this on, but it was pretty effective for him.

Now, I respecced to it on my scrapper, post-Update 2, and I've found that it doesn't resist immobilizations whatsoever. Not on my blaster anymore, either. It's not fun trying to get by a group of CoT in the sewers and have their Death Mage drop Midnight Grasp on you and CJ does nothing. I'm just curious if anyone else is having this problem?
  21. [ QUOTE ]
And bare feet as a costume option. (Okay, that one's admittedly odd.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have to laugh for everytime I see this request as it's been in the game since launch. Try flipping through the uptions under the "Flat" boot style sometime.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    I know what's in Update 3....

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Dammit, there he goes again.

I betcha there's a new, big Tsoo monster named "Soon" in it, too.
  23. Anyone here that played UO and remember when the idea of Necromancy was first presented by their Lead Designer? I recall players were giddy over the proposal, but it took them 4 years and 2 or 3 team leads later before it finally came into that game. hehehe.

    [ QUOTE ]
    * Prior to Update 2, I completed the Numina Task Force. I have been assigned all of the other Task Force Badges (having completed all of them) but still lack Numina's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Were you part of the team when Jurrasik was defeated? Did you recieve a reward when Jurrasik was defeated?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just to add, my TF had the identical problem last night. We all got excited when we received "The Solution" badge for defeating Jurassik, then realized the missions wasn't done. We completed and exited the mission, our TF leader called Numina from Eden, and Task Force Ruby disintegrated as usual without any fanfare. I was kind of expecting a reward selection dialog box similar to when I completed the Path of the Dark storyarc yesterday, but nothing. No badge. No SO (I had a slot open, to be sure). Do not pass Go. Do not collect 200 influence.

There were several curses of "No badge" in local, and of course, I /bugged and /petitioned it. Definitely a fun TF, but I'm 38 and hope I don't want to have to immediately do it again (before 39) and hope I get a badge this time.
